Silver Claw Pack

JADEN
She was lost in thoughts and was no longer listening to me. If I were her, I would do the same. There was no way I wouldn't have seen what she'd seen. She could have been hallucinating. Still, it didn't make a lot of sense. Her wolf had been triggered as well.
There had to be some sort of explanation for what had just happened.
Rhea stared at her claws, a confused look on her face. Her eyes were no longer grey. One of them was forest green and the other was a very light blue. Her eyes were beautiful.
"I've always wanted to have a wolf. But, now.... I'm so confused. I have no idea what I'm doing, Jaden. What's happening to me? I don't understand..." She said and I placed a hand on her shoulder to get her to calm down. She was already panicking so much already.
"Take a deep breath," I said and she closed her eyes, inhaling deeply.
"Now, relax."
She opened her eyes and exhaled slowly. Her eyes had returned to their usual color. She stared at the ground, her shoulders slumped.
"What am I going to do?" She asked. Rhea was clearly distressed. I felt sorry for her. She looked so lost.
"It happened only once. Don't jump into conclusions yet" I told her. Her gaze met mine.
"What if it happens again? What do I do then? Am I going mad?"
"Come on, Rhea. You're not going mad. We're going to figure this out, okay?" I said.
She sighed and we began to walk home. No words were spoken and as we walked, her hand kept making contact with mine.
When we got to my house, she retreated to her room while I made my way to my room. Rhea probably hadn't realized it, but she'd seemed very vulnerable back at the alley. When she wasn't acting crazy, she was vulnerable. It made me want to protect her.
I sat down on the couch and closed my eyes. I'd made her believe that I didn't want her. At this point, I realized that I didn't mean it. There was something about her that captured me. No, scratch that. Everything about her drew me in.
My phone rang. Matthias, an old friend of mine who was the Alpha of the blood moon pack was the one calling. I picked the call and brought the phone to my ear.
"How have you been, Jaden? It's been quite a while since I heard from you" he said.
"I'm doing well"
"I heard that you've established a pack. Good for you, dude. Does Zaden know you're alive?" He said.
"Yes, he does"
He snorted.
"I bet he was shocked speechless. Anyway, the meeting with the Alpha King is going to be held tomorrow. You have to show up or Zaden might use it against you" Matthias said.
"Alright" I replied.
"You are not curious about why the Alpha King set up another meeting? You know it's supposed to be once every year" he said and I frowned.
I hadn't thought of that.
"He's gravely ill. No one knows how or why. Since he doesn't have a heir, it seems he's planning on appointing a new king" Matthias said.
"How is he going to do that?" I asked, curious.
"We don't know yet. But, I think Zaden might be interested in becoming king of Alphas. You know what will happen if he succeeds" Mathias said and I clenched my fist.
"We have to be careful, Jaden. Zaden is already making his move. He has wiped out three Alphas already and has taken over their packs"
...
RHEA
I awoke with a pounding headache. It was raining buckets outside. I'd had a bad dream in which I'd seen the girl with the green eyes. In my dream, she tied me up to a tree and burnt me alive.
There was a knock on the door. I rose to my feet and ran a palm over my face. Then, I walked towards the door and opened it. Darryl stood there. He gave me a smile. "Morning, Rhea" he greeted.
"Morning," I breathed.
"You should get ready. Jaden doesn't like to be kept waiting" he said.
"What do you mean? Are we going somewhere?" I asked, confused.
"The pack house, to be precised. So, don't keep him waiting. By the way, don't forget to pack a bag," he said and walked away. I slowly shut the door, trying to wrap my head around what was happening.
I freshened up as quickly as I could. An hour later, Jaden knocked on the door to my room. I opened it, surprised to see him in a black suit and a yellow long sleeved shirt. His hair was pulled back in a bun.
"Darryl said we're going to the pack house" I said and he folded his arms across his chest and leaned against the wall.
"Are you up for this? We don't have to go if you don't want to," he said and my eyes widened. Since when did he become considerate?
"And?" He said, raising a dark brow. "I want to. Besides, I might be shifting soon. Since, I don't have a pack yet, I..."
"Rhea," he cut me off, his gaze softer.
"Stop ranting. I get it," he said. "Come with me," he said, holding out a hand to me. I swallowed hard and placed my hand in his.
We went outside and my eyes widened when I saw the men in suits waiting outside. The rain had ceased and the sun was out.
