110. The King's Decision 2.
[Claire]
The container dropping to the ground might not have woken my mother up but hitting my head on the kitchen cabinet sure did.
I watched the man as he turned and picked up a woman in his arms, they had their backs to me so I couldn't see them very clearly.
I was about to go to them before my mother rushed out of her room.
"Claire, are you alright, what is wrong with you?" She asked worriedly but I was too engrossed in the man and the woman to answer her.
I just kept staring straight ahead with dark eyes, my hand fell limply to the side and the container dropped again to the floor, this time it was my mother who picked it up and dropped it on the counter.
She noticed that I was not responding and neither was I moving so she began to panic and she rushed to me and started tapping me.
"Claire, talk to me, what's wrong with you, why are you just standing there unmoving?" She asked and was yet again met with silence.
I could hear her, I just couldn't respond to her, it was like I'd been trapped in my mind, it was like I'd travelled into my mind in that second and I was watching my life like it were a movie at a cinema.
"I love you, Claire and I promise that I always will." The man said and I frowned.
I was Claire, why was he calling the other woman Claire.
The both of them turned to me and that was when I realized that my hunches were true, I was indeed trapped in my mind, the hit to the head that I'd taken must have triggered some kind of memory replay that I was now trapped in.
I watched as the professed their love to each other and then made out, one by one, different scenes played in my head, all the memories that I'd forgotten were coming back to me, some were nice and happy, while others were sad and they even made me cry.
My mother must have noticed the tears because she began wailing and searching frantically for what I guessed was the phone.
She probably wanted to give the doctor a call.
I heard her on the phone with him, even though it was the middle of the night, the doctor assured her that he was going to come immediately.
The more memories I watched, the more my head began to feel hot and soon it began to throb badly.
My body began to tremble when I began to reach the last of my memories and my vision turned dark immediately I recollected my kidnapping.
"Claire." My mother yelled as I fell slowly to the ground, she must have caught me before I fell because I felt her arms wrapping around me and her cold tears dropping on my face.

"She's waking up, we have to get the doctor." The voices were familiar, the scent was familiar and even the beeping noises.
You're right, I was at the hospital and I was just coming to.
The moment I opened my eyes, I took a deep breath and looked around me, I didn't feel strange, maybe just a little tired and a little discomfort but that was all.
"Miss, you're awake, how are you feeling?" The doctor asked when he came inside.
"I'm okay, just a little tired and uncomfortable." I told him truthfully.
"Yeah, I'm sorry about that, please excuse me." He said and then turned to the nurses to give them some instructions.
"Do you feel any pain, anywhere?" He asked.
"No, is something wrong?" I asked, panicking.
"No, is there anything else you'd like to tell me at ask me."
"Yes, I remember everything." I told him and he nodded.
"I guessed that, your wound is all healed up, I didn't want to carry out another scan because of your pregnancy, I just didn't know if you were still feeling any pain." He explained.
"Alright, my head felt hot and it throbbed badly just before I passed out." I told him.
"Okay, that's probably because the brain was stressed out, all that information to process at once would be tiring for even a computer." He joked and I laughed.
He was right though, I had a lot of memories.
"Doctor, does… um… the Prince know about it yet?" I asked him.
"No, he has been informed that you're at the hospital but that's about it." He said.
"Please can we keep this between us for now?" I asked and he nodded.
"Of course, I'll speak to the nurses." He smiled, wrote something in his notepad and walked out of the room to attend to other patients.
A delivery man walked in with a vase of beautiful flowers and he set them down on the table and said.
"Delivery for Miss Hamilton."
"Thank you." I replied as he left, I did not bother to ask who they were from, I already knew.
After fussing with the drips, the nurses left me alone in the room, they wanted to invite my mother in but I asked them to tell her that I was asleep because I needed some time to myself, I wanted to be alone.
I lay on my left side on the narrow hospital bed and took a deep breath.
I'd been through a lot no doubt but it had given me more appreciation for life, I wanted to let go of all the bad things that had happen in my life so that I could enjoy the good thing that were to come.
My child was strong, despite all the ordeals that I'd gone through, I didn't miscarry and my child was still developing normally and I would be due in about three months time.
I was thankful that I'd regained my memory because I now knew who the father of my child was, I didn't want to have issues with him after my child was born, I wanted us to have an amiable relationship so that my child could grow up in a good environment and have his or her father and mother by her side.

"Where are you going?" Sir Thomas asked as I rushed past him without saying hello.
"I'm sorry, hello Sir Thomas, I'm actually in a bit of a hurry right now, I just got a call from the hospital, Claire has been hospitalized again."
"I'm sorry about that, that's rather unfortunate." He said, sympathizing with me but then he stood in my way, preventing me from leaving.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"I'm afraid I can't let you leave the palace, your royal highness." He spoke formally and I frowned.
"Excuse me, please, I have to go Tom, it's urgent and you know it too."
"Yes, but this is just as urgent, she has her family with her."
"Why?" I asked frowning at him, I did not attempt to push him out of the way because I couldn't, even if I could, I would not get far before I'd be stopped by the hundreds of guards we had in the palace, from the way he was acting, it was obvious that this was the King's orders.
"The King just called for a press conference and he wants you to be by his side because he's about to make a big announcement." He said.
"Okay, how many minutes?" I asked him.
"Not enough for you to go and see her and come back." He answered and I groaned.
"Fine, I'll just send her some flowers then but immediately after the press conference, I'm leaving." I told him and he nodded.
"Of course, please go to you room and prepare for the press conference, they'll be here in a few minutes."

"I would like to express my thanks to everyone in the royal family who stood by me during my darkest times." The King started and I tried not to show any emotion on my face because I knew that the press would spin it into something else.
"I thought no one was supposed to know about that?" I whispered into the King's ear.
"There's no point in keeping secrets." He whispered back and I nodded my head and looked forward.
"Not many of you know this but I just got back from the hospital where I was being treated, it was during that time that I had an epiphany, the old ways serve us no longer and I'm here to tell you that we will start to do things in a new way." He continued.
"What are you trying to say, your highness?" A reporter asked him and I turnt to him too because I also wanted to know what that meant.
"Effective immediately, I will be stepping down from my position as the King of Denmark and I will be passing the throne to my son, the crown Prince of Denmark, Prince Lucas Jean Christensen.
