Game On

RHEA
Pacing back and forth in the sitting room of Jaden's home was making me more anxious and no matter how much I tried not to think negatively, the thoughts continued to swam my mind. I didn't know where Jaden had gone to. But, whatever business he'd gone to attend to, had seemed both important and intense, judging from his statements.
I didn't know a lot about Jaden, but I couldn't help but worry. Maybe, it was the mate bond making me feel like that. I sat down on the couch and stared at the TV. Still, I couldn't concentrate.
My eyes widened when the door opened and Jaden walked in, his facial features expressionless. He ignored me and walked right past me. I glared at his retreating figure and let out an irritated huff. Then, I patted my cheeks and let out a sigh.
'What on Earth are you doing, Rhea? Why are you trying to get his attention? He doesn't even want you' I thought.
The door opened and Trisha walked in. She ignored me and went upstairs.
"Jaden?!" She called out and my stomach churned.
'Get a grip, Rhea!' I groaned mentally and rose to my feet. I went back to my room and dropped down on my bed. The lights began to flicker and I sat up immediately, my eyes wide.
"Who's there?" I said and the lights stopped flickering.
"Quit messing with me! Show yourself, you coward!" I hissed. I got no response. So, I laid down on the bed and closed my eyes. I ended up dozing off.
The room was burning hot and I was sweating. I opened my eyes and looked around, alarmed when I saw that the room had caught fire. The only thing that was unscathed was my bed. I quickly sat up, panic doubling my heart rate. I rose to my feet on the bed, only to find that the door was wide open. I could see Jaden. He was sitting on a couch. "Jaden!" I yelled, but he didn't turn to look at me. I yelled again and again. Nevertheless, I got no reaction from him. The fire was creeping towards my bed and the room was growing hotter.
"Jaden, please! Help me! Help me!" I cried.
My eyes widened when I noticed the young girl now sitting beside him, embracing him. She was looking straight at me with a sinister smile on her face. Her green eyes were mocking me.
"Jaden!" I cried out again.
"He can't hear you," she said and my heart sank. The flames had consumed a large portion of the bed and I was struggling not to get burnt.
"Rhea," The girl called my name and I looked up to see that the door had been slammed shut.
I awoke with a scream. The door of my room jerked open and there stood Jaden. He looked... concerned?
...
JADEN
She looked like she'd just had a hell of a nightmare. Her face was as white as sheets and strands of her dark hair stuck to her damp skin. She refused to meet my gaze again. As unbelievable as it sounded, I knew she was embarrassed. I mean, Rhea has always been shameless. Still, she is a box of surprises. You never know what you're going to get when it comes to dealing with matters that concerns Rhea.
"Why are you here?" She said, brushing her hair away from her face. She was looking at everything else, but me.
"You screamed. I was..."
She cut me off, a ferocious look in her eyes. If I didn't know better, I would've believed that she was planning to rip me apart.
"I told you, Mr Blackwood. I do not need your pity," she said through gritted teeth, and rose to her feet, a challenging look in her grey eyes. She didn't understand why I'd actually come downstairs to make sure she was alright, because if she did, she wouldn't be acting the way she was acting.
"Rhea..." I started to say, but she cut me off again. It was something I hated. I was getting riled up about the fact that Rhea had seemed to make cutting me off, her newest hobby.
"Not a word from you, Mr Blackwood. You should leave me alone. I am not a damsel in distress. I do not understand why you saw the need to come rushing into my room just because I probably screamed," She said, her eyes flashing with annoyance.
"Rhea..."
She cut me off again.
"Didn't I ask you to leave my room?" She said and that was it. I grabbed her by the wrists and pinned her to the wall with her hands above her head. Her eyes widened, her chest heaving as a result of how tensed she'd become.
"Stop it," I growled, barely reining in my wolf.
"Stop what?" She breathed, not taking her eyes off me.
"Stop interrupting me. It irks me, Rhea. I hate it," I said and she swallowed hard, but the fierceness in her eyes didn't leave.
"For the record, I didn't come in here because I merely heard you scream. You called my name," I told her and she stiffened, her eyes widening a little bit more. "Why would I call your name?" She asked. She sounded less confident.
"Tell me, why would I lie about something like that?" I asked and she continued to stare at me, unable to say anything.
"So, what if I called your name? It's not like you care about me. You clearly said you don't want me. Just leave me alone" she said. I slowly released my grip on her and stared at her for a moment. She walked away from me and went to stand by the window. Was I really going to pretend that she had no effect on me? But, for how long would I be able to keep up the facade.
"Why aren't you leaving yet? Do you perhaps want to spend the night here? We could do a lot of things tonight. I'm down for all kinds of activities," Rhea spoke, closing her eyes.
I left her room not because I was irritated or annoyed. At first, everything she did was annoying. But, at this point, I found her amusing. The woman clearly had no filter. She was so different from Sheila.
I found Klaus sitting on the couch in the sitting room having a chat with Trisha. They were both tensed. I didn't need to use my supernatural senses to know that. I lowered myself onto a settee, my hands resting on the armrest. They remained silent, the both of them avoiding my gaze.
"Do I have to force you to tell me what's going on?" I said and they both stiffened.
"It's nothing serious. Klaus and I just had a little misunderstanding," Trisha blurted and Klaus glared at her. He wasn't even trying to hide it.
"Alright, spit it out. Now" I ordered.
"Trisha knows exactly what the fuse is about. I think she should tell you what's going on with her," Klaus uttered.
I looked at Trisha, my patience already wearing thin. "Are you going to talk or what?" I said and she gave me a nervous smile.
"I-I haven't been in the right state of mind, lately...." She began and I stared at her, blankly. As soon as she parted her lips, my phone rang.
