SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT
**AURORA'S POV**
"Do you think something is not right with Jacob?" Nicholas asks when there are only two of us.
"I have a feeling that he and Arthur know each other or why would he behave like this?" I reply.
"That's what I thought too. I have another confession to make but I don't know if I am invading Arthur's privacy or not." He says making me look at him to see that he is biting his lips which he only does when he is stressed about something.
"If you think by telling me can help Arthur in any way, then it's not a bad thing." I tell him.
"Arthur married his ex-wife Brittney just because his parents wanted him to. His parents are typically aristocratic who think of themselves as superior to everything which I hate most about them. They wanted to marge their business with Brittney's family business and that's the main reason for the sudden marriage. Everything was going good or people thought so because in reality Brittney wasn't a bit satisfied with the marriage she always wanted to live a lavish life, not caring about anything else. However, soon she got pregnant with Aiden and that's when she started to show her real color." He explains.
"What did she do?" I ask but I have an idea that I won't be liking what's coming.
"She tried to abort the baby without Arthur's permission or even telling him about the pregnancy. Thankfully, the doctor was my mom's friend so she informed me and I informed Arthur. Brittney refused to give birth so Arthur promised her that he would set her free after the birth of the baby and would take all the blame on him for the divorce." My mouth hang open not believing how a mother can try to kill her own child.
"Not only that, while she was five months pregnant she discovered about Arthur's deepest secret which gave her more chance to blackmail him and till this day, she is using that secret to get money from him." He further explains.
"Is it okay for me to know about the secret?" I ask.
"That's the only thing I want him to accept by himself because only then he will be able to get rid of all his insecurities." He replies with a sigh making me nod my head.
"I don't know what secret Arthur is hiding inside his hearth but will pray to God that he will be able to overcome his fear soon." I let out.
"By the way, when are we telling Aiden about his father?" I ask because I don't think it's good to hide from the little boy about his father's condition.
"Let's wait for two days and see if Arthur gains consciousness. The doctor has said that these 48 hours are very crucial for him so till then I don't want to think about anything." He replies.
-----------
I have come back from the hospital and find Aiden asleep along with Dad in the spare guestroom. I ask mom to make a cup of tea for me because my head is killing me.
I walk to my room and start stripping out of the clothes I am wearing. I get inside the washroom to take a quick shower. When I come out I notice mom is sitting on the bed with a hot cup of tea in her hands.
"Mom, why are you holding the hot cup?" I ask while taking the cup from her.
"I am just curious to know what happened in the hospital." She replies.
So, without further delay, I explain to her what happened in the hospital leaving the part where Jacob behaved like a completely different person. First I need to know exactly what's going on and then I will tell her everything.
"Hopefully your friend will get better soon. I am feeling really bad for Aiden, he is so adorable to get sad." She lets out making me sigh aloud.
"What's wrong, Aurora?" She asks worriedly.
"How can a mother be so cruel to abort her child?" I let out.
"Look at me Aurora." She says while taking my face in her hands.
"Did something else happen in the hospital?" She asks making a tear fall out of my eyes.
"Mom, Aiden's mother wanted to abort him." I reply while she gasps aloud.
"Oh, God! How could she even think about that?" She lets out.
"That's what I was thinking too and then I realized that not every woman has the desire to be a mother. But God still gives them a blessing to be a mother, not to those who would have really appreciated his blessing." I remark wiping the tears.
"I understand what is going on in your mind but I will say what I have been saying for so long. God can't be so cruel that your greatest hope will not be fulfilled. All you have to do is wait for the miracle to happen." She says while hugging me gently.
"Mom, thank you so much for always being there for me whenever I need a shoulder to cry." I tell her.
"My silly girl, you don't have to thank me. Instead, I should thank you for not stopping talking to me, your dad, Jacob after what Matthew did to you. Any other girl in your place would have broken all ties with us but you didn't. You stayed with us and let us be a part of your life." She replies.
"Because you three never let me feel like an unwanted person. It doesn't matter what Matthew did because I get to meet you guys through him." I retort making her laugh.
"You are never going to let me win, haa?" She asks jokingly.
"Nope." I reply hugging her back.
