RHEA
Was Thalia bidding her time? This was what I kept asking myself because she still hadn't struck even two weeks after I'd narrowly escaped tragedy. I got my answer on the third day of the third week. Jaden became so busy with pack business and he barely had time for me any longer. Maybe, I was overreacting. After all, I had a knack for exaggeration.
I was sitting with Darryl and Chase on a couch. We were having a random conversation. Initially, it had been just me and Darryl. Chase joined us, later. We were both teasing Darryl because of how whipped he was. He was genuinely fond of Rain, his soulmate. A frown creased Chase's forehead as he rose to his feet, all of a sudden. He sniffed, a frown still etched onto his face.
"Chase, what's wrong?" I asked as he started to move towards the door. Using his eyes, he urged me to keep silent. Darryl and I rose to our feet, tensed. If there was an intruder there, we had to be careful.

As soon as Chase took hold of the door knob and jerked the door open, a knife came hurtling out of nowhere. It was too fast and we were too startled by it. The sharp end of the knife impaled Darryl on the stomach. He yanked the knife out, a bewildered expression on his face. The end of the knife was now coated with bright red liquid.

"Darryl," I breathed, still shocked.
He parted his lips in a bid to say something. But, he let out a pained groan instead, his knees giving out. I reached out for him and we both sank to the ground. The stain on his white sheet was spreading in a rapid manner and blood was quickly spreading on the floor around him. I'd never seen anyone loose blood like that. Seeing Darryl in such a state scared me.
I brought my trembling, blood stained hands to his injury and tried to cast a spell. Darryl's face had become as white as sheets and his breathing was strained. He grabbed my hand and tried to tell me something but he couldn't. it was at this point that I realized what was really happening. My second vision had warned me about this.
I held my breath, knowing that if I turned around, I would find Chase at knife point. I clenched my trembling hands into white knuckled fists. Darryl's bleeding was not ordinary. In fact, the bitch who was holding Chase at knife point, had spelled the knife she'd thrown at Darryl. I closed my eyes as I placed my hands over his wound. I casted the spell out loud, knowing that she was listening. My palms tingled and I opened my eyes to see that they were emitting a white glow. Darryl's wound stopped bleeding and his supernatural self-healing kicked in.
I rose to my feet, still not turning around.
"I was wondering when you would eventually show up" I drawled when I eventually turned to face her. She looked rough. "Ooo, you look worse for wear. What did you do? Contact AIDS?" I mocked her, a taunting smirk on my face. Her face twisted into a menacing scowl.
"You shouldn't be so careless with your words. I could stab him in the neck, you know. You're acting so tough even when you're plagued with doubts and insecurities. Let's face it. It's all a façade" she spat the words like they were bilious.
"Oh my, I feel sorry for you. You should see a therapist. They can help" I stated.
Her eyes darkened, dark brows pulled together.
"What?"
"I mean, you just gave me a description of yourself" I said and she growled at me.
The door jerked open and Jaden stormed in, his eyes darkened with rage. His gaze fell on me. The next thing that happened was unexpected. Just as Jaden started to approach us, Thalia pushed Chase to the corner of the room. With a speed I didn't know she possessed, she ran towards Jaden and using her claws, she drew blood from his forearm. She vanished out of sight, right after that. Chase had risen to his feet. He looked just as bewildered as the rest of us.
"What was that about?" Jaden said with a frown on his face. I rushed to his side and took hold of his hand to inspect it. The injury had healed, leaving behind, no evidence that it had once been on his skin.
"Darryl?" Chase said and we both turned to look at Darryl who had just gained consciousness. I moved to his side and knelt beside him.
"Can you sit up?" I asked and he nodded. He slowly pulled himself to a sitting position with a wince.
He looked around, his brows creased.
"She's...gone?" he breathed, a confused look in his eyes.
"How long was I out?" he asked, lifting the hem of his shirt to inspect the wound which had healed.
"Not long" I said and he sighed, his gaze resting on Jaden who looked rather pensive.
"Did anything happen while I was..."
Chase cut him off.
"No."
