Demi Demon
Claude smiled, he didn't know that for someone there was something more important than money and power. He didn't see any other ambition from Lucien's eyes which seemed only to be focused on his personal grudge against someone he once trusted so much.
"Sit down!" Claude said while sitting on the chair. Lucien followed him and sat in the chair in front of him.
A servant came with a tray containing two cups of Darjeeling tea.
"Thank You!" Claude said to the maid before the maid left.
Lucien observed the maid's movements which seemed strange to him. A man in a neat tuxedo and neat hairdo, but with a flat face.
"Is he human?" Ask Lucien. Claude took a sip of the tea in his cup before answering.
"No humans here!"
"Really? So, he's just like us?"
"Yes, that right!"
"But, why was he chosen to be a maid?"
"Not chosen, but he who chooses his own task."
"Choosing himself? Being a waiter and pouring tea?"
"Do you think being a maid and pouring tea is a miserable job?"
"No it's not like that, I mean-"
"Hahaha...it's fine, I understand what you're thinking. You mean, why would someone bother switching heavens just to come back to life and become a maid pouring tea, right? Back when I first revived, I also thought I see. I see there are dozens of demi demons who actually choose to be servants instead of doing much more important and difficult tasks such as spies, executors, gamblers and so on. I know there are still many things you don't know about your new life as for the sake of demon, Lucien. I could tell you everything now, but I won't because I don't want you to jump to conclusions like I used to do when the previous alpha told me. I think he's quite a reckless guy, but he's great and he finally gets his end what he wants."
"He managed to get his revenge?"
"Sure! That's the goal for all of us, right? He's the alpha that put The Hunters at its peak. It's thanks to him that the group has a lot of assets and all the businesses it owns are doing well. He left just in time to choose me as the next alpha, his body burned and disappeared in thin air. I and all the members of The Hunters that time witnessed how he went to hell and maybe now he is getting the most terrible torments."
"But at least he managed to get what he deserved and get his revenge, that's all that matters."
"Yes, I think you're right. That's why Lucien, I don't want you to get only too easy tasks, just like those maids. They are too cowardly and hope that someone else gets revenge for them."
“If they choose to sell their soul to Lucifer, it means they have the strong will to do it with their own hands. Why is it that even when they have the ability to exact revenge, they are hesitating and afraid like that? They want again."
"You know, Lucien? There are so many ways for Lucifer to drag people into hell. Some humans choose to go to hell without an invitation from him thinking that hell never existed. Some never wanted to go to hell, but Lucifer made them getting lost and forcing them to make a decision they never really wanted. Sofia and Jayden, they may have a huge grudge against someone, but they don't really want to reciprocate. But the slightest desire that rises in their heart will be easily read by demons like Lucifer who use that small desire and lead them down the path of darkness. But there are also humans who during their lives were so weak and helpless, died in revenge, but were afraid to take revenge."
"Like the maids?"
"Yes, they don't have the same courage as when they were still humans. That burning desire is only stored in their hearts. Cowardly people like this would be very grateful if a brave and strong monster like you to help them to avenge them."
"Unfortunately I have absolutely no interest in getting involved in other people's problems."
"Even if I ask you to do it?" Asked Claude who looked at him exactly the same as Victor.
Lucien was stunned, why every time seeing Claude made him think of Victor again and how Victor always tried to influence him to do whatever he wanted. He seems destined to be used as an asset for people who have power.
No, not anymore. It seemed to him that his life would never be the same again. He was here because he thought it would help him recognize and control his powers, not to be an asset to someone else.
"Yes, even if it's an order from you!" He said calmly.
Claude chuckled, he didn't know that Lucien was much more interesting than he thought. Remembering that Jayden who is the leader of the executors obeys his orders as an alpha, but Lucien doesn't seem to care about everything he's told, he does it when he has to and it's related to his ambition for revenge.
"Obviously he can't be a normal member of the pack, even a solitary being like Jayden I know position him. But Lucien, he's so different, I wouldn't be able to use the same on him." Claude thought.
"I don't want you to think that you can control me. I respect you as the alpha here, nothing more. I don't want to allow myself to be someone's pet dog anymore, who bites someone when ordered and is only loyal to his master. I am free, I will do whatever I want, with or without your help." He said while getting up from his spot and thinking that Claude would let him go.
