68. The Crashing Wave.
[Claire]
My muscles felt sore and my legs felt heavy as I opened my eyes. I felt the bed beside me and was shocked to find it empty and cold.
I winced as I swung my legs down the bed and got up, I was definitely sore between my legs.
I began to panic as I looked around for Jean, had I sucked so much last night? Had he left because he'd gotten everything he wanted from me.
I sighed out of relief when I checked the wardrobe and found his stuff still intact, he couldn't have left without his things.
A pink note sticking out of a drawer caught my eye and I pulled it out. It was a phone number written in fancy lettering and it had the name Crystal at the top of it.
I sniffed the note and it was definitely a woman who gave it to him because I could smell the perfume.
My thoughts began to go dark and I decided to investigate to find out more before I knew how I would react.
I opened the drawer completely and started going through his stuff. I didn't find anything else that was suspicious so I just decided to ask him about it later.
I was about to close the drawer when I caught sight of a document he had.
The name on it was Prince Luke Christensen, I wondered why he had the prince's documents with him and then I found his passport.
I gasped in shock and dropped the passport immediately when I saw the image that accompanied the same name.
It was Jean, Jean was the Prince, he was Prince Luke Christensen.
And worse, he was engaged.
It all made sense now, why he couldn't take me to his chambers in the palace, why I'd never met his family members or his friends, why he'd never introduced me to his co-workers, why no one had seen the Prince's face.
I now understood the many similarities between him and the Prince, it was because he was the Prince, Jean was the Prince of Denmark, no wonder he'd been so upset when I asked if he could help me get the picture of the Prince.
He'd deceived me, he'd lied to me, all these while I thought he was someone else when he was another, all the things he said to me, I wondered now if he truly meant it or if he was just saying it just to get to me.
Tears poured down my face as I hurriedly packed my things into my suitcase, I didn't want to see him ever again, it hurt too much and I just wanted to leave before he got back from wherever he was.
"Goodbye your royal highness." I wrote a small note on a piece of paper and I placed it directly beside the passport so he'd know that I already found out the truth.
I raced out of the resort and in a few minutes I was on a plane back to Denmark alone.
I couldn't breathe, my chest hurt and I didn't know how to handle the pain. I remembered all the moments we'd spent together and I couldn't believe that I'd been blind to the clear signs that were there.
I couldn't control my tears and they poured down my face unchecked, he had broken my heart and he had ruined me for other men, because of him I'd never be able to trust or love any one ever again.

[Luke]
I had the best sleep last night, I'd worn Claire out even when I'd tried to hold back and she slept immediately I'd finished cleaning her up.
I'd fantasized the day I would finally make her mine but none of my fantasies could ever compare with the real thing.
I felt guilty that I'd not been able to tell her the truth last night but the way she'd been looking at me and the way she'd been eager and so responsive, there was no way I'd have been able to get a word out.
"I love you." I whispered in her ear and pecked her on the forehead as I got out of bed, I noticed the blood stain on the sheets and I winced.
She must be in a lot of pain, so I decided to get up to go and get something to help with the soreness she was sure to feel when she awoke and a little surprise breakfast.
My phone rang as I reached the door and I walked back to pick it up.
It was a call from Sir Thomas, I exited the room quietly and swiftly before I answered the call.
"Hello,"
"Tom?" I asked eagerly.
"Yes, Luke, it has all been resolved, the problem has been taken care of, you can return back to the country now." He said.
"Thank you very much, Tom." I smiled as I thanked him.
"You don't have to thank me, I'm only doing my side of the bargain, I hope you have told the woman the truth?"
"I'm going to tell her today." I sighed.
"Luke!" He yelled and then disconnected the phone call.
I sighed and I began to think of ways to address the topic with Claire.
"Claire, I have something to tell you, I'm not who you think I am."
No, too forward.
"Claire, there's something I have to tell you but promise me that you won't get mad, I'm sorry but I have been lying to you all these while."
No, absolutely not!
"Claire, I'm so sorry but I have to tell you the truth, my real name isn't Jean, my real name is Lucas and I'm the Prince of Denmark."
No, no, no, no, no.
I felt terrible, there was no easy way to say this, I would have to just rip the band aid off, I was scared of her reaction because Claire had never really gotten seriously mad at me before so I had no idea how she was going to process the news.
I asked the receptionist for the directions to a store and I googled online for things I could get to help with her soreness.
So many pages suggested a warm bath and I decided to get her the best bath bomb I could find in the store.
I walked back to the room a little somber because I knew that I could not put off the truth any longer, she had to know the truth and now.
The coldness and quietness of the room greeted me when I entered the room, I looked around and couldn't find Claire anywhere.
I caught sight of a note on the table next to my passport and I froze, I couldn't believe it.
"Goodbye your royal highness." The note read, my vision became blurry as tears began to drop from my eyes on the note.
I couldn't believe that she'd found out the truth, I hurriedly walked to the wardrobe and though I was not surprised to find her things gone, it hurt like a bitch.
I picked up the phone and dialed her number immediately but it was just going to voicemail, she must have switched up her phone.
I rushed out to the reception to see if I could catch her before she'd gone too far.
"My girlfriend that I came with, where is she?" I demanded breathlessly.
"She left about forty minutes ago, Sir." The woman said.
"AND YOU DIDN'T THINK TO INFORM ME!" I yelled angrily even though I knew that it was no fault of theirs.
I rushed outside and called a taxi immediately.
"Take me to the airport, IMMEDIATELY." I yelled.
I jumped out of the taxi before it stopped properly and I rushed into the airport.
"Flight to Denmark?" I asked at the counter.
"I'm sorry sir but the flight just left, you will have to wait till noon for the next flight."
I dropped to the floor immediately after the woman finished speaking.
I was too late, Claire had left me and there was nothing I could do now, I wondered if she would stay in Denmark or she would move back to America immediately.
"Liam, she's gone, she left me." I cried out as I placed a call to my friend.
"What are you saying, please calm down, I can't understand you." He said.
"It's Claire." I sniffed. "She found out the truth and she left, she left before I even had a chance to explain things to her."
"Oh, I'm so sorry Luke, you have to pull yourself together, you can still win her back." He said.
"No, she didn't even wait to listen to my explanation, she doesn't want to see me ever again, I lost her, I lost her Liam and she'd never forgive me ever."
Tears poured out of my eyes as I left the airport, I went back to the resort to pack my things and check out, I felt very weak, I tried to call Sophie and even Michele but none of them were picking up.
