**AURORA'S POV**

"Yes, officer. This lady here has kidnapped my son and now denying to give him back to me." Brittney tells the police officer who have come here a few minutes ago.

"Miss Wilson, is Miss Jonas telling the truth? Have you kidnapped her son?" The officer asks looking at me sternly.

"Sir, you can see her son Aiden hiding behind me so you should ask him directly if I have kept him here without his permission." I reply professionally because I haven't done anything to be scared of.

The officer looks at Aiden who is now peeking out from behind still holding me tightly. On the other hand, Brittney gives me a look of triumph as if she has won a match. But alas, I won't let that happen because Aiden is not going anywhere without a disgusting person like her.

"Hello, little one. I am Lucas and I want to help you. So, can you please tell me what are you doing here?" Officer Lucas asks Aiden who looks at me with fear evident in his eyes making my heart clench for him. He must be scared seeing the police here as well as his mother.

"Buddy, you don't have to be scared of anyone. No one will scold you or harm you when I am here. So, answer what Officer Lucas is asking you." I tell Aiden kneeling in front of him while holding his hands in mine.

"My Daddy is in the hospital so I am staying with Pretty Lady." Aiden replies before wrapping his arms around my neck.

"Aiden, I am your mother so you need to come with me." Brittney says which only makes Aiden tremble in my arms. I pick him up in my arms before standing up to face the vile creature who calls herself a mother.

"First of all, you may be his birth mother but you haven't come to meet him for months and secondly he doesn't want to go with you so you can't force him." I let out daring her to try and take him from me.

"Officer, she has manipulated my son." Brittney screams making me wince while Officer Lucas glares at her.

"Miss Jonas, I am not blind so I can clearly see that the boy is scared of you. Also, don't raise your voice at my presence." Officer Lucas says sternly making me smirk.

"Miss Wilson, although the boy doesn't want to go with his mother but still we need to know if his father is really admitted into the hospital or not. Till then we have to take him with us." Officer Lucas lets out with a sigh.

"That won't be necessary Officer." I hear Nicholas's voice from the doorway making all of us look to find him walking inside the bakery.

"Ah! Mr, Moretti. What a pleasant surprise." Officer Lucas says looking at Nicholas wide eyes.

"Officer, Aiden is Arthur Silva's son whom I hope you have met before." Nicholas remarks standing beside me.

"Oh, yes. I know Mr. Silva and also heard about his accident. Actually, my colleague is working on the accident case." Officer Lucas replies.

"That's good to know. By the way, Arthur has a lot me as Aiden's guardian whenever he is not available. So, as his guardian, I have asked Miss Wilson to look after Aiden till I am done with some important meeting." Nicholas informs while handling a file to the officer.

"But I am his mother so I have full right on hi-" Nicholas raises his hand to cut off Brittney for saying anything further.

"You have given away your full parental right legally to Arthur so you can't claim your rights back. So, technically you are only a stranger for Aiden." Nicholas's voice booms making me get scared seeing his murderous expression. This is the first time I am seeing him so angry it's not something I am used to.

"Mr. Moretti, I think there is no need for me to stay here as the papers you have provided are valid. So, the kid can stay here with your permission. I will be taking my leave now." Officer Lucas says giving the file back to Nicholas before walking out of the bakery.

Nicholas walks towards Brittney who is now sweating while there is immense fear in her eyes. I know I shouldn't be happy seeing a woman in this state but for some reason, I am feeling great seeing once a confident woman now scared out of her mind.

"I have told you before that I won't tolerate your misbehavior around me. I am not gentle like Arthur so you should have thought before coming here to even stand in front of Aiden." Nicholas says so calmly that it sends a chill down my spine so I can only imagine Brittney's situation.

"Nicholas I just want to spend some time with my son." Brittney answers not making eye contact.

"Oh really? But if I am not wrong then I think you're the same mother who doesn't want to waste her time on unnecessary things like your son. Am I right, Miss Jonas?" Nicholas asks darkly.

However, Brittney doesn't reply instead shakes her head in response. I sigh knowing that I have to step into the scene or Nicholas won't spare the disgusting woman. So, I give Aiden to Parker who understands what I want him to do.

"Brittney, I hope you have gotten the answers to your questions so you should go away from here. Because if you don't, then I can't guarantee if I will be able to save you from Nicholas." I remark putting my hand on Nicholas's arms trying to calm his rage.

Brittney gulps down looking at Nicholas for one last time before hurrying out of there making me release a sigh. The atmosphere is so tense that I can feel it all around us.

"I really hate this woman." Nicholas mutters before turning around to face me and suddenly pulling me to his chest making me blush.

"What are you doing?" I ask fighting back a silly smile.

"I am trying to relax after seeing that hideous woman." He grumbles.

"By the way, how do you know that Aiden's mother is here?" I ask pulling away from the hug while looking at him with confusion. Because then why would he be here with those papers?

"Please don't get angry with me for whatever I am going to tell you, okay?" He lets out rubbing the back of his head.

"Why are you sounding so nervous?" I ask folding my arms in front of my chest.

"Umm, I may or may not put guards around your bakery." He replies sheepishly while I can't believe what I am hearing.

"How? I mean, I haven't seen any of them yet." I let out.

"Because they wear casual clothes to not get caught by you." He replies making me glare at him.

"Now, may I know the reason behind this amazing work?" I ask sarcastically.

"Aurora, many people have seen you with me and you already know that I have many enemies. So, I just want to keep you safe. Look what happened today. If I didn't come on time, the police would have taken Aiden. Not only that, they could have arrested you too." He answers looking frustrated.

"Nicholas I won't say that I am very happy with your decision because you should have told me about it. But I also understand your point of view so I am not angry with you." I let out smiling at him.

He may be an arrogant businessman and person but he also knows how to protect his loved ones. I don't know how much value I have in his life yet he is slowly making his way inside my heart with his gentle gestures.
