The Tournament: Chaos Arising

JADEN
"Welcome to the third round of the tournament. In this round, the overall winner will be declared, and that winner will be the next South Alpha King" the Alpha King said.
Rhea gave my hand a gentle squeeze and rested her head on my shoulder. I smiled to myself, entwining our fingers together. I knew she was anxious. I could feel it through the mate bond.
"Here are the contestants who made it to the final round: Alpha Jaden, Alpha Kyle, Alpha Louis, Alpha Thomas and Alpha Zaden. Congratulations to the five of you who will compete in this round" the king continued.
He suddenly doubled over and hacked into his closed fists, his body trembling feebly. The royal Beta quickly took over and the royal attendants led the king to his seat.
"A king must be courageous. A king must be compassionate. A king must be dominant. A king must have good instincts and strong will power. This final round is quite simple. The five Alphas will have to shift into their wolf forms. Notice the green lines on the ground, surrounding the arena. Any wolf that moves out of the line is disqualified"
The crowd cheered in excitement.
"The Last Wolf Standing, wins the tournament. The first two wolves will be sent into the arena. After thirty seconds, the next wolf will join the others. No cheating is allowed. The slightest slip up and you're done."
I stared at the large green circle in the center of the arena. My vision suddenly went blurry and I swayed. Rhea clutched my upper arm, gazing at me with concern.
"Are you alright?" She asked and I shook my head to ward off the dizziness.
"I feel dizzy" I breathed and her frown deepened.
"It can't be magic. I don't sense anything" she breathed.
"I'm fine" I rasped and my head spun again. I cursed under my breath and Rhea's pained gaze rested on me as she cupped my face. I was seeing things in twos. It was definitely not funny. Tarus huffed in annoyance.
'You knew what you were going into, yet you did it anyway' he said.
He took over and the dizziness vanished.
"Your eyes are red. Has the dizziness ceased?" Rhea whispered, brushing a stray strand of hair out of my eyes.
"I'm okay now" I assured her. She gave me a small smile as I left her and went into the holding cell to shift.
"Alpha Kyle, please step into the arena" the royal Beta said and Kyle's wolf made his way to the arena.
"Alpha Jaden, please join him."
The crowd cheered as I approached Kyle's wolf. We were within the arena, staring at each other. The whistle went off and I remained still, my hackles raised. Tarus seemed to be in a bad mood today. We growled and Kyle snarled at us, baring his white fangs. I found it annoying. We both lunged at the same time, claws and fangs ready to do some real damage.
Momentarily, we both dodged each other's attack. Then, we began to pace again. My ears were alert, picking the slightest of sounds. Five seconds later, I'd shoved Kyle's wolf out of the circle. He slid across the sand, a ferocious growl leaving his mouth.
"Alpha Kyle has been eliminated" said a feminine voice.
"Alpha Louis, please step into the arena"
Louis' wolf was a dark brown with lighter brown eyes. He didn't hesitate, he lunged forward, throwing himself at me, but I stood my ground, claws digging into the sand. I kept my weight balanced on all four legs, knowing that I could slip if I wasn't balanced. Louis was determined to win this round. He pounced on me, his fangs sinking into the side of my neck. I pushed him off me, immeadietly. Drops of blood falling onto the white sand. The wound healed quickly, leaving behind, no trace that it had once been there. When Louis regained his balance again, he started to rush towards me again. But, I'd had enough.
I stood my ground, radiating alpha energy. Louis skid to a stop, startled by this. He started to take small steps backwards. I growled and his ears flattened, his tail tucked between his legs.
"Alpha Thomas, please step into the arena. Before Thomas could step in, Louis had 'accidentally' stepped out of the line. He took off, embarrassed.
"Alpha Louis has been eliminated"
I could smell Thomas's fear and hesitation. Tarus was in full alpha mode. Thomas circled me slowly and I continued to watch him, amused. He didn't make any move and while he circled me, the royal Beta made another announcement.
"Alpha Zaden, you can now step into the arena"
Zaden rushed into the arena and without much effort, he moved Louis out of the way, pushing him out of the circle. Louis fell to the ground hard, particles of dust spreading in the air.
'We meet again' he said to me, telepathically.
'Hopefully, it will be the last time' I hissed.
We both attacked at the same time. I hit him, but he missed me. I was too fast for him. My claws tore through fur and skin, the anger and resentment I felt towards him blazing like the fire in a furnace. He rolled away from me and landed few feet away. He had nearly crossed the line.