"What's going on?" I asked and he cocked a brow.
"Are you feeling intimidated? Don't be. Darryl will be taking you to the pack house. I have to attend a meeting with the Alpha King" he said.
"Just you?" I asked.
"Klaus will be coming with me. All Alphas are supposed to show up with their Betas."
"Oh, I get it now," I said and he nodded.
"I might return a bit late since I have to do something at the office" he said and my eyes widened.
Did he just say 'office'?
"What? Surprised?" He said with a teasing tone.
"You work in a company? What about the pack? How do you manage that?" I said and he shrugged.
"It's one of the perks of being efficient. Multitasking is something I excel at," he told me and I nodded in understanding. I was impressed.
I got into the car with Darryl who grinned at me.
"You'll be fine, right?" Jaden asked and I nodded with a smile.
"I'll be fine," I told him.
He got into the backseat of his car and Darryl drove off the same time Jaden's driver began to drive. I glared at Darryl who had a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"You told me I was going with Jaden," I pointed out and he laughed.
"Were you excited when I said that?" He drawled and I glared at him. I blew out a breath and looked out the window, wondering if the pack members would accept me. I wasn't a pure blooded werewolf, would they be okay with it?
"I'm nervous" I breathed.
"You don't have to be nervous, Rhea"
"What if they don't like me? I'm a hybrid, Darryl"
He chuckled.
"Rhea, our alpha is a hybrid as well. So, why won't they accept you?"
"He is? What is he exactly?" I asked, my curiosity spiking up.
"He's a demon wolf hybrid" he responded and my eyes widened.
"Wow. He's a rare kind"
"He sure is. Trust me, you don't want to see him in full Alpha mode. He's scary when he does it. He rarely gets angry. But, when he does, it's never a good sight" Darryl said and I swallowed hard. It was clear that Jaden was very powerful. He could rip me apart if he wanted.
"Don't worry, he would never do that to you."
"Why not? It's not like he wants me" I muttered.
Darryl smiled.
"You're so clueless. Don't worry, you'll find out the truth soon" he said and I stared at my hands. I wondered what he meant.
...
When we drove past the place I assumed to be the pack house, I turned to look at Darryl with a questioning look on my face.
"Why are you driving past the pack house?" I demanded and he shrugged.
"That isn't our main pack house" he said and I raised a brow. We were heading out of the city, which was kind of understandable. I knew werewolves were drawn to the woods and the mountains because they could easily shift there.
Darryl finally parked in front of a large iron gate. We walked out of the car and Darryl got my bag out of the boot. He knocked on the gate thrice. Then, it creaked open. I let out a gasp as I took in the sight of the three hulking buildings in front of me. I'd seen so many pack houses because I'd stolen from different packs, but this? It was magnificent.
"This...is your pack house?" I breathed. I could perceive various scents of other werewolves. I noticed the scouts in their station by the gate. Two of the scouts waved at Darryl who waved back.
"Welcome to the Silver Claw Pack," he said to me, a knowing smile on his face.
"How many are you? There has to be more than fifty werewolves here," I said and Darryl shrugged.
"We are quite populated. Jaden has been doing a great job as the alpha. He has kept everyone of us in check because like he said, he's very efficient," he stated.
"Well, I can see that now" I breathed as he led me towards what seemed to be the main building.
I caught sight of Trisha and a couple of warriors. She glared at me and I gave her a taunting smile. Darryl opened the door of the first building and I was greeted with the sight of two beautiful women. They were sitting on a dark blue couch, having a conversation. The first one rose to her feet once we came in. She had bright red hair and light brown eyes. She looked Asian and was dressed in a pair of light blue jeans trousers and a white sleeveless shirt. She smiled at me and embraced me when I got to her.
"Goodness! You look gorgeous!" She breathed. I was surprised by her American accent.
"My name is Haru. What's yours?" She said with a warm smile on her face.
"Rhea," I replied and the other woman rose to her feet. She also had a smile on her face. She was taller than Haru and had short blonde hair that was shaved on the sides. She was wearing a pair of black leather pants and a black T-shirt. She had a couple of ear piercings and a nose piercing. She had blue eyes that was warm and inviting. "It's great to finally meet you. I'm Dana. I'm a werepanther," she said and my eyes widened.
"Don't be surprised, I'm a kitsune," Haru told me and a smile curved my lips. It looked like the pack wasn't so bad after all.
