Chapter 40
**Allister POV**
I watched after the big dragon that carried Alex with Nerissa in his arms, and I could see from where I am standing that she was unconscious, which made me wonder what happened but then I noticed the dark markings on her skin and I couldn’t keep in the growl that ripped out from my chest.
My eyes didn’t leave them as I continued to watch after them, going furthermore far away.
As my focus was set up into the far distance, where was the last time I saw the dragon, I felt a blast of power hit me in my back, making me slightly lose my balance as it more like nudged me slightly forward making me take a step forward as my eyes narrowed into slits.
I slowly turned my head to look behind me, noticing Warit pushing Rhea behind his back, protecting her as he prepared himself for the battle.
Growling as I felt rage overcome my senses, I slowly turned around and saw a tall warrior Fae, standing his ground with his hands glowing with blue light.
Seeing the anger in my eyes, he swallowed hard as I raised my hands up, letting my powers come out as my palms started to shine creating a fireball.
I saw his eyes follow the movements of my hands, making me smirk at him as I tossed the fireball straight into him, making him fall back into the hedge.
I saw more were approaching from the side, preparing to attack as I let my whole body get consumed in hot fire followed by Warit who went straight at the warriors and started to fight with them.
There were roars and growls coming from all sides as the fire started to burn from one side of the hedge.
I was in pure rage, taking it out on anyone who dared to cross my path.
They were no match to me nor my powers as they tried even in unity to take me down with their powers, but to no avail.
I grabbed one warrior, slamming my fist into his face when I heard Rhea cry out, “Warit!!”
Hearing her shout, I turned my head around to the other side just to see Warit fighting off six of the warriors as two others were preparing to shoot him down with the force of their powers.
I focused my senses and made a huge fireball, tossing it straight at the two Fae that were about to knock Warit down.
“Thanks, cousin!” I saw Warit wave at me the moment he fought off the Fae’s, smiling as this was just an ordinary day.
I gave him a nod as I walked ahead towards the stage where I noticed a male laying down in a pool of blood.
Slowly, as I walked closer, I noticed he is a shifter, a dragon shifter to be correct, making me wonder why he was left behind and didn’t go with his own.
The flames that covered my whole body slowly sub-stained as I crunched down to take a closer look at the male.
Extending my hand, I grabbed the male’s shoulder, turning him around, and that is when I noticed the resemblance between Alex and this unconscious male.
I noticed the markings that covered his chest and arms, resembling greatly to the ones I noticed on Nerissa’s body, making me scrunch down my eyes as I inspected the drawings closer, trying to figure them out.
Warit and Rhea rushed towards me, noticing the male that was unconscious in front of me.
“Who is that?” Warit asked the moment he walked closer to me.
I looked around the area and saw fire eating the hedge as many unconscious Fae warriors were down on the ground while others rushed to put the fire down, I turned my head towards the male on the ground and said to Warit, “If I am not mistaken, this might be Alex’s brother.”
Warit looked at me with a raised eyebrow, asking, “And how would you know if he is?”
“He looks similar to Alex, so I am guessing they must be brothers.” I simply told him, making him silent as he looked down at the unconscious male.
“So what will we do now?” Rhea asked, making Warit and I turn our heads to her as I answered, “We will find out what exactly happened here and get my mate back.”
“And what about him?” Warit said, pointing a finger at the unconscious male.
As I was about to answer him, the sounds of groans grabbed our attention as we all looked towards the male on the ground.
I saw him slowly raising his hand to touch his forehead as slowly he peeled his eyes open, squinting as he looked at us three.
“Who are you?” a rough, raspy voice came from the male as he narrowed his eyes at us, trying to sit up but decided against it as he groaned in pain.
Silently I watched him as Warit jumped in and spoke, “I am Warit, this is Rhea, and this is Allister or known to all as a King of the Underworld.”
I saw his eyes snap at me as they widened from recognition, making me smirk internally.
I leaned down closer to him, asking him, “What is your name?”
He looked at me, saying, “Reynard…”
I gave him a hand, helping him sit up as I continued to question him, “Now Reynard, are you the brother of Alpha Alexander of Draconis pack?”
I noticed his eyes narrowed as his nostrils flared, piquing my interest in such hateful emotions that the male just displayed. He said, “Why do you wish to know?”
I looked at his eyes that were looking at me arrogantly as I said, “I want to see will you dear to lie to me.”
A snorting sound followed by a chuckle and a slap, making Reynard look in the way of Warit and Rhea as I never took my eyes off of him.
He looked back at me and said, slowly, ” Yes, I am.”
Silently, I let my powers take over me like an invisible claw wrapped around his brain, making me if I wanted to use it, look inside if he was unwilling to answer my questions.
“I will warn you, Reynard, if you lie to me I will know. If you think something is wrong I will know, so be very smart about what path you will choose in answering my next questions.” I spoke in a low, cold voice that left no room in arguing as he reluctantly nodded his head.
“Good, let’s try then, shall we?” I said with a sharp glare as I continued, “What happened here?”
His eyes looked around the area as he said with a smirk, “Apparently, you did.”
A growl of warning sounded from my chest as I let the aura of my power out, making him swallow loudly as I said, “Do not test me, or you might regret it. Now try once again.”
He took a deep breath, exhaling loudly as he said, “It was a ritual but I don’t know if it is completed or not.”
Narrowing my eyes at him, I looked once more down over his dark markings, trying to piece them together with all my knowledge of dark magic, I asked him, “What ritual?”
He looked at me and I could clearly see he was debating whether to tell me or not, so I slowly dived inside his thoughts, hearing them loudly inside my head; ‘I need to play my cards right if I want to get what is rightfully mine.’
Not liking his words, I narrowed my eyes at him as I asked him, “And what is it that you believe is rightfully yours?”
His eyes widened upon hearing my words, stammering, he asked, “H-how…”
“How did I know you mean? Well, I told you, I will know every thought, memory, anything I wish if I feel you aren’t honest, now what is rightfully yours?” I told him as I cut his stammering off.
“My brother, Alex, he doesn’t deserve to be Alpha to Draconis, they should be under mine leadership!” He said with so much hatred in his voice as I silently listened.
“So you resent your brother because he is an Alpha?” I asked him as he reluctantly nodded his head answering, “It shouldn’t have been him, I am the oldest, and it is my rightful title!”
“Tell me about this ritual,” I asked him.
His eyes darted around, finally at the end landing on me as he said, “Only if you will help me in my plans?”
I looked down at him closely, searching around his mind, listening closely, weighing down my decision when finally I decided to make him look at me closely, waiting to see what my answer is going to be.
I looked towards Warit and Rhea for a moment before I looked back at Reynard, answering him, “And what is your plan?”
