106. After the Rubble.

[Luke]
Tears welled up in my eyes when I entered the room and saw Claire laying on the bed, she looked very fragile and she had a confused look on her face.
"Claire." I rushed to her side and smiled at her happily, I couldn't believe my luck, Claire was fine and well, so also was the child.
"Who are you?" She pulled her hand away from mine and my heart dropped.
"What is wrong with her?" I turned to the woman and her son who'd saved her and had been caring for her.
"She hit her head really bad, it might be causing some sort of memory loss." She said and I winced.
"Memory loss?" I asked looking at a confused Claire. "You're saying she might not know who I am?"
"I'm sorry your highness." The woman said sadly and I stumbled slightly.
I was still feeling very weak after starving myself for days and my fainting spell.
Immediately I opened my eyes, I immediately went to find Claire, defying all the doctor's orders.
"We need to take her to a real hospital." I said and took one look at her before leaving the room, Liam was on the otherside of the door and he'd heard what happened inside, he opened his arms for me and I walked into them and cried my heart out.
"She'll be fine, I promise you." He assured me.
I calmed myself down quickly as the woman and her son came out of the room.
"Thank you very much for helping her." I thanked them properly. "But if you don't mind, I'd like to hear the full story."
"Yes, sir."
"I'll go arrange for the helicopter to take her to the hospital." Liam said and walked away.
"It was my son who found her." The woman started and I nodded my head.
"Please let him speak then."
"Y-yes, your royal highness." The boy seemed very nervous.
"You don't have to be nervous, you've done a great thing." I tapped him on the shoulder and smiled warmly at him.
As he started explaining, I balled my hands into fists beside me, I wished Sir George hadn't been killed so that I could kill him with my own bare hands.
Crystal was currently hospitalized and she would be tried and sent to jail when she got out, also Eve but she would be sent to a mental facility because she wasn't of sound mind.
I wished that I could find them and teach them a very good lesson but the law would not allow me to touch them, even if I was currently acting as the King.
"So you're saying when you found her she was unconscious?" I asked, interrupting him because I had zoned out at one point.
"Yes, sir, I found her body floating in the river and I thought that she had mistakenly fallen into the water. I helped her out of the water immediately and that was when I noticed that her head was bleeding, I rushed her to my mother and she revived her using some herbs." He said and I nodded.
"I thank you for everything, we'll take it from here, my team will reach out to you and reward you for your good deeds but if there's anything else you need, please do not hesitate to ask, you have brought me back to life, you have brought my life back to me with this act." I said and gave them a small hug.
"Thank you, your highness." They curtsied and I walked back into the room.
When I got inside, Claire was asleep, I touched her forehead and she didn't seem to have any fever.
I examined her body and found that her wounds have already been patched by the woman, I leaned down and place a big kiss on her head and I rubbed her tummy.
"Mom." I whispered quietly. "They have come back to me."

"What is wrong with her doctor?" I stood up from the bench and ran up to the doctor the minute he left Claire's room.
"It's a miracle she's alive and the baby." He said.
"How is the baby, was there really no damage done to the child?" I asked fearfully.
"We ran a lot of tests on the child and the mother and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the child, the child's heartbeat is strong and the uterus is not damaged." He replied.
"So the child is safe?" I asked.
"Our tests show so, yes but we don't know what would happen in the future, the pregnancy has been really stressed and we do not know how much it will affect the foetus, we advice her not to do anything stressful for the rest of her term. He said and I nodded.
"Why doesn't she remember anything?" I asked him."
"Right, that is quite normal, she took a really bad hit to the head and she's lucky not to have suffered a concussion, the brain scan conducted on her shows that she may have amnesia, so that's why she doesn't remember anything." He said.
"So, how long are we talking about?" I asked him.
"First her wounds need to heal properly, I cannot tell you how long but I can assure you that her amnesia is temporary, once her head gets better, I'm sure she will start to remember things, in the meantime, I'd advise you not to pressure her into remembering, let her recollect at her own pace or it could cause damage to her brain." He said and I nodded.
"Thank you very much, doctor."
"Your royal highness." He curtsied before leaving.
I sighed after he left and took a seat, I couldn't believe that two of my loved ones were currently hospitalized in the same hospital, one couldn't recognize me and the other couldn't open his eyes.
A few minutes later, Sir Hamilton and Claire's mother rushed into the hospital.
"Where is she?" He demanded immediately, he looked relieved that she was okay but he was really anxious to see his daughter.
"She's resting now, the doctors gave her some medicine." I said and showed him a seat.
Claire's mother was crying bitterly and I guessed she had just found out that Claire had gone missing.
"How is she doing, and the baby?" She asked.
"They are both fine." I smiled sadly at the both of them. "The baby is healthy and Claire is recovering well but she sustained a bad blow to the head and she's having trouble remembering anything right now." I said and she burst into tears.
Mr Hamilton looked pained too but he controlled himself well, he held Claire's mother in his arms and consoled her.
"How long will this last?" He asked me.
"They don't know, but they know that it's not permanent, the doctor said she might start to remember once her wounds start to heal." I said.
"Fine, once she's discharged she's coming back to America with us." He said and I shook my head.
"I'm afraid that's not possible sir." I frowned at him.
"Why not?" He frowned back.
"The doctors." I lied. "The doctors do not recommend it, she's to rest without putting pressure on the pregnancy or her head, she can't really fly right now." I said and he thought for a while before he nodded in agreement.
"I suppose we can stay here for a few weeks." He said.
The doctors didn't say that she couldn't travel but he did say for her to avoid putting pressure on the pregnancy and herself.
I didn't want Claire to leave my sight so I just had to made that up real quick, I was afraid that she would go back to America and forget all about me so I wanted her to be right where I could watch over her.
"Your royal highness." One of the nurses rushed to me.
"Yes, is anything the matter?" I asked, standing up immediately.
"The doctor would like to speak to you, please." She said and I nodded then looked back at Claire's parents.
"Oh no, it's not about the young woman that was brought in today." She shook her head vigorously. "It's about your father, the King."
"What's wrong with the King?" I asked and she shrugged. "Well then, lead the way immediately." I nearly snapped at her.
She led me to the front of my father's room, it was the only room on this side of the floor as it was very private and restricted, it was only used by the royal family.
"What's wrong, doctor?" I asked immediately.
"The King reacted, I thought since you were here you would want to see it." He smiled at me.
"That's very nice of you, doctor." I smiled at him and looked at my father who had all sorts of tubes, wires and drips attached to his body.
"How did he react?" I asked the doctor, looking for any sign of movement.
"He moved all his fingers and his toes, his eyes also moved, we think he's about to wake up." He said
