FAMILY DINNER
**AURORA'S POV**
It's been one week since my conversation with Mr. Campbell and I am trying to find the person who has sent the photos to Mr. Campbell. Nicholas has told me that he can help me but as I told him, I want to do it by myself. That's why I have asked the police to interfere in the matter to find the truth.
Right now, I am on my to Mom and Dad's place as it's very long since I have gone there. They have visited me quite a few times over the past few months and now it's my turn to go there. Not only that, Nicholas is coming too because he wants to meet them too. Frankly speaking, this will be the first time of him meeting them as my boyfriend and the thought itself is exciting for me. However, he will be there for dinner so I get to spend some alone time with Mom and Dad.
Upon arriving in front of their place, I pay the cab driver and walk to the front door. I ring the bell and surprisingly it's got opened by none other than Aiden which makes me confused. Still, I pick him up in my arms and walk inside, not before locking the door.
"What are you doing here, buddy?" I ask Aiden.
"Daddy has dropped me here because I wanted to meet Grandma Mendy and Grandpa Jonah." Aiden replies putting his head on my shoulder.
"Mom, where are you?" I call out when I don't find her in the kitchen.
"I am in the laundry room, sweetheart." Mom replies loudly.
I put Aiden on the floor when he insisted that he has to work with Dad. On the other hand, I go to the laundry room to see that Mom is trying to get the dark stain out of her white top.
"I don't think it will go so easily." I comment because I can see that the stain is not washing away.
"I know but it's one of my favorite tops which was given by my father." Mom replies sadly.
"Here, let me look at it." I say while taking the top in my hand to see that the top needs to be given to a dry cleaner.
"Mom, I will give it to a dry cleaner who will be able to get the stain out." I remark while she nods her head in response.
"By the way, has Aiden come here before?" I ask biting my lips.
"Yes, he spends weekends here." Mom answers making my eyes widen. Did Mom know about Arthur and Jacob? But Jacob told me they haven't thought about their relationship yet.
"What are you thinking about?" Mom asks.
"Umm, it's nothing." I reply smiling at her.
"Jacob told me and your dad about Arthur, adding that they wanted to be friends now. At first, we were very shocked because we never knew that our child was suffering so much. But on the one hand, it is good that all the misunderstandings between them have disappeared." Mom explains with a sigh.
"I am really happy that neither you nor Dad have any problem with Jacob loving Arthur. Actually, both have suffered a lot but now I just hope one day they will be able to get past everything and start a new beginning." I let out smiling.
"Now, you tell me how things are going between you and Nicholas?" Mom asks making me blush.
"Everything is going great. Actually, I have never been this much happy before and every credit goes to him. He doesn't force me to do anything I don't like and that's what attract me to him. You can say that he is the blessing I didn't know I needed in my life." I reply thinking about the uncountable conversation with Nicholas.
"It's so good to see you happy my child. I am not even ashamed to admit that my nuisance of a son Matthew never made you a little bit happy with his controlling nature. I am glad that Nicholas is far different than Matthew and knows how to keep his boundary." Mom says just as we hear Dad calling out to her in urgency.
Both of us hurry into the backyard from where Dad is working. Upon arriving there, I notice that he is holding a large fish in his hands which I think he has caught from the pond. I giggle seeing the irritating look Mom is giving Dad who is smiling in triumph.
"I am gonna grill this fish for dinner tonight." dad exclaims with delight.
"Jonah, I have already decided what I am going to make for dinner and what on earth were you thinking while catching this big ass fish? Are you really intending to feed Nicholas fish on his first visit here?" Mom asks Dad with a scowl.
"What's wrong with eating fish? It's healthy as well as very yummy and a young man with muscles like Nicholas should eat fish regularly." Dad answers holding his head high.
"Whoa! Grandpa that is a very big fish." Aiden says coming there.
"Isn't it buddy? But your grandma is scolding me saying that we can't have it for dinner." Dad remarks making me hold back my laugh while Aiden cutely glares at Mom.
"That's not nice, Grandma. Grandpa has given so much effort to catch the fish and you are saying that we can't eat it for dinner. If you don't want to eat it then it's alright, me and Grandpa will eat." By saying this Aiden walks inside while stomping his foot on the ground and this time I can't hold back my laugh anymore.
"Did he just tell me what to do?" Mom exclaims looking shocked.
"Yes, darling he clearly did and fun fact I am very happy about it." Dad retorts wiggling his eyebrows.
I have changed my clothes because after working in the kitchen, I feel too sweaty to not take a quick shower. Thankfully, I have a few outfits here or I have to ask Mom to give me something to wear. I have selected a Green Spaghetti Strap Vintage White Floral Print Boho Dress as it looks cute and very comfortable. I curl the edges of my hair to look decent while for makeup, I only add some lip gloss on my lips and mascara on my eyelashes. It's not like I am going out so I don't see the point to do much with my look.
I walk down the stairs when I hear voices coming from the living room and I can hear Nicholas being one of them. So, I peak into the room to see that indeed Nicholas is here along with Jacob and Arthur while Dad is telling them something.
I don't interrupt their talking, instead I go to the kitchen where Mom is taking out her famous homemade vanilla Sponge Cake out of the oven. Upon seeing me, she smiles at me and asks me to cut the cake in pieces which I do happily.
"When did the guys arrive?" I ask putting the pieces on a plate.
"A few minutes ago. I was going to call you but then your Dad said that he has something important to talk to Arthur and Nicholas so I let him do whatever he wants." Mom replies just as Jacob walks in there.
"Mom, why did you let Dad talk to Arthur? He is behaving as if I am a girl and he is talking to my boyfriend which you know is not true. Arthur and I are just good friends nothing more." Jacob whines while both Mom and I look at him with blank looks.
"Why are you guys looking at me like this?" Jacob asks.
"Because none of us believe in your bullshit." Mom replies while I nod my head in agreement.
"I am really saying the truth guys, please believe me." Jacob says making me roll my eyes.
"We can discuss about this later because right now, the food is getting cold. so, go and get everyone for dinner." I order folding my hands in front of my chest.
"Fine." By saying this he goes out of there.
