First Mission

St Moritz Kindergarten, Las Vegas, Nevada

"Are you ready, Lucien? Renata whispered right in his ear while he was focused on looking at a kindergarten across the street.

"Yeah-" he said nervously. He still couldn't really digest everything that Stefan, their team captain, just ordered.

His heart felt uneasy even though he had agreed to this first assignment. This afternoon he and Renata disguised themselves as the parents of a student who attends this kindergarten.

"Pevita Joanna Morisson, born September 17. The youngest daughter of Hendrick Morrison and Caroline Jordan, a real estate entrepreneur who is our target client."

"We should go out there and pretend we're Hendrick and his wife, is that it? I'm sure they'll realize we're not Hendrick and Caroline."

"Don't worry, Levi! Hendrick and his wife never drop or pick up their daughter at all. They are a very busy couple. Today there is an art performance at school, Hendrick and Caroline promised to come see their daughter's performance. We can come first disguised as them."

"With this stupid disguise? Tch, did you think they would just believe that?"

"Look at this mirror!" Renata said while giving a mirror to Lucien's hand.

Lucien was surprised, he saw someone else's face in the mirror. The face of a blond man in his late 30s. He doesn't know how this happened because all he knows is he didn't do anything.

"We're not normal humans, Levi. We're not going to do some ridiculous disguises like humans do. All we need to do is stay calm and try to act like the person we're impersonating."

"But I don't know what kind of person Hendrick is. How can I act like him?"

"Hendrick is very quiet and cold, he is not a friendly man including his children. He rarely shows affection and care as a father. Therefore you don't have to do anything but stay silent and ignore your daughter."

"Is that so?"

"Okay, let's go out. The art show might be in progress. We have to show up naturally."

"But what about Hendrick and his wife? What if they show up?"

"If the two of them Jacob, Keith and Rowan would take care of it. Looks like they won't have to say goodbye to their daughter. Their happy life will be over soon."

Renata opened the car door and stepped out elegantly, Lucien followed her. In an instant, Renata brought out her extraordinary acting skills in front of the parents of the students who were around them.

He took Lucien's hand tenderly as he entered the door of the hall where the art performance was taking place. Mere could see many people inside this hall, if they didn't have disguise skills, it might be hard to infiltrate in the crowd.

"Are you Mr and Mrs Morrison?" Asked a young woman who looked like a teacher from her demeanor.

"Yes, are you my daughter's teacher?" Ask Renata.

"That's right, madam! I am Emily, Pevita's homeroom teacher. Pevita was very happy and kept telling her friends that her father and mother would come to watch her show today. She would be happy to see Mr and Mrs!"

"Yes, he has been looking forward to this for a long time. Where is he?"

"What a coincidence, Pevita and her friends just got on stage. Please!" Said the young teacher while inviting Renata and Lucien to take seats right in front of the stage.

A small, brown-haired girl who stood right in the middle seemed busy looking around at her surroundings. His eyes were directed towards the audience stage, as if he was looking for someone.

Lucien looked at the little girl whose face was exactly like the one in the photo he saw yesterday.

"The little girl is Hendrick Morrison's youngest daughter and also his only daughter. His five year older brother lives in the boarding school. Hendrick and his wife have two children, but they are too busy taking care of their business. Pevita Morrison, she has a slight problem in speaking, he stutters and also has breathing problems. He suffers from asthma, because of that his asthma can flare up at any time. Actually the school forbade him to appear on stage considering he had difficulty speaking let alone having to sing with the other children. However she insisted because she wanted her mom and dad to come to school. Her homeroom teacher kept her on stage for a little dance, but she was forbidden to sing."

"What are we going to do after watching the show?"

"Get this little girl in the car and drive home, do the usual parent-child activities while waiting for her next order. Me, Jacob and Rowan will be stalking Hendrick and his wife, catching them off guard."

He could only follow Keith's orders, the team captain of seven, without further questions. This is his first task, different from his job as a jockey which he can easily complete, being an assassin is a tough task.

That little girl might soon be separated from her parents who have become targets of contract killers. He couldn't imagine how this girl would feel when she found out that her parents were never coming home.

"M-mother...! Father...!" Pevita's scream was heard with a wave from her tiny hand.

He waved at Lucien and Renata from the stage. The singing that originally came from the children's mouths, immediately stopped when one of them suddenly called his parents.

"Pevita, don't do that!" The young teacher tried to warn him from behind the stage. But the little girl seemed to care. He smiled broadly with teary eyes while waving cheerfully.

"Mother...Father...I am here...!" he said. Doesn't this little girl stutter? That was the information he knew about the little girl. But how come he can speak fluently?

Lucien smiled and rose from his seat clapping his hands.

"Well done...! Nice job, baby!"

Everyone looked at him impressed, especially Renata who sat beside him. He was surprised because Lucien could do something beyond his cold and indifferent appearance.

"Act as a good father huh? Yes that's fine." Inner Renata. He got up from his chair while also applauding the children who had given a good performance. The parents of the other students stood up and applauded.

The little brown-haired girl standing on the stage laughed merrily, she danced like a butterfly flying among the blooming flowers.

"Father...!" The little girl ran and immediately hugged him. Lucien was a bit confused about what he should do now.

Renata said that Hendrick was a cold father and did not have a close relationship with his children. Did that mean he had to let go of this little girl's embrace to show Hendrick the real deal?

"Don't hug me like that! Be polite!" He said firmly as he let go of his daughter's tight hug.

This little girl looked quite surprised, but strangely she didn't flinch like a child her age should do when her parents scolded her.

"I-I'm sorry, W-father! I-I'm s-glad that you could d-come w-with I-mother." he said. He smiled gently, his face looks very happy. Seeing her smile that was so sincere somehow made Lucien feel guilty.

"Don't hug daddy in public! Let's go home!" Renata said as she grabbed the little girl's hand and brought her into the car.

Lucien took his place in the seat then, Renata sat beside him while the little girl sat in the passenger seat. He kept smiling and showing his happy face.

"M-Mother, w-are you w-going to c-cook u-a special e-dinner for me?"

"Of course not! Mom and Dad are busy, you're going to have an evening as usual!" Renata said firmly.

"B-but my b-friends m-said Mom m-they would m-cook them a special d-dinner b-because m-they s-tried their t-best."

"Your friends tried their best, but you didn't! You ruined the show by shouting on stage like that. You're embarrassing me!"

"Darling...!" Lucien immediately denounced the conversation when he saw the sad look on the little girl's face through the car window.

He wanted so badly to say what he was thinking. But he realized one thing that what Renata was doing was part of their plan.

"You see? Your father is mad, isn't he? We're not going to see your show again until you can speak properly!"

"Sob..."

The atmosphere became silent and the only sound that could be heard was the little girl's cries that she was trying to hold back by covering her face. Lucien kept glancing in the mirror of the car in front of him to see how this girl was doing.

He was worried and also felt guilty, especially when he remembered the fact that this might be the last time he could meet his father and mother. But the last impression he received was just a bad impression that he shouldn't have.

After the car they arrived in front of Hendrick Morisson's luxury home. The little girl immediately opened the car door and ran into her house while holding back tears.

"I think you shouldn't be so hard on him!"

"What do you mean? That's how her parents behaved with her! There's nothing wrong, we're just following what they've been doing all along."

"But she's still too young to accept the fact that she will soon be separated from her parents! So we-"

"What's wrong with you, Levi? Why should we care about that little girl's feelings? We're just doing our job and we're not humans who should care about their feelings. Forget it! I hope you don't act rashly!"
