Bloodline

RHEA
The door opened and several witches walked in. Morgana was the last person to come in. She was wearing an ankle length red robe. As the leader of the raven witch clan, my mother used to wear a red robe that looked just like the one Morgana was wearing. Seeing Morgana in the red robe, upset me. The rest of the witches who were Morgana's followers, began to hum. The melody had an eerie feeling to it. It made me feel even more uncomfortable and desperate to escape. The witches raised their voices in harmony, as their leader began to draw a pentagram on the floor, using the blood of an animal.

'Rhea,' a familiar voice whispered in my ear. I went still, my heart racing in my chest. I'd just heard a voice I thought I wouldn't hear ever again.
'Rhea.'
I squeezed my eyes shut when I heard her call my name again. "Mum?" I breathed, my voice small, like a child's.
'It's me, baby girl. Open your eyes' she said.
I slowly opened my eyes. And there she was. She was glowing like she had been illuminated from the inside. Her green eyes held the familiar warmth that I'd grown accustomed to, as a child. Her long black hair looked so shiny and healthy. Her white dress glowed as well.

Morgana and her followers couldn't see her. I knew because they were still humming, and Morgana was still busy with the pentagram she was drawing.
'Don't be afraid, Rhea. Don't let my sister take your magic. It belongs to you. Own it. Don't let your fear get the best of you. You are stronger, believe it' she said.
"But, I've been trying so hard, mum" I said and she began to stroke my hair with such fondness, it made my heart ache.
"Jaden can't find you because of the spells and wards that has been configured around this building. You have to save yourself, Rhea" she said and vanished into thin air.

By the time I was brought back to reality, Morgana had finished with the pentagram. She was holding in her hand, a glinting dagger with an emerald handle. She approached me with eyes darkened with determination. I started to struggle with the chains around my wrists and ankles.
She sneered.

"It's no use struggling against these chains, Rhea. It's just a waste of time, you know that" she drawled. Just as she raised the dagger to stab me, the door was pushed down with a loud bang. I coughed as dust spread in the air as a result of the impact of the heavy door falling to the ground.

When the dust finally cleared, someone stepped in. I didn't need to see the person's face to know that it was Thalia. Her red stilettos were already an indicator. She was wearing a red dress and a cream colored trench coat. On her wavy hair was a red beret and a smoking cigarette was positioned between her fingers in a casual way.

Morgana didn't look happy to see her. I wasn't elated to see her, either. I knew Thalia's presence would only make everything worse for me. She wanted my magic, just as much as Morgana did.

"What are you doing here?" Morgana demanded and Thalia took a drag of her cigarettes, a poker faced expression on her face. I hated looking at her. Anytime I looked at her, I had a strong urge to spit on her face.

"Why would I miss such a big party? I mean, look at the guest. It's the famous bitch who became south queen, earlier tonight. To answer your question, dear aunt, I'm just here to take what's mine. And, look, you've made it so easy for me. Thank you so much, Aunt"

I gritted my teeth, my fists clenched.
"You shouldn't be here. You were not invited" Morgana hissed, her eyes flashing with impatience.
Her followers made to attack Thalia. But in a twinkle of an eye, they had all been turned to cockroaches that ran helter skelter, seeking for cover.

"You leave me with no choice, then" Morgana spat. The two were engaged in a combat as soon as she said this. While they were distracted, I concentrated on getting the chains of me. It strained me mentally as well. But, I pushed on, beyond my limits. When the chains fell apart, I didn't bother to bask in the feeling of success. I crawled towards the dagger on the floor. As soon as I took hold of it, I made a cut across my palm.

"She's getting away" Thalia growled and sent a blast of magic towards me. I immediately placed a shield around me, sending her offensive magic, hurtling towards her. I didn't wait to see if it hit her. I quickly muttered a spell that took me where I wanted to be.
Home.
Jaden wasn't in his quarters. I figured he was out, still searching for me. I took a shower and slipped on one of Jaden's t-shirt. His scent soothed me and as I closed my eyes, I tried not to think of what had happened to me, earlier. I opened my eyes and stared at my palm; the cut I'd made on it was long gone. I felt relieved about the fact that I'd managed to escape, and I hoped that this would be the last time I would get kidnapped. I was going to make sure it didn't happy again. I mentally reached out for my mate, letting out a sigh of content when I felt his essence brush up against mine.
'Jaden, come home' I said, tiredly. My eyes fluttered close and I ended up falling asleep.
I was awoken later that night by the feeling of Jaden holding me in his embrace. I could hear the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. I was half asleep, but I knew that he was troubled. I pressed a lingering kiss to his chest.
"I'm okay, Jaden. I'm here with you" I breathed.
He let out a sound which was a mixture of a grunt and a groan. "I have no idea what to do with you. You keep getting yourself into trouble" he said, pained.
"I'm sorry" I rasped, stroking the bare skin of his back, to soothe him.
"I just can't help the fact that I'm trouble itself" I said and he snorted.
"From this point onwards, I'm going to make sure you don't go out of my sight. I nearly had a heart attack today because I couldn't find you" he mumbled and I smiled. I knew he meant it.
...
THALIA
Morgana was a mess. I'd made her that way. She could have given up the fight and surrendered. But, she didn't. Her pride was bigger. I guess it runs in the family. Rhea had gotten away and now, I was pissed. Morgana had been stupid enough to underestimate Rhea.
Annoyed, I patted my coat to get rid of the dust that had settled on it during my fight with Morgana. Our fight had been nasty. It left her disoriented. She was kneeling on the floor, staring at the floor with drool dribbling down her chin. I walked towards her with confident steps. I grabbed her by the hair, the black strands curling around my fingers. I tilted her hair backwards, forcing her to make eye contact with me. She let out a weak groan. Then, she blinked until her eyes watered.
"You will never get it. If I can't get my hands on what I want, what makes you think that you will succeed?" she whispered.
I found her statement amusing. The bitch clearly didn't know a lot about me. As long as I want something, I won't give up until I get it, no matter what happens.
"Go ahead, kill me. Get on with it" she slurred, her eyes fluttering close.
I leaned close enough to whisper into her ear.
"Dear, Aunt. I don't take orders from anyone, especially not you. No exceptions are made. That's why I'm going to kill you the way you killed my mother" I whispered and she paled.
"You c-can't d-do that" she stuttered. She was trembling with fear and yes, it made me feel really good.
"You don't have the right to. You're just as greedy as I am. You're going to do to your sister, what I did to your mother. Killing me doesn't make you a hero" she hissed.
I laughed darkly, yanking her hair backwards.
"Villainy suits me better and that's what I'll always go with" I drawled. Placing a hand on her forehead, I drew in a long breath, basking in the feel of her magic and every other magic she'd stolen, as a result of her greed.

I absorbed her magic, relishing in the feel of it. Morgana screamed until her voice was hoarse. By the time I was done, she fell to the ground with a dull thud. She curled up into a ball, whimpering as a result of her emptiness. How pathetic.

"I hope you rot in hell where you belong" I hissed and walked away when she started to make annoying choking sounds. I was ready for Rhea now. She was powerful but she was also mated to an Alpha. I was curious to find out about what would happen to her when I eventually severed her bond with the Alpha king. I knew it would be even more fun to watch him tear her apart. That way, I wouldn't have to get my hands dirty. I was really looking forward to the drastic ending of their lives. Maybe the enmity was in our bloodline. It was probably soul deep as well, but I wasn't going to stop pushing until I eventually become the most powerful hybrid in the history of werewolves. I couldn't wait to trample on every other person who would try to get in my way. Most especially, I couldn't wait to be queen.