After mom leaves the room, I decide to call Parker to let him know that I will not come to the bakery for two days. I can't let mom and dad handle Aiden alone because he might start asking questions about his dad. So, it's better if I stay with him.
Also, I have to talk to Jacob about his involvement in Arthur's life. It doesn't matter if he tries to avoid the topic but I am 100% sure that they both have some history that needs to come out to the light.
After finishing my call with Parker, I start preparing for dinner which I have decided to make very simple. All of us love to eat chicken so I am making Chicken and Vegetable Stir-Fry. I have sent texts to Nicholas and Jacob to come here for dinner. However, when I send a text to Evelyn she responded that Owen has gone to their shared apartment and already preparing dinner for the two.
Thirty minutes later, the dinner is ready so I ask mom to wake up dad and Aiden. I quickly put a good amount of tuna in the feeding bowl of Skittles and call out to her. She trots into the kitchen and starts eating her food.
"Pretty lady, what took you so long to come back?" Aiden asks the moment he arrives in the kitchen.
"There were a lot of people in the bakery so it took me time to get back. But now look, I have made yummy dinner for you." I tell him while taking a chicken piece in a fork and placing it near his lips which he takes in his mouth quickly.
"Umm, so tasty." He says looking at me excitedly.
"Come here, champ." Dad calls out petting the chair beside him.
I serve them dinner but I don't eat as I am waiting for Nicholas and Jacob to come back. Thankfully, Aiden doesn't ask about his dad or Nicholas and finish his dinner talking about random things with dad.
I can see that mom and dad have taken an immense liking towards Aiden that they are eagerly listening to whatever he is saying. Aiden is also the same, or he wouldn't have agreed to stay with them regarding they are strangers to him.
Suddenly, the doorbell ring so I excuse myself and go to open the door. Upon opening the door, I find Jacob standing there. But there is something off with the way he is looking so I observe him and notice that he is drunk.
*Oh, no! Mom and Dad can't see him like this. Or they will assume that something bad must have happened.
But before I can think of an idea, he walks past me and straight goes to the kitchen. I follow him and try to take him to my room but he being the stubborn man, kneels directly in front of Aiden who looks scared.
"You are a very good boy." Jacob lets out with a slur looking at Aiden who is now holding dad's arm tightly.
"Jacob, leave from here to right now." Mom scolds but Jacob shakes his head.
"No, I am not going anywhere." Jacob replies stubbornly and looks back at Aiden smiling.
"You know your father is a good man but not for me. He is-" I put my hand over Jacob's mouth before he can say anything inappropriate in front of the little boy.
"Mom, please take Aiden with you to the guest room." I let out while mom does as I have told her. On the other hand, dad is looking super mad at Jacob who is now swinging side by side not caring that his ass is going to be beaten soon.
"I don't know what's wrong with you but want to let you know that you have made me ashamed. How can you be so reckless, Jacob? Can't you see that Aiden is literally scared of you? And what the hell are you talking about his dad?" Dad asks looking livid that I get scared but I know I have to be the peacemaker here.
"Dad, let him rest for tonight. I will talk to him tomorrow." I reply.
"Aurora, for the last time I am listening to you about your brother. But the next time he does something like this, no one will be able to get him away from my hands, not even you." By saying this Dad leaves from there making me release a sigh of relief.
I drag Jacob to my room and then to the bed where he falls down. I huff because it's not easy to drag a muscle pig like him.
"Jacob, drink the water." Saying this I give him a glass of water which is on the nightstand.
"I don't want water, I want answers." He replies moving my hand away but thankfully I steady myself so that I don't spill water on me. I put the glass back on the nightstand and then look at him to see that he has tears in his eyes.
"If you don't tell me what bothers you then I won't be able to help you. Please Jac, calm down and sleep for now. We will talk later." I tell him and run my fingers through his hair.
"Big sis, he rejected me for her then why later he gave her a divorce?" He asks making no sense.
"Who are you talking about?" I ask.
"He.." That's all he answered before falling asleep.
*Does this 'he' has anything to do with Arthur? Everything that's happening is pointing to one particular thing that is Arthur and Jacob definitely have a past. Not only that, Arthur may be the person whom Jacob told me about.