'I killed Sheila! I killed your mate and I enjoyed every single second of it! Every. One. Of. It!' he taunted me telepathically, wanting me to charge at him like an enraged bull.
He started to stalk towards me when he didn't get the reaction he thought he would get. I bared my fangs at him.
'I'll take you down. If if it's the last thing I do' I growled. With a howl of anger and frustration, Zaden attacked again. We collided head on and while the crowd screamed and cheered, we were intent on tearing each other apart.
'I'm going to kill her too, you know. I'll end her just like her ended Sheila. I'm talking about Rhea' he mocked me and that was the last straw. I lurched at him, throwing my full weight on his body. He let out a howl of pain when I clamped my jaw close to his neck, blood filling my mouth. I stepped off him and he struggled to his feet.
'Is this all you can do?' he hissed.
We collided head on again. This time, I pushed him out of the circle. He landed on the ground, his limbs in an awkward position.
"Alpha Zaden, has been eliminated" the royal Beta said and the crowd broke into a loud cheer.
"Congratulations, Alpha Jaden, you have won all three rounds" he added. The crowds' cheer became louder and Rhea blew me a kiss. Tarus was amused by this.
'I told you it's not over until it's over, didn't I?'
I turned to look at Zaden who had shifted back to human form. He was still lying on the ground, coughing up blood. His nose was bleeding and he was wounded severely.
It was at this point that I smelt it. The smell of rogue vampires and....humans? They were so many of them.
All hell broke loose as everyone scampered to safety. Zaden's mocking laughter rang at the back of my mind and I blocked him out. My heart sank when I realized that I could no longer see Rhea.
'Rhea! Where are you?!' I asked her through the mindlink.
'Turn around. I'm behind you!' she exclaimed. I turned to look at her and sure enough, she was standing right there with my pack members.
'Let's get out of here!' I said and we made our way out of the place, the noise caused by the chaos, deafening.
...
"Is that all you want to bring with you?" I asked Rhea after she'd placed the bag containing a few of her clothes and her routine supplies in the car boot.
"Yes. Besides, you can always buy me more of those" she said and I snorted.
After we'd returned to the pack house, I decided that we were going to leave for the city of Manhattan. We'd barely said anything about the chaos the had rained down at the tournament.
"Drive safely, Jaden" Haru said and I nodded.
"Stay safe, Rhea!" Chase and Dana said and Rhea waved at them with a smile on her face.
While I drove, Rhea remained silent for a while. She switched on the radio, a love song was playing. I didn't mind.
"You were furious" she finally said.
"Yes, I was. He was riling me up" I responded.
She sighed.
"I can't believe he'd actually invited those rogue vampires and witches"
I raised a brow.
"Witches? I thought they were mere humans"
"I can recognize a witch when I see one. Besides, I'm part witch" she shrugged.
"Bringing them in was his back up plan" I said and Rhea frowned.
"The fact that he didn't cheat during the third round sounds strange. Or, he did something, but we just didn't see it" she said.
She was right. I'd expected a tougher match. But, the match hadn't been as bad as I'd thought it would be.
She placed a hand on my thigh with a smile on her face. "Well, who cares? He lost anyway. He can't be King" she said.
I hoped the rogue vampires hadn't killed the king. If he had made it to safety, then there was no harm done. I sighed at the thought of the people who might've hurt themselves in a bid to escape. I felt a little bad for leaving them behind. My priority was to make sure Rhea was safe.
"You're a good man, Jaden. I can see that" Rhea said, giving me a warm smile. We got to my home, late at night. Rhea looked so relieved. I watched her as she dropped down on the couch with a sigh. "Home, sweet home" she said with her eyes closed. I stared at her, amused. When she realized what she'd just said, she popped an eye open, her cheeks flushed.
"Don't be shy, Rhea. This is your home too" I said and she let out another sigh. She stretched briefly and let out a yawn which I suspected to be fake.
"Gosh, I'm not even tired. I'm bored" she stated and I left her there to head to my room. I knew she'd risen from the couch and had followed me all the way upstairs. I opened the door and turned to look at her. She gave me her famous sly grin. "So, what. ." she jumped right on me, silencing me with a kiss as she wrapped her legs around me. Well, it was times like this, that I knew that having a crazy Luna was well worth it.
