Frustration

RHEA
Klaus was watching me through the frontal mirror in the car. He'd been doing so since we hit the road, on the way to Colorado. He'd arrived at the building where Jaden was being held but wasn't allowed to talk to Jaden. So, he followed me to the pack house where I packed light. I told Haru about what was really happening. I also relayed Jaden's message to her. She gave me a hug, telling me that I needed it more. Dana embraced me as well.
"Stay safe, Rhea" Dana had said. After that, I'd gotten into the car with Klaus and he'd hit the gas.
I blew out a breath and rested my head on the glass window of the car. I wondered if Jaden was doing okay. I hoped that we would get out of this mess as soon as possible.
"Are you okay?" Klaus questioned. I shrugged.
"I'm not curling up on the seat, bawling my eyes out. That's something, I guess" I breathed and he nodded slowly.
"Did you know him?" I asked and he raised a quizzical brow.
"Who?"
"Daniel Hills. Jaden said he's an old friend. I was just wondering if you've met him before" I said.
"Dan used to be just like Jaden in high school. He had several tattoos. He was the brooding type"
I was surprised. Jaden had told me Daniel was the CEO of Halls Law firm. It was surprising to know that he'd once been a typical high school bad boy.
"How did they meet?" I questioned.
"Unforgettably. They fought with each other. It was the first time they had an encounter with each other. In order to punish them, the principal gave them a detention, making sure they were stuck together, in the detention room" Klaus said, an amused look on his face.
"Their friendship was a weird one. Soon, they came pretty close" he said and I nodded in understanding.

We finally arrived at a hotel in Colorado city. That night, I couldn't sleep. While we were on the road, I'd felt Jaden's pain for a split second, right before he blocked it. I was afraid that my fears had finally come true. Those heartless people were torturing Jaden. It didn't make sense. Why would they be torturing him to admit what he didn't do?
"They don't have evidence. They want a concrete one. It's why they're forcing him to talk. They have no idea who they're dealing with. They have no idea how stubborn Jaden can be" Klaus said from his position by the window, as if he'd read my mind.
"Did you feel Jaden's pain too?" I asked, my gaze pinned on him.
He turned to look at me and gave me a small nod.
"I have no idea what they used on him, but it hurt like a bitch" He said and my heart sank.
I buried my face in my hands as I let out a shaky exhale.
"Don't worry too much, Jaden is strong. He will be fine. We just need to find Daniel as soon as possible. He's the only one who can help us with this situation" Klaus told me.
I sighed, running my fingers through my hair.
"Alright. Goodnight" I said and he gave me a nod. I turned away from him and laid down on the bed, my gaze trained on the wall.
'Please, be okay, Jaden' I thought, closing my eyes. The sleep didn't come. How could I sleep?

Early the next morning, I took my bath and got dressed. Klaus had left the room as early as four am. I didn't know where he'd gone to. So, I waited. I got dressed and ate breakfast. Then, Klaus returned.
"Are you set?" He asked and I picked up my handbag and slipped on my sunglasses.
"I'm ready" I said.

We both left the suite together. Klaus drove into the city and when he stopped in front of a five storey building with the words 'Halls Law Firm' at the top, I was awed. The building was really large. We checked in at the lobby with the receptionist. We were given directions after this. Anxious, I stepped into the elevator with Klaus.

After a few minutes, we arrived at the top floor. Klaus pressed what seemed to be a doorbell by the door. The door slid open and we walked in. A tall man with dark hair was standing by the large window with his back to us. He was wearing a white shirt that was folded to the elbows, exposing the black inked tattoos on his arms. His black slacks was well tailored and his polished dress shoes shone in the lights. He was just as broad-shouldered and muscular as my mate. He turned to look at us, a smile on his face. He had heterochromia. One of his eyes was blue and the other, was a light brown. He was goodlooking.
"Welcome. Good to see you, Klaus" he said. His gaze drifted to me.
"You must be Rhea Stone, Jaden's mate. I'm Daniel Hall. It's nice to meet you"

