SURPRISE VISIT

**NICHOLAS'S POV**

"No, Mom I am not hiding anything from you." I tell over the call.

"Don't try to get over smart with me, I can still beat your white ass if I want to." Mom threatens which make me shudder. My mom is not someone I want to mess with because in the whole universe she is the only one who scares me.

"I am not being over smart with you. I am just telling you the truth that I don't have any girlfriend." I reply inwardly cursing Evelyn for opening her mouth about Aurora and my date.

"So, what about the date? If I remember correctly, you are not a person who takes girls on date so why the sudden change?" She asks.

"Mom, how about I tell you everything when you come here? I am promising that I will tell you about every little thing you want to know." I tell her as its futile to try to even lie to her.

"You better keep your words or I will keep my words of whipping your ass, got it?" She retorts.

"Yes, mother dearest." I reply groaning loudly while she laughs before disconnecting the call.

I slump down on the couch feeling tired all of a sudden. I really want to murder my sister for rating out in front of mom knowing well how eager she is to get me married. It's been only a few weeks and I have taken Aurora to another date, but this time I took her to a cozy Mexican restaurant as she likes the cuisine. I don't know where we stand at this moment but I can tell that she is more comfortable with me than before which is a good thing.

Today is Sunday so I don't have any work to do and that's why I am trying to be lazy for once. But as laziness is not a habit of mine so I get up from the couch and make my way towards my bedroom to take a long shower. After coming out of the washroom, I change into a pair of jeans along with a t-shirt. I am going to Arthur's place because I haven't met him for two weeks as he was out of town.

The moment I walk inside his mansion, a little body crash into mine and instantly I know who it is. I look at Aiden who is now grinning from ear to ear while his nanny is breathing heavily behind him. I shake my head amused with this little boy's tactics before telling the nanny to go and rest for some time.

"Why do you always give your nanny a hard time?" I ask pinching his cheeks.

"I don't give her any hard time. She just doesn't know how to play with me." He replies cheekily.

"By the way, where is your daddy?" I ask walking further inside the house.

"Daddy is in his study reading boring stuff." He replies pouting his lips.

"I am sure he is not reading boring stuff. I will go and talk to him. Till then you go and play with your toys." I say while putting him on the floor.

"You will not play with me?" He asks me.

"I will buddy but first let me talk to your daddy. You start playing, I will join you soon." I reply earing a big smile from him.

"Okay, Uncle Nick. I will be waiting for you." He says and runs towards his playroom.

I walk towards Arthur's study room and knock on the door before entering the room to see that he is indeed reading some book. He can be such a nerd sometimes. I walk near him before snatching the book from his hand and putting it on the higher shelf.

"What the hell is that, bro? Why did you take my book?" He asks looking very angry but I don't give a fuck about it.

"First of all it's Sunday so stop keep yourself busy in unnecessary things and secondly spend some quality time with your son. For God's sake he is only six years old, not some teenager that have lots of friends." I remark shaking my head.

He goes to reply but then closes his mouth knowing well whatever I have said is true. I admit that he is a great father to Aiden but sometimes he forgets that his son doesn't have a mother figure in his life so my dear best friend have to play that role too. Just by thinking of Aiden's mother, my blood boils because that woman only care about her body and the money receives from Arthur monthly in alimony.

"I can't face him." Arthur let out looking almost sad.

"Who are you talking about?" I ask.

"Aiden, I am talking about Aiden who is constantly asking about his mother." He replies making my eyes widen.

"So, have you contacted Brittney?" I ask.

"I tried but you already know how that woman is. She has refused to meet her own son saying she doesn't have time to spare on unnecessary things." He replies making my clench my fist in anger.

"How dare she called my nephew unnecessary? I will destroy that bitch." I let out before taking out my phone from my jeans to dial my mom's number who is a well-known fashion designer and can end Brittney's career with just a flip of her finger. But much to my disappointment, Arthur takes my phone and put it inside his pocket.

