Chapter 53

***The Power of Truth—Part 2.***

**Nerissa POV**

The warriors of both sides, demons, and dragons fought against each other, drawing blood that spilled down onto the ground, but I kept moving in between them, searching for Allister and Alex as the fear started to creep more and more inside my heart.
I saw Ryder as he fought off two demons while Cole noticed me calling my name, “Nerissa, stay back!”
I saw him move towards me, about to reach up to me but got stopped as a demon warrior ran into him, pushing him down into the ground.
Thankfully, Cole managed to get up and fought the demon with pure strength as I continued to search for Allister and Alex until I spotted Alex and felt as my world started to spin around me.
The sight made my blood freeze as I could see Alex standing in the middle, fighting against Allister but not only him, there was Reynard as well.
Like they could sense I was there, Alex and Allister both turned their gaze my way as I looked at them both, fighting the tears not to spill down from the pain I was feeling that came right from my heart.
I saw Allister’s eyes display all kinds of emotions until a loud growl sounded coming out from his chest as his nostrils flared. He turned his narrowed eyes straight at Alex, saying in a cold tone that sends shivers to run down my spine, “You fucking son of a bitch!”
Everything happened in a second when Allister threw himself straight at Alex, making them both collide and fall down into the ground.
Reynard jumped aside the moment Allister attacked Alex, watching at them with amusement displaying in his eyes.
I stood there frozen, not able to breathe as I watched Alex and Allister fight and slam their fists, drawing blood from one another as Allister growled out in rage, saying, “How dare you touch her!!”
They both stood up, and I saw Alex elongating his talons while Allister’s razor nails appeared on his fingers. Alex took a swing and managed to cut Allister by his shoulder, saying, “You have no rights over her, she is my mate!”
Allister roared as he managed to cut Alex with his razor-sharp nails, right across his bicep, saying, “You asshole! She is MY MATE!”
Alex’s eyes went completely black hearing Allister’s words, and I knew that moment his dragon took control.
A scream left my lips as I saw both of them fighting brutally, cutting each other, and their tall frames were covered in their own blood.
A hand grabbed my elbow as I looked at the wild eyes of the one person I couldn’t stand the sight of…. Reynard.
“We have to go. Come on, princess.” Reynard said as he tried to drag me away from the now battlefield, but I was not making it easy for him.
“Stop it, princess! Or we do this easy way or a hard way, but either way, you are coming with me so stop squirming!” he shouted at me as I looked at him with pure hatred shining through my eyes, saying, “I’ll rather die.”
He shrugged his shoulders, saying, “Guess it’s the hard way. Love when you defy me, it’s a huge turn-on.” 
A nasty grin appeared on his face as his eyes roamed with hunger over my body making me feel the bile rise up in my throat not wanting to be touched by him.
I closed my eyes shut, trying to tune in with my inner beast. Calling her out so I can try to fight this monster that stood before me.
Something was wrong.
I couldn’t quite understand what was happening, but I realized that I couldn’t shift, not even do a half shift.
I reached in my link with Bellania and asked her, feeling out of breath as the pain in my heart kept growing more and more.

**Mind link with Bellania**

*“Bellania… Bellania, what is wrong? Why aren’t we shifting?” I asked with worry in my voice.
“I am not sure… Maybe Hilda messed something up and now it is preventing us from shifting.” Her voice sounded worried and confused as I closed our mind link, thinking what to do.*

**End of mind link**

Opening my eyes, I saw Reynard crouching down, about to grab me and toss me over his shoulder but failing as I moved away fast, kicking him with my leg right into his side, making him groan out as he didn’t expect me to fight back.
I turned around fast, rushing straight towards Allister and Alex when Reynard caught up with me, stopping me as he grabbed my hand in a vice grip, making it impossible for me to get free.
“Let go of me!” I screamed at him as he ignored my words, pulling me harshly into his body, saying, “It’s enough!”
I saw a movement within the corner of my eye, and just when Reynard was about to toss me over his shoulder, Ryder slammed hard down into Reynard, making us all three fall into the ground as Reynard released his grip on me so I managed to move away as the two fought with each other.
I looked around, searching for Allister and Alex when I spotted them further away, still digging their claws into each other.
The heavy, burning feeling raised more and more, gripping onto my heart as I rushed towards them, seeing their claws dig into each other’s throats, about to rip them out.
A scream tore out from my throat as I fell down into the ground, with tears streaming down my cheeks, making Alex and Allister turn their attention and look my way.
Not caring for myself, I used the last of the strength I had and screamed at them both, saying, “Don’t kill each other! I can’t bear it! I can’t!”
The darkness took over me as I collapsed down onto the ground as everything around me disappeared.
