It was one of the nights Tyler and Zia were spending back in Mexico, they were going to California's castle in a few days.
Zia was missing her Ellie so Tyler gave her a surprise visit to Mexico, the look of surprise and happiness she had on her face when she woke up in her grandma's house was worth all the risk Tyler took by driving to Mexico from California.
He could do anything for her, anything.
He had her in his arms as she rested her head on his chest, making random patterns on his arm as she played with his fingers like a little curious kid who was trying to figure out the world.
Zia glanced at him and then looked away, her thoughts were troubling her, she was such an overthinker sometimes.
Sometimes she did not give a thought to anything before doing or saying it.
"You want to say something," it was not a question but a statement.
Zia bite her lip as she looked at him from the corner of her eyes, he was looking right back at he which made her flush as she wished to hide in his chest more than ever.
"What is it? Love?" He asked as she put her head in his chest, her body pressed against his as he felt her every curve as she kept her hands around his shoulders, looking at him with a pout adorning her lips.
"How do you always know?" She asked making a baby voice, Tyler smiled as he pulled her closer if that was even possible.
He pecked her nose as she smiled at him, he loved making her happy, seeing her smile because of him was the only point of his life.
His reason to continue this endless life, "I just know the voice of your heart, that speaks to me," he said as she smiled.
He was trying to be romantic something that was so out of his persona.
"It's been 3 years Tyler, 3 years we are together," she said as she looked at her finger that did not have a ring on it till now.
Even though she was a vampire, she still wished to be married to him, only him.
"It is just three human years Zia, what's the big deal in that?" He asked as she pressed her lips in a thin line.
" So it doesn't matter to you? How much time do we spend together," she asked as she raised an eyebrow at him.
"Wow wait, where did that come from?" He asked, raising his hands in surrender.
"And now you removed your hands from my body, what are you implying on—" Tyler did not let her continue with his overthinking as he pressed his lips on hers, taking her in a price yet soft kiss, he knew how she liked to be touched, every God damn spot, he knew her body in and out.
Maybe even more than he knew his.
"Zia, I love you, trust me when I say this, I do love you with everything in me," Zia stared into his eyes searching for a hint of a lie but she found none.
"It matters to me how much time I spend with you, how much time we get together but more than that, I honor the devotedness you have for me and I for you," he said as he pecked her lips.
"It's just I get to spend my days with you that is all that matters to me," he said as Zia's eyes moistured a little
She never thought Tyler had all these things in mind.
"I love you too," she said in between a tear rolled down her eyes, Tyler shook his head and wiped it with the help of his thumb.
"I want to tell grandma the truth about us being vampires," Zia said after a moment of silence.
Tyler's body went rigid, after all these years he got a mother figure in his life, and he does not wish to lose her.
"Zia ... We can't," he said as Zia's smile dropped.
"But why?" She asked.
"Zia, humans can't know about vampires unless they want to become one or a vampire attack happens to them," Zia raised her eyebrows, why had she never heard of this rule before?
"But—"
"I know Zia, telling her the truth will get us relieved but we can't tell her for 2 reasons," he said as she kept looking at him for further explanation.
"First is, she would not like to know the truth about how you became a vampire," Zia nodded as Tyler stated that
True, her grandma will never like the fact she became a vampire just for the sake of getting Ellie back to life.
She did all that in her love for her only family left, " and second... If a vampire's identity comes in front of humans and it is not planned or it doesn't fall in the categories I mentioned before then..." He gulped he did not want to fulfill the sentence but with the look on Zia's impatient face.
"Then?" Zia asked. She wanted him to continue.
"Then we have to kill that human, " Zia gasped as soon as she heard that
"You mean if we tell her then she has to die?" Zia asked as Tyler nodded
"W—what if we.. we keep it hidden from us?" She asked."sooner or later, situations happen, it is a curse too," Zia nodded, she was not ready to lose her only family just because of a truth she had to hide from her.
To save her life, Zia could do anything even if it meant lying to her
"I will never let her know," she said.
"I wish so too, love, she never comes to know about us," Tyler said as he tightened his hold on her.
...
"So you knew all these years?" Zia asked her grandmother who nodded proudly as if knowing the truth about vampires was a trophy.