"I know you can easily destroy her career and believe me I will be very happy with it. But also know I can't do that or what she will do." He says making no sense at all.

"Then let her do whatever she wants. Look I think it's time you stop listening to her and accept who you are. Hell, go and claim the person you have been loving for so many years." I remark throwing my hands in the air.

"Things are not so easy, Nic. I can't just go and let the world know I love a guy. Not only that, you know well how my parents feel about same gender lovers. So, no I can't do what you are telling me to do." He says or should I say yell the last part.

"You are impossible to deal with. Hopefully when you come to right sense, the person you love will still be wanting you by that time." I remark and get out of there leaving him alone.

His ex-wife is threatening him that if he doesn't pay her money than she will tell his parents that he prefers men over women and my stupid best friend is so scared of his parents that he doesn't want to disappoint them. I really hate his parents because they think there are no one better than them in this world. They kind of reminds me of Aurora's parents who also abused their daughter.

Speaking of Aurora, I haven't talk to her today. Also, I think I should take Aiden with me to her place because I am sure both of them will love to spend some time together. So, I go towards Aiden's playroom and find him playing with his football. This boy and his obsession with football is out of my mind because if I remember correctly, his father never liked playing football and about his mother, I should keep my mouth shut.

"Hey, Buddy. Do you want to go with me?" I ask walking inside the room.

"Where Uncle Nick?" He asks picking up his football from the floor.

"To meet your pretty lady." I reply while he squeals loudly nearly destroying my eardrums.

"Yes! Let's go and meet pretty lady. I am sure she will feed me something delicious." He says tugging on my arm with one hand while holding the football in other.

"Where do you think you are going with this?" I ask pointing at the football.

"I am taking it with me. Handsome man told me that he will teach me how to play when we meet next time." He replies making confuse.

"Buddy, who is this handsome man?" I ask.

"Umm, I don't remember his name correctly but I think I heard pretty lady called him Jac." he replies making me understand who he is talking about. it's that Jacob guy who is like Aurora's little brother.

I don't say anything and let him take the football with him. I let the nanny know where I am going and tell her to inform Arthur because in no way I am talking to him right now. It's not my first time taking Aiden out so I am not worried about his father's permission.

Soon, we reach the building where Aurora lives. I haven't told her about my coming here because I want to surprise. Although now I am thinking I should have called her before coming here. What if she is not home and has gone somewhere? But now that I am already here, it's better to go inside and see for myself.

With that thought in mind, I get out of the car along with Aiden before making my way inside the building. Soon, the elevator stop in the floor where her apartment located. I ring the bell and wait for the door to open. But the person who opens the door is not Aurora. It's the old lady who came to meet Aurora in the hospital. Oh, now I remember, She is Jacob's mother whom Aurora treats as her own mother.

"Umm, sorry for interrupting your family time. I will come later." I let out rubbing the back of my neck feeling embarrassed.

"You haven't interrupted our family time, dear. We also come here to surprise our daughter. Come on, come inside." The lady says with a gentle smile. I walk inside and follow her to the living room.

"Who is in th-" Aurora stops mid-sentence seeing me with Aiden.

"Nicholas, what are you doing here?" She asks confusingly.

"He has come here to surprise you like your dad and I did." The lady answers before I can reply. I need to know her name as it's not appropriate to keep calling her 'lady'.

"How are you pretty lady?" Aiden asks Aurora's attention whose face instantly lit up.

"Aiden, I have missed you much." She says picking him in her arms.

"I have missed you too and thanks to Uncle Nick I got to come here." Aiden replies wrapping his arms around her neck.

"Hmm, so you are Nicholas about whom I have heard a lot." The lady remarks making me quirk an eyebrow at her.

"Nicholas, meet my mom and mom he is Nicholas." Aurora introduces.

"Nice to meet you, dear. I am Mendy." Mendy says.

"Nice to meet you, too." I reply shaking her hand.