JADEN
The metallic door of the questioning room jerked open and I stared, watching an unfamiliar werewolf as he approached me. He eyed me, his face twisted into an expression of disgust.
"Stand up, Mr Blackwood" he said and I instantly recognized his voice. He was the man who had been speaking with my interrogators, outside the questioning room. He was the man that wanted to make me talk.
"Why do you keep insisting that you didn't kill the South Alpha King?" He demanded.
I was much taller than he was. He had to tilt his head to the side to look at me.
"Why would I confess that I killed the king even when I didn't?" I said.
The next thing he did surprised me. He took out a long taser from the corner of his jacket. Then, he smirked.
"Trust me, you don't want to make me use this. Demon wolf or not, it's still going to hurt like hell" he said, taking one step closer to me.
He was threatening me, me of all people. It would be so easy to destroy this man right there and then.
"Come on, all you have to do is say it. Say that you killed the Alpha King, that's all. You don't have to make things harder than they already are" he said, taking another step closer to me.

It was at this point that I understood. They didn't have a real evidence. I was certain that they had bugged the questioning room as well. If I gave in, they would eventually use it against me. That would just worsen everything.

"I know I'm not supposed to use this kind of taser on anyone. Hell, I don't wish to use it on my worst enemy. But, you're a demon wolf. You can heal quickly, can't you?" He said and I took a step backwards.

Getting tasered was definitely not what I was afraid of. I was afraid that if Tarus sensed how much pain I was going through, he would make an appearance. It would definitely be ugly.

"You don't want to do this. Look, I don't want to hurt you. So, keep that thing away from me" I said, my frustration growing.

He laughed, mockery in his eyes. "I thought you never get afraid. For once in your life, you're afraid of a taser" he chuckled and I clenched my fists.

"I'm not afraid of being tasered. I'm afraid of getting myself stained with your blood. I won't be able to control myself and you won't be able to tame me if you bring out the beast in me. With one swift motion, I would attack you. By the time your scream alerts the others, you will be dead" I hissed.

He swallowed hard. I could smell his fear. He was also sweating already, his hands trembling with fear. I loved his reaction. But, fear makes us do terrible things. I saw the change in his eyes before he did it. I knew he'd just made a terrible decision. As soon as the taser touched me, black spots swam across my vision and I trembled, my body buzzing with electricity. I felt like a thousand needles were piercing my brain. My knees buckled and I fell to the ground, my ears buzzing.

Pain tore through every muscle and joint, eliciting a pained groan from me. Tarus was growling now, pushing hard against his restraint. He was one push away from taking over. I lay on the floor, dazed.
I saw him approach me with his damned taser. I was yet to recover from the first hit.

"You killed the Alpha King, didn't you?" He demanded as he squatted beside my quivering body.
I couldn't think and my mind felt fuzzy, so I didn't give him an answer. He was frustrated now.
He made to shock me again, but I managed to gasp out a word.
"Don't"
"Well, since you're being stubborn-"
I laughed maniacally.
"You have no idea that I don't say things I don't mean. If you do that again, I won't blame myself. It's all on you" I said, still breathing hard.
His eyes darkened and he rose to his feet. He was an idiot. He changed his mind again.
This time, my vision bled white. The pain was unbearable. My body quivering uncontrollably, my breath coming out in short, strained pants. Tarus couldn't take it anymore and in a flash, I was gone.
...
When I came to, I took in the sight of the questioning room. I slowly sat up on the floor, my muscles groaning in protest.
The walls had blood stains on them. So did the floor and the table. Lying on the other side of the room was the man who'd tasered me. His taser had been broken into two. But, on the other hand, he was disemboweled. His intestines and stomach had spilled to the ground. His head had been separated from his body and his right hand was lying several feet away. Tarus had blocked me out. I had no memory of doing any of that.

"He asked for it and I gave it to him. His screams were so satisfying to hear" Tarus said and I sighed, wiping my bloodied hand on the wall. My head was hurting really bad. 'Your body absorbed too much pain today, Jaden. It's not a good feeling' Tarus said and I closed my eyes, resting my head on the wall behind me.
'How much longer until someone eventually shows up?' I thought.
'I think they are afraid to come in' Tarus pointed out.
I sighed.
"They should be afraid" I mumbled.
I was certain that I would go crazy if I ended up spending seven days in the custody of the valerian wolves. I hoped it wasn't going to happen. If it did, bodies would definitely pile up like early Christmas presents.
