A PIECE OF MY HEART

**AURORA'S POV**

"Fucking sick people!" Nicholas curses aloud when we are a few blocks away from the restaurant.

I am still unable to say anything because my mind is stuck on the questions ask by the reporters. Have I really done something to catch Nicholas's attention? Why is the question indicate something bad as if I have seduced him to be with me? But I know in my heart that my intention was never anything like that yet I can't do anything to stop anyone to think negatively.

"Are you okay?" Nicholas asks making me look at him to see that he is staring at with worry filled eyes.

"I don't want to lie to you saying that I am alright which I am not. But I also know that this won't be the last time that I have encountered the questions." I reply truthfully.

"I am really sorry that you have to go through all these. You already have your handful now these idiot persons are trying to ruin your privacy." He says gripping the stirring wheel tightly.

"Please don't blame yourself because you haven't done anything wrong. actually, I can't also blame the reporters because they are just doing their job but yes, it is also true that they don't have any right to invade anyone's privacy without permission. So, it's better if we stop thinking about them." I let out holding his free right hand.

"You are so different than others." He remarks with a small smile.

"How so?" I ask playfully.

"Others would have tried to get as much footage as they could being shown with me but you did the total opposite as if you don't care who I am." He replies.

"Do I need to care?" I retort.

"No, you don't because I know that both of us like each other the way we are." He says making me nod my head in agreement.

"By the way, where do you want to go now?" He asks just as an idea comes to my mind.

"Nicholas, how about I go to Mr. Campbell's house and talk to him right now?" I suggest.

"That's a great idea. Also, I can go with you so that I can help you if the situation gets out of hand." He replies but I shake my head.

"I told you that I want to solve the matter by myself so I am going there alone and please don't argue with me." I say the last part knowing well he won't keep quiet.

"Okay but if you need me then remember I am just a call away." He remarks while I nod my head.

I give him the address to Mr. Campbell's house and in twenty minutes we reach there. He doesn't let me get out before I swear to God that I will you as soon as I am done talking. In the end, I have to bribe him with a few kisses.

When he leaves from there, I ring the doorbell and the door gets open by none other than Mrs. Campbell who gives me a big smile before ushering me inside. I thought she would be angry too but it looks like she doesn't have any clue what's going on.

"How are you, young lady? It's been so long since I have met you. I am really glad you took the time to visit finally." Mrs. Campbell remarks hugging me gently.

"I am sorry that I couldn't come before. Actually, I don't get much time to spare so that's why I can not come very often." I reply smiling at her.

"Who is here, Rosy?" Mr. Campbell asks from inside the kitchen.

"Aurora is here, Adolf." Mrs. Campbell replies cheerfully but I don't think her husband will be a little bit of cheerful to see me here.

"What are you doing here?" And my thoughts prove to be correct because Mr. Campbell is looking very furious.

"Where is your manner, Mister? She is not your rival that you are talking so rudely with her." Mrs. Campbell scolds her husband while I giggle but then stops when I notice Mr. Campbell is glaring at me.

"Aurora, let's go to the living room. God knows this man is getting on my nerve." By saying this Mrs. Campbell tugs my hand and leads me towards the living room.

"Now, sweetie tell me. Is there any specific reason for you to be here?" Mrs. Campbell asks gently.

"Actually, I am here to talk to Mr. Campbell about something important." I reply nervously.

"But I don't want to hear anything." Mr. Campbell says walking into the living room making me gulp in fear.

"What on earth going on with you, idiot? She is here to talk to you and even before hearing what she has to say you are saying that you don't want to talk to her. I am warning you, Adolf James Campbell, sit your butt down on the couch and listen to what she wants to say." Mrs. Campbell lets out glaring at her husband who mutters something under his breath but comply with his wife's command.

"Darling, say whatever you want." I smile gratefully at the old lady before facing Mr. Campbell who hasn't stopped glaring at me.

"Mr. Campbell, I know you're angry with me for some reason but I want to request you that please don't make me leave the bakery which I have built after getting away from many difficulties." I say folding my palms in front of him.

"What is she saying, Adolf? Are you seriously going to take her bakery away?" Mrs. Campbell exclaims loudly.

"Rosy, we were wrong to believe her thinking that she is a good person. But now I have learned her reality so I can't let her keep the bakery." Mr. Campbell replies making me feel like I can cry anytime but I have to be strong.

"May I know exactly what you have learned about me?" I ask hopefully.

"You let a lot of bad men come to your bakery to spend quality time with you. Isn't it right?" My eyes widen in shock hearing Mr. Campbell's question.

"I don't know who told you all these things about me but I must say that I am not such a girl. I have worked diligently ever since I opened this bakery but never thought that I would have to hear so bad about myself one day. It's not just a bakery for me, it's a piece of my heart that I hold dearly and I will surely die if I don't have it with me anymore." I let out looking at him with teary eyes and I can see that his eyes have softened a bit. He doesn't say anything but get up and walk out of there making me feel like I have lost the battle. But then in a minute, he walks inside holding an envelope and give it to me.

"Explain the photos then." Mr. Campbell says while I pull out the photographs before a surprise gasp leaves my mouth.

There are multiple photos of Nicholas, Arthur and Jacob along with me inside the bakery. There is even one photo where Nicholas and I kissing. But who has taken the photographs? By looking at the photos, I can clearly see that someone is keeping tabs on my every movement.

"Mr. Campbell, these guys are not what you think of them. Here look at this one." I say while showing him the photo of Jacob.

"He is my younger brother. Actually, not by blood but by bond. He comes to the bakery many times a month and even the staff know him." I inform him and then take Arthur's photo in my hand.

"And this guy is Arthur Silva, the business tycoon. He is my customer as well as a very good friend of mine who brings his son to my bakery." I explain and then lastly pick Nicholas's photo.

"This is Nicholas Moretti and I think you might have heard his name. He is my best friend's big brother and my boyfriend." I reply truthfully because there is no reason for me to hide the truth.

"If you are saying the truth, then why did the lady who sent me these pictures tell me that the guys are related to Mafia?" Mr. Campbell asks.

"Which lady?" I ask back.

"I don't know her name. I got a call from an unknown number after I received the photographs. But when I called back, the number said being unreachable." Mr. Campbell replies.

"Can you please give me the number so that I can give it to the police? I think someone is deliberately trying to ruin my image." I let out.

"You are right, Aurora. I may have known you for only two years but I can guarantee that you can never do anything problematic." Mrs. Campbell remarks before turning to face her husband.

"Say sorry to the poor girl." I shake my head hearing the old lady's words.

"No, no, no need for that. I will be happy if I get to keep the bakery." I let out in hurry.

"Of course, you are going to keep it because it's your bakery." Mr. Campbell replies surprising me.

"Really?" I ask hopefully.

"Yes, really. Actually, I shouldn't have reacted so badly before talking to you. So, please forgive me for misunderstanding you." Mr. Campbell says looking guilty.

"Don't ask forgiveness, Mr. Campbell. You have done what any other sane person would do seeing the photographs." I reply smiling at her.
