BROKEN PRINCESS

**NICHOLAS'S POV**

Some people feel that no one can match them because they have more money than others. But they should not forget that money does not always support because it stays with those who appreciate it.

Whatever I am today, it is because of my own hard work, that's why I value money. Yes, it is true that I also sometimes let people down but I do this only for the correct identification of the people. Most of the people talk to me because of my money, want to come in my good list and because of this reason I don't like to talk to unknown people.

But the thing about Aurora is different. She had clarified to me very well in the very first meeting that she does not care about my money. I had no intention to look down on her but I wanted to know if she is like other girls who only want to be friends with my sister just to come closer to me.

That's why I want to know her, want to be close to her, want to make her mine. But I know very well that she is not going to come near me easily. She is very independent, so whatever I want to do, I have to do it very carefully.

Right now I'm in Canada because of a business deal. But there is another important reason for me to come here. I have worked with many Canadian companies in the past but after today's deal, my investment will become the heftiest till now. Also, my dear friend Matthew will get the shock of his life when he will be learning my position in his biggest rival company.

He may be my friend but his arrogance is something I can't handle. So it's time for him to understand that there is someone who can easily beat him in cracking deals.

"Good afternoon gentlemen. I would like you all to meet Mr. Nicholas Moretti who is interested in investing in our company." Mr. Green the CEO of the company says while motioning towards me.

"Thank you for welcoming me here and also for accepting my offer." I reply with a blank look. I am not here for chit chat so what's the point of talking about useless things.

After that, we start discussing about the sector where I will be investing my money and how much. Some of the men look at me with wide eyes because they can't believe that I am willing to invest such a big amount of money.

However, I am not paying them much attention because I am waiting for the one particular person who is late like always. I look at my wristwatch and notice that Matthew is half an hour late in coming here.


"Hello, everyone. How are you all doing?" I hear Matthew's voice so I look up to see that not only he but also his wife is also here.

"Mr. Adams you should know not to be late to business meetings and on top of that, you bring your wife along too. May I know why is that?" I ask not caring that I am kind of insulting him in front of everyone.

"Umm, Nicholas? What are you doing here?" He asks looking shocked.

"It's Mr. Moretti for you because right now we are in a business meeting and to answer your question, why don't you ask Mr. Green what I am doing here?" I retort.

"Mr. Moretti is the new investor of our company. Not only this, his investment is so big that 70% of our company has come under him." Mr. Green informs with a big smile on his face. But poor Matthew is having a hard time in believing if he is hearing correctly or not.

"But I told you earlier that I am going to invest in your company so that there won't be any rivalry between us. Then how can you betray me?" Matthew yells.

"Don't raise your voice at me, Mr. Adams. It's my company so I can make any decision I think will help my company. Also, the board of directors doesn't have any problem with my decision so why are you getting so angry?" I smirk hearing Mr. Green's reply.

"If you are going to accept his offer then why did you ask us to come here in the first place?" Sienna asks looking livid.

"I didn't ask you to come here, Mrs. Adams." Mr. Green replies in a professional tone which I really like.

"Don't talk to my wife this way. She is my partner in business so she has the right to be here with me." Matthew retorts.

"Mr. Green if you don't mind can we complete the procedure of signing the papers because I have to leave in an hour." I remark and with that being said no one interrupts the meeting anymore.

After twenty minutes I am already walking out of the hotel with my bodyguards following behind me. I don't even wait for Matthew who has asked me to talk to him personally. Because I don't have time to spare on someone who is not valuable to me.

"Nicholas wait!" I roll my eyes but turn around to face the owner of the voice who is none other than Matthew.

"What do you want?" I ask rudely.

"How can you betray me in my own country? Who do you think you are?" He lets out as if I will get scared seeing him angry.

"This may be your country but Mr. Green's company is not yours. Also, where I want to invest is none of your business. So, from next time don't you dare to raise your voice at me." I threaten keeping my calm.

"Would you have done it if Arthur had been in my place?" He asks.

"There is a difference between fake friends and real friends. I hope you understand both of your importance in my life. So, don't try to compare yourself with him." I reply and walk out of there not waiting for any unnecessary chatting.

I am finally back in San Francisco from Canada. It felt like the longest traveling I have done in my life. But now I can go and meet the only person who is not leaving my mind since I have met her.

