AWAKE

**NICHOLAS'S POV**

When one of the bodyguards informed me about Brittney's sudden appearance in Aurora's Bakery, I instantly realized that woman would cause trouble for sure. Thankfully, I have the papers in the office that state that I am Aiden's Guardian whenever Arthur isn't around. So, without wasting time I reached there in time and got furious seeing the police. However, Aurora's presence calmed me down or God knows what I would have done to that good-for-nothing woman.

Currently, I am in the hospital as the doctor informs me that Arthur has gained sense. Aurora also wanted to come but I told her that she should be with Aiden because it's not idle time for the little boy to come here. So, here I am alone looking at my best friend who is not making eye contact with me.

"Who is Jacob?" I ask going directly for the question roaming on my mind for so long. Arthur's eyes widen comically making me give him a 'what the hell' look.

"Why are you asking that?" He lets out looking panicked.

"Arthur, for God's sake tell me the truth man. I don't want to pressure you but I need to know exactly how Jacob related to you, and before you say that you don't know him then let me enlighten you that he was here the day of your accident." I inform. For some minutes he doesn't say anything but then I notice a tear roll down the side of his face.

"I don't know which Jacob you are talking about but I only know one Jacob who is the person whom I love." He replies with a hoarse voice as if trying to hold back his tears.

I quickly text Aurora telling her to send me a photo of Jacob which she does instantly. I know I should give my best friend some time to relax but I won't because he needs to man up and realize that the person he loves has the same feelings about him. So, I show the picture to Arthur whose eyes widen before he takes the phone with trembling hands. He caresses the screen of the phone as if he is really touching Jacob's face making me understand that he has been keeping so many emotions underneath his smiling facade.

"Jacob is Aurora's brother and when she came here hearing about your accident, he was with her. By seeing his expressions both Aurora and I guessed that he definitely knew from before. Not only that, he got shocked to learn about your divorce with Brittney." I explain and take my phone back from him.

"I don't know what to say." He says hesitantly.

"Arthur, that boy definitely has some feelings for you but he is hurt because you choose someone else in his place. So, I would suggest that after you get better you should talk to him and tell him everything." I reply gently.

"What about my parents?" He asks looking at me with fear in his eyes.

"Stop thinking about their opinion for once because they only see you as some trophy to show the world. They didn't even visit you after your accident saying that they had more important work to attend to. Look, you are not only my best friend but my brother too. So, I don't want you to think about someone's else judgment because this is your life and you should do what brings happiness to you." I let out in hope he will listen to me this time.


**AURORA'S POV**

"Yes, Mom. I am okay as well as Aiden." I reply over the phone while putting some Mac & Cheese on a plate for Aiden who is watching cartoons in the living room.

"I really want to go there and look after the little one. He looks like he doesn't have a mother figure in his house to take care of him. Not only that, the way he calls me Grandma melts my heart." Mom says making me smile.

"You can come over on the weekend to meet him because he is going to stay with me for some more days." I remark walking into the living room and then handing the plate to Aiden who grins at me.

"Oh, that's good. I will then definitely come over to meet the sweet boy. By the way, how is his father doing?" She asks.

"Arthur's doing better but he needs to be in the hospital for two more weeks before he gets to go home." I reply remembering my conversation with Nicholas who informed me that our suspicion is true about Arthur and Jacob.

"Mom, I have to feed Skittles so how about I call you back tomorrow?" I let out.

"Of course, sweetheart. Give my grandbabies some loving from me and also eat your dinner on time." By saying this, she disconnects the call while I shake my head chuckling internally.

"Is that Grandma Mendy?" Aiden asks after I sit down beside him with my dinner.

"Yes." I reply smiling at him.

"I love Grandma Mendy and Grandpa Jonah." He remarks happily.

"You do?" I ask teasingly.

"Yup, they are so cool unlike Grandfather and Grandmother." He replies with a pout.

"You mean your Daddy's parents?" I ask.

"Yes, they are not bad but they always try to teach me manners as if I am mannerless. I am not mannerless, right Pretty Lady?" He asks making me nod my head.

"Of course, you are not mannerless. I think your Grandparents don't know much about you as they don't live with you and your Daddy." I answer.

"It's good that they don't live with us or I won't be able to have fun." He says while I try not to laugh seeing his horrific expression.

"Okay, it's enough talking. Now finish your food and then I will give you a bath." I tell him in which he nods his head excitedly.

I also eat my dinner while thinking about calling Jacob tomorrow. Now that Arthur has revealed his connection with Jacob, I don't want them to be away from each other. It's not rocket science to notice that they both love each other so they should talk about their feelings. Not only that, at least then Aiden will be able to have a complete family he wishes for.

Also, I have to talk to Nicholas and tell him about my condition. There is no doubt that I like him very much but just liking will do nothing. I have been cheated once before so I don't want to take any risk of rushing. First, I will reveal everything about me and then let him decide whether he wants to be with me or not.