"So, she just left like that?" he said, his frown deepened. When we didn't say anything else, he mumbled under his breath, "I find that hard to believe."
Jaden walked out of the room and Chase sighed.
"You should go to him. He's bothered about something" he said and Darryl nodded in agreement.
I rose to my feet and went to Jaden's office. He was standing by the window when I walked in.
"Jaden?" I said, but he didn't respond or turn to look at me. I came closer to him and placed a hand on his shoulder. He turned around with a start.
"It's me" I whispered and his gaze softened.
"What's on your mind?" I asked and he looked away.
"A lot" he responded.
"Talk to me" I breathed.
He rubbed his temples, a wary look in his eyes.
"I don't know.... I just think I haven't been spending time with you, lately. You should understand that it's not something that can be helped"
I grinned, taking hold of his hands. His gaze locked with mine and my grin widened.
"For someone with the bad boy vibes, you're such a romantic" I teased and his cheeks flushed for a few seconds. If I wasn't gazing so intently at him, I would have missed it.
"Jaden, you just blushed. You know that, right?" I teased.
"No, I did not" he countered immediately.
I laughed, amused by the offended look on his face.
"You are so adorable, Alpha Jaden" I teased and he scoffed. He didn't argue. But, he did counter my statement in a different way. He kissed me, his hands setting my skin on fire. He buried his face in the crook of my neck and chuckled darkly. Goosebumps appeared on my skin and I shivered in delight as his hands worked its magic on my body. "I can smell your arousal already" he whispered, his voice guttural. I was weak in the knees at this point.
"I...I...I take it back" I said, my breathing ragged.
"You're not adorable.... you're damn sexy" I breathed, fireworks exploding in my mind's eyes.
....
ZADEN
Thalia looked pale and winded when she appeared out of nowhere, inside my office. She looked around my office and cursed under her breath when her gaze rested on me. I remained silent as I gave her scrutinizing gaze. For one, she wasn't wearing any of her designer coats and dresses. She was wearing a pair of black sweatpants and a black t-shirt with the inscription, 'FUCK OFF.'
She hadn't even bothered to style her hair. It was in a messy ponytail. Sweat rolled down her temples in rivulets.
In fact, she looked like was going to keel over in my office. No matter how ambitious she was, she was still my mate. So, I was worried about her.
"Quit staring at me like that. It's annoying" she said with a grumpy voice. Still, she didn't sound as menacing as she usually sounded and it made me even more worried.
"What's going on with you? You don't look okay" I said and she scowled at me. She picked up some wipes and cleaned the blood on her claws.
"Who did you fight with?" I probed and she leaned back on her seat.
"I didn't fight. I stole" she said, her gaze locked with mine.
"So, you're just like your sister, I guess stealing does run in the family"
Her expression darkened, her gaze hostile.
"I am nothing like Rhea" she hissed. She was wrong. She was so alike to Rhea in a way. But, I wasn't about to start arguing with her, especially over such a trifling issue.
"What did you steal, then?" I asked and she exhaled slowly.
"Jaden's blood" she said, a dark smile tugging at her lips. My eyes widened when her words sank in.
"How?" I asked, puzzled.
"How else would I do it, apart from physically hurting him?" she said, removing the black hair band from her hair, allowing her hair to spill down her shoulders.
"I needed his blood for the final step of the ritual" she added.
"And if doesn't work?"
She cocked a brow.
"What do you know about sorcery? I'll answer that for you" she said and leaned closer to me, her elbow resting on my desk, her chin propped on the heel of the palm of her hand. "Absolutely nothing" she said.
I watched her rise to her feet. She picked up the stained wipes she'd placed on my desk. Then, she started to head towards the door. She halted at the door and coughed into her closed fist. Her cough sounded so painful, I winced. Something was definitely going on with her. Was she sick? Werewolves weren't susceptible to flus and whatnot. Nevertheless, I was worried.
"When all this is over, you'll thank me for it" she said, her back to me. She left my office and shut the door behind her. My eyes widened when I saw the blood stains by the door, where she'd been standing few seconds ago. They were fresh.
