98. The Plot.
[Crystal]
"What the fuck happened?" I yelled angrily at the bloodied man before me. "You couldn't even get a simple job done."
"She wasn't alone, you told me she would be alone but Luke showed up there." He replied, holding his broken nose.
"What?" I asked him in surprise then I noticed blood seeping from his wounds onto my rug.
"Can somebody get this man some ice or whatever, he's dripping blood all over my rug." I sneered at him and then frowned as I was in deep thought.
If Luke had spent the night with that woman, it must mean that they had reconciled and that was a bad thing. If he reconciled with her then it would be a matter of time before he decided to make things official and I wouldn't have anything to hold over his head anymore.
I know what you're thinking, oh, she's obsessed with her ex and now that he's moving on with someone she's here to ruin his life.
Obsessed, ha, that cannot be farther from the truth.
The truth is I don't fall in love, that's not my cup of tea, I'm a business woman and love, love is definitely not in any cheque books I'd seen recently.
Love pays no bills, in fact it makes you a simp and a pathetic one at that.
You want to find out why I'm after Luke don't you?
Well, let me just tell you that my boy is a walking cheque.
I already knew who he was before I approached him at Harvard University. I thought I could get him to love me and then use that love to my advantage but my boy was taking too long to fall for me.
I think he actually did at some point but it wasn't solid enough like I would have wanted and since I was getting extremely bored and I needed a lavish vacation, I blackmailed him and got away with a huge sum of money but it's never enough, is it?
No.
So here I am, back for more money and this time I will make sure to cash a big bag so that I will never have to work again for the rest of my life.
I was thinking of relocating to the Cayman islands, Bora Bora or Aruba, just one of them vacation islands to live the rest of my life, maybe Fiji.
First the girl had to go so I asked my good for nothing older brother Ethan to do the job but he'd come back home with a bloodied nose.
Why I got to do everything by myself, huh?
I paced the length of the room as I began to think of my next move.
You see when I mentioned securing the ultimate bag, I didn't just mean from Luke, that's the point where me being a business woman comes to play.
I was using one stone to kill multiple birds, it wasn't hard to find Mr Hamilton's enemies, in fact I contacted the closest one to him who was supposed to be dead and she would benefit from the death of the girl which I also in turn would too.
Another man for love and practically stupidity to me wanted to keep her all to himself and if I managed to tear her apart from Luke, I would also reap my investments, thing is he never mentioned if he wanted her alive or dead so I automatically picked the second option for him, way easier.
There's a long list, I could go on, the royal family also had an age long rival who wanted nothing more than to see them crumple and I had just the right explosive in my hands to cause such a catastrophe they'd never recover from, I just had to place my cards right.
Now, do you see that I'm not just your ordinary mediocre villain.
My phone rang, distracting me from my thoughts and I smiled to myself as I saw the name flash across the screen.
"Baby boo." I purred as soon as I answered the call.
"You hateful bitch." The person responded hatefully.
"Wow, Luke, I did not think you had it in you." I shook my head.
"Don't think I don't know what you did last night, I warned you, Crystal, I warned you not to mess with me and Claire but you did and now you will face the consequences." He threatened me and rudely hung up the phone.
"And what are you going to do?" I chuckled as I dropped my phone back down.
I wasn't terrified because I had protection, I had a lot of connections and each of them owed me a favor so I wasn't bothered about Luke's threat besides it wasn't the first time he had threatened me.
I remembered after he paid me off the first time, he clearly said "you better not show up in front of me again or I will make your life a living hell."
But I showed up and he did nothing.
Several messages popped up on my phone from my investors. I liked to call my contractors that, after all they were investing in my big bag.
This was a very dangerous line of work and after scamming people for more than seven years, even large corporations, I decided that I wanted to go out in style.
I took a seat and hurriedly replied all the messages, I just basically assured them that things were moving according to plan even though my stupid brother had messed things up, he was significantly bigger than Luke, I did not know why he couldn't handle him and do the simple job I gave him, he was after all the one who come running to me begging for a job.
Yes, that's right, he was just released from jail and you know how life is for an ex-con, he needed the cash and I needed someone to do all my dirty work.
He'd been in and out of first juvenile then the state penitentiary since he was sixteen, I was the brains of the operations while my brother was the dumb brawns that was why he kept getting caught and put behind bars for most of my crimes while I got to stay on the otherside and enjoy the money.
You're asking why I'm so messed up right?
Okay, I'll tell you, this is what happens when a drug addict and abusive father raises children with a gold digger and prostitute of a mother.
Yeah, they both died of drug overdose leaving us to fend for ourselves in this cold world and even though I was just eight when they died and Ethan was eleven, I already knew that I was on my own and that if I wanted to get by, I'd have to walk all over people before they got to do that to me, that too and making others responsible for my crimes.
Yes, that's where Ethan comes to play, besides if I had left him alone, he would have been dead a long time ago.
The world would never love or accept someone like me and I only applied what I was thought from both my fucked up parents and the streets I grew up in.
I already knew from the first time a woman stepped on me with her red bottoms heels that I was destined for greatness and now I owned a large collection of red bottoms, it became kind of my fetish.
I'd never really been to college but for Luke, it wasn't hard to pretend to be a journalism major and because of that act, I actually gained footing in the industry.
"What are we going to do now?" My brother walked in with band-aids all over him and asked.
"What are you going to do?" I corrected and he nodded. "I am very disappointed in you, Ethan, you're such a fucking retard, how could you let someone who is not your size beat you like that?"
"I'm sorry, Crys, I wasn't looking, he grabbed my foot and pulled me down hard." He said touching his bandaged nose. "Just tell me what to do, I'll do anything, I promise."
Now, that's what I like to hear.
"We're going to move up the plan since we have no more time and we're already behind as it is." I said and I smirked.
"Move up the plan." He repeated lazily.
Damn retard.
"Ethan, the plan, the other plan." I screamed at him.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah yeah." His eyes lit up and he hurriedly said. "Yes I remember what you need me to do."
"Good." I smiled and began to laugh evilly.
"Crys, that's a very scary laugh." He said and I frowned.
"What the fuck are you still doing here, get the fuck out?" I chased him away and sighed after he left.
My mother has used so much dope during his pregnancy it was like he came out of her womb without a brain.
Fortunately the dope she used during my pregnancy amped up my brain rather than reduce it to nothing like Ethan's.
