The Tempest

RHEA
The sun was starting to sink below the horizon but Klaus and Darryl were yet to return. Jaden had fallen asleep and his stubborn fever had started to spike again.
"Rhea..." Jaden croaked, his eyes still closed. I swallowed hard, trying to keep calm. The fact remained that whatever Thalia had done was very effective. Not even the fact that he was a demon wolf, could help him.
"Rhea?" My mate croaked again. This time, his eyelids fluttered open.
"I'm here" I whispered and his tired gaze rested on my baby bump. I took his hand and placed it on my stomach. He let out a shaky breath.
"I don't want to hurt you and our children" he rasped and I shook my head.
"You won't hurt us"
"I have a bad feeling about this, Rhea. I've never felt this wrecked and I can't fight it" he whispered and I bit my lower lip, tensed.
"You're going to be alright. I'll fix you" I said.
He shook his head, his movements slow.
"Do you remember what you saw? Your third vision?" He asked, his chest heaving.
I clenched my fists, feeling like I was going to combust. If it was true that my vision was about to come true, I was prepared to do everything to fight get us. I wasn't going to give Thalia the satisfaction of taking us down.
"That's not going to happen" I said, a lump lodged in my throat.
"I.. don't feel right. I can't feel Tarus either and I.. I" he started to fumble with his words. My stomach turned to lead when he said this.
"I.. I.. can't think..." He stuttered and tears filled my eyes.
"Don't... don't..."
"Jaden" I choked out.
He squeezed his eyes shut and a tear rolled down the corner of his left eye. I wiped the tears from the side of his face, biting my lower lip to keep the tears at bay.
"Don't... fight... me. Don't hurt...you" he gasped.
I parted my lips to say something, but before I could say anything, he'd vanished from my sight. I was shocked to silence. I couldn't process what had just happened. I looked around the room, thinking that my mind was playing tricks on me. But, I couldn't see him. He was gone. I got out of bed slowly processing what had just happened. It was at this point that I realized that Thalia had summoned my mate.
"No...no..." I breathed, clutching my head as frustration welled up inside me. There was a knock on the door. Absentmindedly, I responded with a, "Come in."
Darryl and Klaus strode in with a bag. They froze when they saw that I was all alone.
Klaus spoke first.
"Where is he? Where did he go?" He asked and I turned away from him, my hands trembling.
"She summoned him. I couldn't do anything" I rasped, my fists clenched.
"I don't understand. He vanished from sight? How does that work?" Darryl asked.
"She used magic. She had trapped his mind already. I should have known. I should've done something. I should've--"
"Rhea" Klaus cut me off as he placed a hand on my shoulder.
"Look at me. This is not your fault. None of us saw it coming. It just happened. Now that we know what's happening, we have to do something about it. You can't blame yourself for this. Jaden wouldn't want that" he said and my gaze met his.
"She's holding him captive, Rhea. What are you going to do about it? Won't you fight back?" He said, his brows creased.
He was right. I needed to do something. I needed to fight back.
I growled as fury started to boil within me. The bitch dared to cast a spell on my Jaden. Another growl escaped my lips as my claws began to emerge. I was going to make sure she regretted messing with my mate and I.
But first, I needed to find my Alpha.
...
ZADEN
Thalia had drawn a pentagram on the floor and she'd lit several candles as well. We were at the building where she'd done the first ritual. When she'd told me that the ritual had worked, I'd been a little sceptical. She'd made me go with her and watch her summon Jaden. She'd been chanting spells for the past thirty minutes, but nothing was happening. I was starting to get impatient.
All of a sudden, the place became hotter. The candles burned brighter and right there in the centre of the large pentagram lay Jaden. I blinked and rubbed my eyes, shocked by what had just happened.
Thalia gave me a triumphant smile. Then, she took a blade and made a long cut on her palm. She muttered another spell and Jaden let out a muffled cry of pain. He struggled to all fours, his hair covering his face. He finally looked up, his hostile gaze resting on Thalia. His eyes were bloodshot; he was pallid as well. He growled at her and she tsked, her eyes glinting with mischief.
"You're completely under my control, Jaden. You should know that. Kneel!" She said and he stared at her, unmoving.
"I said, kneel!" She thundered. He still didn't move or make a sound. Arrogant bastard. Even in that state, he wasn't willing to kneel.
"I'll have to bring you to your knees then" she said and muttered another spell.
Blood flowed out of Jaden's nostrils as he lost his balance and fell to the ground. He was writhing in pain. It was satisfying to watch.
"What do you want?" He wheezed.
"What do I want? I want you to suffer. I want to destroy you and that bitch of yours who thinks she is more powerful than me" Thalia said.
He growled again and Thalia smirked.
"You're so clueless. You cannot attack me. I lessened my grip on your mind, it's why you can understand me. Do you want me to render you useless again?" She said and threw a knife at him. It caught him on the chest, right beneath his collarbone. He began to bleed excessively.
He curled into a fetal position, coughing up blood on the floor. I watched him as he wrapped his shaky fingers around the handle of the knife and tried to yank it out. He clearly didn't have the strength to. So, he gave up on trying to yank the knife out, and continued to bleed.
"I think we should kill him. He's already vulnerable. Killing him shouldn't be a big deal" I said and Thalia turned to look at me.
"We will kill him eventually. For now, I want him to feel the pain of loosing his mate, again. This time, he's going to beg to die when he realizes that he killed his mate. I want to break him" Thalia said and I smirked.
That sounded way better than my initial plans.
"Knock him out. We have to tie him up and lock him in a cage" I said and she nodded.
Few minutes later, we had locked him up in a cage. There was a pentagram in the room which would prevent him from escaping.
"Do you believe me now?" Thalia said to me and I nodded. I acknowledged the fact that she was powerful. An ordinary witch would never be able to pull off what Thalia had done.
"I believe you now. At first, I was sceptical. But now, I've seen what you can do. Remind me to not get on your bad side" I said and she smirked.
"Trust me, getting on my bad side is something you'd want to avoid doing"
"So, what are we going to do with him now?" I asked and she shrugged.
"Entertain ourselves" she said, her eyes gleaming.
"How is Rhea going to locate this place? It's quite hidden"
I told her.
"Rhea is a witch. She would know what to do"
She sounded both irritated and impatient.
"So, she can track him using her magic? Who's to say that she can't break the spell and reverse the ritual?" I said and Thalia scoffed, her eyes flashing with annoyance.
"Trust me on this, won't you?" She snapped.
"Fine. Whatever you say" I droned.
She gave me a scrutinizing stare.
"I think you don't really know how villainy works. I'm starting to think that you're softer than you seem" she said and I glared at her, offended.
"Watch it, Thalia"
She rolled her eyes and turned to look at Jaden who was still lying in the cage, unconscious.
Thalia roused him again and commanded him to shift. It happened spontaneously. In this form, he was very aggressive. He kept snapping his jaws at us, even though the cage kept him entrapped.
"Be quiet!" Thalia ordered. He started to growl, his red eyes gleaming brightly. His voice invaded my mind, startling me. I tried to block him out, but he wouldn't budge until he'd delivered his message. His words kept ringing in my head even after Thalia and I had left the room.
'Mark my words, brother. I am going to kill you. In less than two days, you will be dead'