I know the way I behaved with Aurora a few days ago wasn't quite right so now I want to correct my mistake. If needed I will bear her anger but I will not be able to lose her in any way.

On the way to the bakery, I pick up a flower bouquet from the best flower shop I can find. I just hope she will like this small gift.

But when I reach the bakery I get to learn that she hasn't come today. When I ask for the reason but her employees are hesitant to tell me about her whereabouts. So, I decide to go to her apartment to look for her.

Immediately I drive to the apartment building and ask the receptionist about Aurora's apartment number before taking the elevator to reach her apartment. I ring the bell but no one opens the door which makes me worried. I again ring the bell but the same thing happens.

I go to the receptionist and inform her about the situation in which she takes a bunch of keys before we both reach the apartment. With the help of the extra key, we open the door but I stop dead in my track when I find Aurora laying on the floor.

"Aurora, hey open your eyes." I let out while tapping her on the cheek. But then I realize that her whole body is burning in fever. Without wasting any time I pick her up in my arms and ask the receptionist to take care of Skittles before leaving the apartment.

I put her in the back seat of the car and cover her body with a spare blanket I keep in the car. After getting into the driver's seat I dial Evelyn's number because I don't know anyone from Aurora's family.

Upon reaching the hospital I hurriedly get inside with her in my arms and find Evelyn waiting for me outside with our trusted doctor.

"Doctor I want your best team to treat her asap." I order after putting her on a stretcher.

"Don't worry Mr. Moretti. We will be doing our best to provide her with the best facilities. But to do that I have to take her inside the examination room. So, kindly wait here." I go to protest that I am not leaving her but Evelyn stops me shaking her head.

"Calm down bro. Aurora is a fighter and she will be alright. Now, will you tell me what you are doing in her apartment at this time?" She asks making me sigh before I run my hand through my hair.

"I am not going to beat around the bush because there is nothing to hide. I like Aurora and want her to be mine. But on the day of Arthur's party, I behaved quite badly with her when she refused to accept my offer of taking her out. So, I wanted to apologize for my behavior and that's why I went to her bakery. But then I got to know that she wasn't there so I went to her apartment and you know the rest." I explain feeling better that I don't have to hide my feelings anymore.

"I don't know what to tell you because it's any other girl I wouldn't be so worried. I'm really glad you finally like someone, but I'm very protective of Aurora. She has suffered a lot in the past so I don't want her to go through another heartbreak because of my brother." She replies.

"Heartbreak? What do you mean by that?" I ask wanting to know more.

"It's not my place to tell you anything. Just remember one thing, if you hurt her you have to face my wrath. Also, she may look like a strong person but she is extremely vulnerable inside. So, before doing anything try to understand her." She answers while I nod my head.

After forty minutes of waiting the doctor comes out of the examination room and informs us that Aurora's blood pressure is very low and also she is not eating properly. On top of that, she has a high fever which led her to get faint.

He also informs me that they are transferring her into a private room which I am very thankful. However, only one person at a time can visit her so I ask Evelyn to go first. But she refuses saying that she needs to inform Aurora's family first.

I get inside the private room to see that there is an IV attached to her right arm and she is looking quite pale. My heart hurt seeing her in this condition. I go near her before taking a seat in the nearby chair. I take her left hand in my own and kiss the back of it.

"You need to be careful with your health and also with your meals. You can't give me a heart attack like you did today. For one second I thought that I lost you for good but now that you are okay, I am not leaving your side. You can scold me as much as you want but you can't make me go away." I say while caressing her cheek with my thumb.

"I don't know how much you have suffered in the past but all I can say for sure is that I want to give you all the happiness in the world. You are the first girl for whom there is a place in my heart and I do not want to lose you at any cost. I have understood that nothing can be done by forcing you and I accept my mistake. You just get well and I will earn your trust before asking you to be mine." I let out with a small smile.

I kiss her on the forehead before getting up from my place and go near the window. I think about Evelyn's words from earlier where she has mentioned that Aurora's past is something I have to be careful. Apparently, there is something horrible that happened with her that has left her vulnerable.

I just don't understand why anyone would hurt a girl like her. But it is also true that bad thing always happens with good people. But today I promise that whoever has hurt her, I will destroy them. Whether it is one person or hundred people, I will not spare anyone.
