91. Only the child 2.

[Claire]
The silence stretched uncomfortably after Sophie's question and when I couldn't take it anymore I grabbed the phone from Michele and ended the call immediately.
"Why did you do that?" Sophie scolded me but I ignored her and dropped my phone in the cup holder.
"He clearly doesn't know what he wants." I mused silently to myself and we changed the topic to something else.
Sophie and Michele kept telling me different stories about what had happened in Denmark after I left and I kept laughing till water spewed out down there.
"Oh my God, I think I just peed." I laughed getting out of the car.
"Wow, your house is amazing." Michele and Sophie looked at the mansion in a daze.
"It's my Dad's." I grumbled and led them to the guest house. "Sorry, we can't go in there tonight." I told them.
The maids had already cleaned and arranged the guest house when we got there, they had even taken the liberty to pack soke outfits for me there but I was sure they'd done that on my mother's orders.
"Would you like anything?" I asked them as I rushed to the bathroom to change my wet underwear.
Pregnancy was changing my body and making experience different things but they were all exciting.
When I got back, Sophie and Michele had already settled in and they were sharing a bottle of wine.
"It must be nice." I chuckled when I got to them and sad down.
"Of course it is, shame you can't drink." Sophie joked and they both laughed at me.
"Yeah, yeah." I stuck my tongue out at them and before I could say anything else, my phone rang.
My heart beat increased as I saw the name flash across the screen.
"Hi." I said simply.
"Claire, I suppose you've gotten home." He said and I nodded like he could see me.
"What do you want, Luke?" I asked him and he paused for a while.
"You called me Luke." I could hear the excitement in his voice and I just had to ruin it.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I should have called you Prince Luke or better still, your royal highness."
"Claire, that's really unfair." He said sadly.
"I'm sorry." I sighed and itched my forehead. "I'm just really tired, I'm going to bed."
"Wait."
"What?"
"I haven't answered Sophie's question." He said and my heart leaped in my chest.
"I was of the opinion that you didn't have an answer."
"I knew that's what you thought, I wanted to tell you personally, I wanted you to hear it from me first." He said and I frowned but I decided to let it go.
"I want you, I want you Claire, all of you and the baby." He sounded sincere and I couldn't help but believe him.
"I-I'm sorry Luke, I have to think about it, I can't give you an answer just yet."
"How about tomorrow?"
"What?"
"I could pick you up around noon and we could have lunch." He said.
"Jean, it's too soon, I don't know…." My voice broke as I spoke, I couldn't bring myself to forget the hurt and betrayal he'd made me feel, I couldn't just forget everything and jump into his arms like nothing happened because he wanted me now.
"I understand, Claire but there's no much time, it's me, I'm Jean and I'm Luke, I'd like for you to give me a chance to explain everything, please, you never did hear me out." He said and I sighed defeatedly.
"Fine, I can do lunch tomorrow." I told him.
"Great, I'll see you then." He lowered his voice to an almost whisper and I suddenly started to feel hot.
I ended the call and looked at my now tipsy friends on the sofa.
I was glad to have them, I'd missed them so much and I was happy that they'd be to support me.
"I'm turning in." I told them and turned to go inside. "Make sure you attend to them." I told the maid before I entered my room and shit the door.
My shaky legs gave way as I slid down to the floor, the tears I'd been holding in finally escaped and they poured down my face, I did not make a sound, I just kept on crying silently.
Jean was the love of my life and though he'd lied to me, I still loved him and I had to accept the fact that Jean and Luke were the same person.
In fact Luke was even more real than Jean, Jean had been a facade and Luke was the real one.

"Claire, get up."
I did not know how Sophie woke up earlier than I did even though she'd gotten drunk with her brother on the sofa last night but she was up and she was bothering me.
"Go away, it's so early." I groaned and sleepily turned to the otherside.
"Come on, wake up, it's almost noon."
Her statement was enough to wake me up and I nearly jumped off the bed.
"Good morning." I smiled at her. "Where's Michele?" I asked.
"Making breakfast." She answered and I smiled.
I'd missed his breakfast and I was sure that they'd already sent the maids off.
I got out of bed, brushed my teeth and washed my face in the sink before I went to the living room.
"Smells yummy." I beamed at the breakfast spread on the table and I hurriedly took a seat as my stomach was already rumbling.
"Ha, so you were hungry, you wouldn't have gotten up if Sophie didn't wake you?" Michele said as I scooped food unto my plate.
"Hey, don't blame me, it's the child that has me acting up." I told him.
"Nonsense, I could never blame the child, the child is the only reason I'm tolerating you right now, I can't wait to be an uncle." He said and I laughed.
I knew that both Sophie and Michele would love my child so much they would spoil it rotten.
After breakfast, we went back to the mansion and I introduced Michele to my family, they'd already met Sophie the first time she was here.
Michele was a charmer and so he fit right in with my family and it also helped that my father and mother seemed to be in a very good mood.
My mother was practically glowing.
I chatted with them for a while and soon it was almost noon.
Michele and Sophie offered to get me ready but I refused because I didn't want it to seek like I'd done anything much for him.
I put on a pair of jeans and a blazer, I curled my hair around my face applied light makeup and I was ready to go.
Immediately the clock struck noon, the guard rushed in and informed me of Luke's arrival.
I wanted to go out and join him but he came inside the house.
"Claire, you look dashing." He hugged me and whispered in my ear.
"Thank you." I released my hold on him, trying hard not to blush.
"Luke, good to see you again." My father beamed at him.
"Ma'am." He greeted my mother but she answered him coldly.
"Bring my daughter back safe and you better not make her cry." She said and he nodded.
"If she'll let me, I promise to make her smile from now on." He said and I rolled my eyes behind him.
"Sophie, hello." Luke stretched his hand towards her but she ignored it.
"Luke, how is it going?" Michele stepped in and shook his hand.
"It's alright, thank you Michele." He smiled at him.
"You know that we have to talk." Sophie finally spoke and he nodded.
"Of course, I'm still in the city, anytime just call me." He smiled.
"Have a great time." My father waved us goodbye as we left, he wanted to see us off but my mother stopped him.
"Remember what I said, Luke."
"Yes ma'am."
"You're very loved, do you realize that?" He asked as we stepped outside.
"Yes, I know." I answered curtly and opened my own door before he could do that for me.
"Claire." He started.
"What, you wanted us to talk, I said yes but I never said I would be nice to you." I glared at him.
"Fair enough." He smiled at me and I almost smiled back but I caught myself.
"Where're we going?" I asked him as he started the car.
"You'll see." He told me and I was instantly reminded of all the secret dates we'd been on in the past.
If I knew him well, I knew that he was taking me to a seaside or lakeside restaurant.
I was right, after a short ride, we arrived at a very classy restaurant, I'd not particularly been but I'd heard about the restaurant from others and they had nothing but good words for it.
"Thank you." I said when he opened my chair for me.
"Always, anything for you." He said and my heart skipped a beat.
We had barely settled down to eat before a woman rushed to us, I recognized her to be the woman I'd met in the club that day and I could not mistake the dark look on Luke's face.
