RECOVERY

**AURORA'S POV**

The first thing I notice after waking up from my deep slumber is the sound of faint beeping noise. So, I turn my head and see a heart monitor. Next thing I notice that someone is holding my left hand which confuses me. But for some reason, I am not feeling uncomfortable with the unknown person touching me which is weird.

Suddenly, the door gets open and comes inside Evelyn who is holding a paper bag in her hand. When she notices me she rushes towards me and hugs me.

"How are you feeling?" She asks looking relieved.

"I am okay." I reply in a hoarse voice.

However, before she can say anything the person holding my hand turns his face towards me and I get shocked to see that it's none other than Nicholas. I want to take my hand away from his grasp but I also don't want to disturb his sleep.

"He hasn't left your side since last night." Evelyn informs me while handing me a glass of water for which I thank her.

"Why did you call him?" I ask after drinking the water.

"I didn't call him, he was the one who called me, and also he was the one who brought you here." Shock will be a simple word because I don't know what I am feeling hearing Evelyn's words.

I feel a tug on my hand so I look at Nicholas who is now waking up. Soon he opens his eyes and looks straight into my eyes before standing abruptly from his place.

"Are you okay? You are not feeling any pain or dizziness, right?" He asks taking my face in his hands.

"Calm down, I am absolutely alright." I reply with a small smile.

"Aurora, your mom and dad is here. Can I call them inside?" Evelyn asks while clearing her throat which makes Nicholas takes off his hands from my face.

"Yes, please." I reply feeling happy to meet them but also scared because of the scolding I am going to get from dad.

"I will be outside." By saying that Nicholas gets out of the room and after one or two minutes dad along with mom come inside.

"You don't care about us, do you?" Dad asks making me feel guilty.

"Jonah not now, our daughter is recovering so you can scold her later." Mom says kissing me on the forehead.

"I don't want to scold her Mendy but she needs to understand that she is the most important person in our lives. So, she can't be reckless." Dad replies before hugging me.

"I am sorry for making you both worried. I am promising you I won't make this mistake again." I assure them.

"You better do that or I am making you come home and live with us forever." Mom says making me smile knowing well that she is not bluffing.

"By the way, who is that young man?" Dad asks.

"He is Evelyn's big brother, Nicholas Moretti." I reply.

"You mean the owner of NM Inc.?" Dad asks in which I nod my head.

"But you didn't tell us that he is your close friend." Mom remarks while wiggling her eyebrows.

"Mom! He is not my close friend." I let out with a huff.

"Oh, I know that young lady. He is not your close friend because he is much more than that." My eyes widen hearing dad's words.

"Ugghhhh you guys are so annoying." I retort glaring at them.

"Jokes aside, we are both happy that you are now okay. But you have to take your medicine on time and also you are not going to skip your meals from now on." Mom says making me nod my head.

"I will for sure." I reply.

We talk for a few hours before they leave the hospital with a promise to come check on me next week. They also ask Evelyn to look after me as they don't believe me anymore.

For the whole day, I don't see Nicholas which makes me a little sad. But it's also true that why will he come here when he has a multi-billion company to run.

By the afternoon, I get discharged from the hospital and Evelyn drives me to my apartment. Upon arriving in the apartment take a shower before changing into a cotton pajama set.

I find Skittles on the bed and when she notices me she starts mewing to get my attention which I give her. I lie down on the bed with her on my chest and run my fingers through her fluffy fur.

"Aurora, here is your chicken soup." Evelyn says coming inside the room before handing me the bowl of soup.

"Aren't you going to eat too?" I ask when I notice that there is only one bowl in the tray.

"I will make some cheese noodles for me later as I am not hungry right now." She replies taking Skittles in her arms.

"You finish the soup and I am going to feed this baby." She says before going out of the room.

I look at my phone with hopeful eyes but then shrug my shoulder before eating the soup. Suddenly, my phone starts ringing but much to my disappointment it's Jacob who is calling me.

"Hi Lil bro, how are you doing?" I ask after picking up the call.

"You tell me how you are doing." He retorts making me roll my eyes.

"I am fine, don't worry." I reply.

"How can I not worry big sis? You should have been more careful about your health but here you are coming from the hospital. It's good that Evelyn's brother was there to help you or God knows what would have happened." He says.

"Who told you about Evelyn's brother helping me?" I ask in confusion.

"Obviously Dad. You know right, how much protective he gets when it comes to you. He hasn't stopped talking about the young businessman who was holding your hand in the hospital and also how you denied him as your close friend. I am telling you he is not going to stop till he knows everything about Evelyn's brother." I groan while he laughs over the phone.

"Why doesn't he believe me?" I ask whining not liking the situation.

"He believes you but he wants to make sure that you don't fall in love with the wrong person again." He replies before disconnecting the call and I am not angry at him for doing that. Because I don't know what to reply to him back when I am in a dilemma about my feelings for Nicholas.
