Chapter 59

**Nerissa POV**

Waking up to a beautiful sunny day, I slowly stretched in bed before getting up and walking to my joined bathroom.
Taking my toothbrush and putting on some toothpaste, I brushed my teeth while walking back to my bedroom and preparing some clothes for me to wear.
Soon as I finished with my usual morning routine and dressing, I felt a tight knot forming inside my stomach as I pressed down on the door handle.
Better be safe than sorry, so I peeked out my head, checking from left to my right before I stepped outside my bedroom.
A voice startled me, saying, “Well, good morning. Are you hiding from someone on such a lovely day? Hoping it’s not from me.”
Looking up, feeling startled, I saw Emily standing in front of the door to her room, right across from mine.
Her arms were crossed over her chest and a questionable eyebrow was raised upwards as her eyes bore down into me.
Pressing my hand above my fast-beating heart, I exhaled, noticing it was just Emily and not someone else.
“Good morning, Em.” I gave her a smile, stepping outside into the hallway, closing the door to my room behind me.
She stayed quiet making me turn my eyes her way, noticing she continued to look at me the same way as she was a second ago. I rolled my eyes and said, “Oh, don’t be silly, Em, you know it is nothing like that.”
“Hmm… if you say so…” She took a step towards me, pointing a finger at me, saying, “What’s going on? I thought we are best friends and don’t have any secrets.”
Exhaling deeply, I answered her, looking her in the eyes, “We are best friends and you are right, we shouldn’t have any secrets in between us.”
Her face lit up with a huge smile, then a second later she looked at me with curiosity and worry, asking, “So will you tell me why the sudden weird change in your behavior this morning?”
As I was about to tell her, an all too familiar voice sounded from down the hall, making me jump up feeling startled.
Emily looked at me in confusion as I said, “How about we go somewhere else where is more private so we can have this type of conversation.”
Before she could say anything or even protest, I grabbed her by her arm and pulled her into the opposite direction of two voices that were slowly growing louder while they were approaching us.
“Nerissa… slow down,” Emily said while we stormed down the second set of stairs, almost reaching the ground floor.
Reaching the ground floor, I looked around us when Emily said, “If we are looking where to go, outside would be lovely.”
I looked at her, frowning, making her shrug her shoulders, saying, “Just suggesting.”
Rolling my eyes, I nodded my head in defeat, saying, “Fine… let’s go outside.”
Emily grinned, rushing forward with a slight jump in her step. I hated to admit but the warm sun rays felt so good the moment we stepped out.
Passing by a few of Alex’s pack members, we greeted them politely as we continued to rush ahead, finding a nice, sunny spot under a tree that was not too close to the packhouse or the training field.
“So will you stop stalling and tell me already?” Emily said the moment we sat down onto the green grass, leaning our back on the tree bark.
“Well, a few days ago…” I started to say but was cut off when someone approached us.
Squinting my eyes as I looked up, I noticed a female that smiled at us, taking a seat with us, saying, “Good morning.”
I looked at her, feeling unsure, saying, “Good morning.”
Emily smiled at me, “You remember Rhea, Nerissa? Don’t worry she is good, she is with Warit.”
Rhea’s eyes widened when she scrunched her nose, saying, “Excuse me? I am not with him… we only had… something… ugh… anyway, it doesn’t matter.”
Emily said ‘Oh’ as a response while I chuckled, adding, “Men…”
Rhea looked at me, giving me a smile, saying, “Tell me about it…”
We both chuckled while Emily’s cheeks turned red, so I spoke, “I trust you Rhea that whatever we say will stay in between us only.”
She looked at me and I saw her eyes sparkling with joy as she nodded her head, “Yes, of course.”
Taking her words as a promise, I was about to continue my previous explanation when Emily jumped in and started to talk before I had a chance to. She said, “I caught Nerissa here acting weird this morning, so she was about to explain to me why.”
Scowling, I looked at her, making her giggle while Rhea chuckled and asked, “Wonder why?”
“I just have too much going on and on my mind. Can’t a girl have a break and if she wants to act weird hell, it should not be considered weird when her whole life gets crazy and weird and it’s just weird!” Tossing my hands in the air as I rambled feeling frustrated, making both Rhea and Emily, look at me and raise their eyebrows in surprise.
Feeling sorry, I looked at them, exhaling frustratedly, saying, “I’m sorry.”
Emily took my hand and said, “It’s ok. Now, how about you tell us what is troubling you? How about we all open up to each other and share what is bothering each one of us?”
Rhea and I looked at each other, giving a small nod as we agreed with Emily’s idea.
Rhea started talking with her cheeks slightly tinting red. She said, “I’m feeling frustrated and annoyed by Warit.”
