Howl Of A Demon Wolf
JADEN
Rage was all I was feeling. I'd tracked Rhea down to the ornamental store and found the bag of supplies she'd told me she was going to get. Her sweet scent was mingled with the scent of three other werewolves. It clicked at once. Zaden had found a way to take my mate from me. But, not for long. I drove back home, placed Rhea's supplies on the couch. Then, I went back out. This time, I shifted. I walked down the alley in invisible mode, following Rhea's scent. I traced her scent all the way to what seemed like an abandoned warehouse. I barged in, and there was chaos. The werewolves there, were definitely from Zaden's pack. It made me tear them apart, mercilessly. I still couldn't find her. By the time I was done, there were bloody corpses all around me. I was past caring. All I wanted was my mate. I couldn't lose her, certainly not today.
I began to search the warehouse because I was so sure Rhea was in it. My steps faltered when I came across a body covered with a white cloth. I couldn't get her scent. I shifted into human form and hesitantly pulled down the clothe from her face. She didn't have a face. She had been skinned alive. She was beyond recognition. My stomach churned when I saw the purple streak among her black hair.
"No, no. It can't be her. It's not possible" I breathed, feeling a strong urge to throw up. I took a staggering step backwards. Then, another.
I doubled over and vomited. The body was definitely not Rhea's. They were trying to fool me. Still, it could have been her. I shifted back into wolf form and looked around me. There was no living soul around me. They were all dead. I didn't feel remorse. I was going to shed blood until I found her.
She was close by, I could feel it. I reached out for her, but didn't get any emotion. It seemed she was passed out cold. They had dared to touch my mate. My rage was soaring and I was seeing red. I shifted into my Lycan form, ready to do damage on anyone who would try to stop me. My howl of rage echoed through the night and I took off again, desperate to find her.
...
RHEA
I was cold when I gained consciousness. My head hurt really bad and my hands were tied. Whatever I was lying on was moving really fast, occasionally causing my body to jerk left or right. Pain speared through my skull when I tried to gather my thoughts. I reached up to touch my temple, bringing my hand to my line of sight. My fingers were stained with blood.
Through blurry vision, I looked up at the white light on the ceiling. The place jerked again and I realized with a jolt, that I was in the back of a moving vehicle. The memory of the last thing that had happened to me returned like a flash of lightning. I flinched, slowly turning around to see if I was alone.
But, there was a man sitting behind me, his eyes closed. He looked terrifying. His biceps were huge and he had an ugly scar on his face. He seemed to be asleep. I lowered my gaze and stared at the ropes tied around my wrists. I exhaled slowly, thankful for the first set of basic spells I'd learnt when I was younger. As soon as I muttered the spell, the rope around my wrist vanished. Carefully, I rose to my feet, nearly losing my balance when the vehicle lurched to the left. I had just made it to the rear door of the truck when a large hand gripped my neck, from behind.
"Where do you think you're going, bitch?" He drawled. I winced as the smell of ginger wafted into my nose when he spoke.
A powerful howl tore through the air and I froze, my heart beat accelerating. I knew that howl. Jaden.
He'd come for me. Bearing this in mind, I mentally cast a spell. The large man holding my neck suddenly fell to the floor with a loud thud. "What was that?" I heard one of the men in the front say.
"Go check on the bitch" said another man. The truck came to a halt and I sat down on the floor, waiting for the right time to take off.
I heard someone unbolt the door and open it. Immediately he peered inside, I rose to my feet. Giving him a kick on the face, I somersaulted out of the truck, landing on my two feet behind the startled man who was clutching at his broken nose. I started to run. I could hear the sounds of their feet as they chased after me like blood thirsty hounds. I ran on, not stopping to catch my breath.
There was no way I was going to let them take me away. I heard a low growl from the opposite alley which was completely dark. The moonlight wasn't penetrating through the area. But, I could recognize the glowing pair of crimson eyes anywhere. I paused, relief washing over me. He was finally here.
He stepped out of the shadows and my eyes widened when I saw that he was in a much larger form, like a lycan. I stared at him, my jaw nearly dropping to the ground. It was him, alright. I could feel him. I could smell him. I could smell the blood on him, most probably from the werewolves he'd destroyed in that state.
"Jaden, it's me" I breathed.
'I know' came his reply, through our mindlink.
He reached out a large clawed hand, carefully brushing my hair away from my face.
'You're hurt' he growled.
Just then, the three men who'd kidnapped me, came running towards us. They skid to a stop when they saw Jaden in his monstrous form. The one with the broken nose gulped and took a step backwards. Then, they all took off in the opposite direction. In a flash, Jaden had gone after them. I heard their screams but didn't feel sorry for them.
"What is a beautiful lady doing here, all alone?" A masculine voice said from behind me. I turned to look at the man standing behind me. His face was pale and white fangs were poking out from beneath his upper lip. His golden brown hair was gelled neatly, away from his face and glinting red eyes watched me keenly. He was a vampire, it was as obvious as it could get. I growled at him and he chuckled.
"Oh, a werewolf. You're too pretty to be one" he said as he started to approach me. I could easily take him down. I had the skills. But, a certain someone didn't like the fact that a vampire was approaching his mate.
In a blink of an eye, Jaden was standing right behind the vampire who sniffed loudly.
"What was that? I smell blood" he said and Jaden growled. Any man would shit his pants if he heard that kind of growl.
The vampire turned to face Jaden who was towering above him in his lycan form.
He grabbed him by the neck before he could run. Then, he twisted his neck, subsequently breaking it. The vampire went limp and Jaden threw him against the wall with such force that resulted to the vampire's face caving in, in a gruesome way.
"Come on, let's go. You found me" I said to Jaden. We walked home, no words spoken. I knew he had a lot to say, but he wanted to say them to me when he wasn't in that state.
We got home and Jaden shifted back into human form. He was literally covered in blood. Blood that wasn't his. He quietly went upstairs to take a shower while I cleaned up the blood stains his feet left behind.
Minutes later, I went upstairs, to his bedroom. I sat down on the bed and stared at the moon, waiting for Jaden to finally step out. When he did, there was a white towel wrapped around his waist and his long hair was damp. I rose to my feet, took his hand in mine, and made him sit down. He stared at me, quietly. So, I let out a sigh.
"Jaden..."
I was surprised when he suddenly leaned forward and embraced me. I slowly wrapped my arms around him and rubbed the bare skin of his back.
"I'm right here, Jaden. I'm here" I assured him.
"I thought... I thought I..."
"We're okay, Jaden. Look at me" I said, pulling away from him enough for our gazes to meet. His eyes were glassy and there was so much emotion in them. He reached out for some wipes which was lying on the nightstand. Then, he started to wipe away the blood on my temple. My head wasn't hurting any longer. I figured that the wound had healed.
"I lost control, Rhea. I got so angry.... I..."
I embraced him again, closing my eyes. If things had gone wrong earlier tonight, I wouldn't be in Jaden's arms. I would probably be in a holding cell tortured and starved. I was glad that my Alpha had come for me.
"It's okay. I know you did it for me" I whispered.
"I don't want to lose you, Rhea. You have to be careful" he told me and I nodded.
"I know."
This meant a lot to me. It made me realize how important I was to him. I didn't want to label it yet, but I knew we were crazy for each other. I was grateful for his presence in my life. I pressed a kiss to his collar bone and he pressed a kiss to my forehead. Then, we stayed like that, basking in the warmth of each other.