Emily and I listened to her silently, encouraging her to continue. She said, “We had a great start, and hit on quickly. Then one day when things grew serious, he just left and yes, it pissed me off, but that is not even the worse part. The worst is that you can’t proclaim your love to someone and then just leave without explanation.”
Emily and I looked at her with sadness as we listened. She continued, “Now when Allister asked for my help to save you, Nerissa, yes I said that I will only if Warit takes me out on a proper date but I don’t want it to be that way. I want him to take me out because he cares for me and wants to go out with me.”
“Will you accept to go out with him if he asks you now?” I asked her.
She looked at me and said, “If he does that then I would have only one thing on my mind and that is that he asked me only to fulfill the agreement and nothing more.”
“But I can see he has feelings for you,” Emily said.
Rhea shrugged her shoulders and said, ” I want him to prove me then, to show me he does, and not to keep me non-stop in the dark.”
Agreeing as Emily and I both understood her desire, Emily was the one to talk next, “Ryder… my mate, he has asked me to give him a second chance.”
I looked at her, asking, “What did you say?”
Looking down, she whispered, “I said that I need some time to think and decide. I mean, how am I to trust him after everything we went through?”
Rhea scowled while I looked at her sadly. She continued, “Yes, I do feel the pull, and it is getting stronger more and more since we got here.”
“He has to prove to you to earn that second chance,” Rhea said with determination sounding in her voice.
“Yes, you want to trust he will be a suitable mate, so let him prove he has changed and deserves that chance.” I agreed to Rhea and said to Emily.
“How should I do that?” Emily asked, looking at us both.
“You just spend time with him, get to know him, and see how you feel and surely at the right moment you will know the answers to all of your questions,” Rhea said to her.
Feeling it is my time to be open, I said, “I have two mates as you might already know. A few days ago, Allister and Alex asked me to choose between them, but then the weirdest thing happened.”
Emily and Rhea both scooted closer, while Emily asked, “What happened?”
“I had a kind of vision, I am not sure, but I found myself in a big house and there was laughter coming from outside and when I went out, I saw a little boy who called me mommy,” I said, thinking back to that vision that still warmed my heart whenever I would remember it.
“A little boy? Wait, that happened when you were supposed to choose between them? O dear Goddess, did you?” Emily asked, looking stunned by my words while Rhea kept silent, listening to what I was saying.
“Let me finish…” I said to Emily, who made a zip of her mouth as she sat there, waiting for me to continue. I said, “He took me through the maze and we ended up going to a truly beautiful garden, but that is not all. There was another little boy saying he tricked his daddy so we can all hide, so when we hid in their fort, of course, we were discovered quickly and that is when I saw both Alex and Allister, smiling and playing with the boys.”
“Whoa!” Rhea said while Emily’s eyes widened, asking me, “What happened then?”
“I noticed how similar the boys are to both of them and I don’t know, but it was like a vision of our future that could happen and like it was telling me what my answer should be,” I replied honestly as they nodded their heads in understanding.
“So what did you say?” Emily asked.
Smiling, I said, “I told them both that I love them and that I can’t choose. I just couldn’t, not after that glimpse of a possible future.”
“So what did they say?” Rhea asked, eager to hear more.
Remembering back to that moment, I said, “They were silent for some time, but then they both agreed to my choice.”
Rhea arched her brow at that, saying, “Just like that?”
Chuckling I answered, “Well they did stare at each other for a moment before giving a nod and saying ok, we will try.”
“But that is not all.” I added, making them look at me in confusion, so I continued, “In that vision was also someone but I don’t know why or who.”
Emily gasped while Rhea asked, “You didn’t see him?”
“I tried, but I saw just a glimpse of a person, not even who it was or was it a male or a female, but then the vision was gone.” I replied as they both said, “Oh.”
“So… will you mate with them and complete the bonding?” Rhea asked straight forward while Emily looked interested in my answer, but staying silent, I opened my mouth to answer when a pair of footsteps stopped me, making all three of us look up.
“Here you are,” Allister said with a smirk on his face, making my cheeks heat up and show red, hoping he was not close by to hear us talking.
Clearing my throat, I forced my voice to reply to him, but to my horror, it sounded breathless when I spoke. “Were you looking for me?”
His eyes grew darker as he heard me speak, looking at me with such intensity that forced me to clench my thighs together.
Smirking, he said, “I was.”
Cursing inside my mind because he was not willing to say on his own the reason and forcing me to speak once again, I asked, “Why? Is something wrong?”
A pearly white showed on his breathtaking beautiful face as he said, “No, everything is fine.” He extended his hand to me, and added, “We, kitten, are going out on a date.”
