Betrayal

"Strange? I don't feel tired at all, even though I've walked so far without food. There's no way that what the devil said is true. I'm sure something is wrong here!"

He kept thinking hard every time he felt a strange symptom in his body. It's like there's no feeling of fatigue even though he keeps walking or doesn't rest at all, but what's even weirder, he knows every time something is going to happen, as if his reflexes and instincts work 100 times faster than humans.

He doesn't really remember what happened to him after he met Lucifer. The demon simply said that he would be resurrected and his soul would belong to Lucifer after his revenge was avenged. That was the only part he remembered.

"Hey, watch out...!"

"Hah?"

Braaakkk...

A truck lost control and almost hit him, Lucien immediately jumped and avoided the truck so fast that the truck crashed into the wall of a skyscraper.

Everyone screamed hysterically when they saw dozens of people who were victims of the crash lying in the middle of the road. Most of the victims died in appalling conditions. Lucien almost fell victim to it, but he managed to dodge just in time.

"Hey, man! How did you manage to avoid that truck?" Asked a man who saw how he jumped and managed to avoid the truck.

"I-I don't know!"

"Wow..."

Lucien hurriedly left before he could get more attention from his stunt. People began to gather around the bodies of those who were killed or seriously injured while waiting for the police and ambulances to arrive.

"Oh my God!"

Lucien was surprised when he heard Ruby's voice nearby. He immediately looked back, right near the crowd of people who were curious about the accident that happened, Ruby stood with a pale face.

"Ruby?"

His heart was beating very fast when he saw Ruby's face. He was happy because finally he could meet Ruby here. But something happened and surprised him.

"Come on, baby! Don't look at such horrible things. We better go home now!"

"But I-"

"Come on, Ruby! I don't want you to have nightmares after seeing something horrible like that!"

"Victors?"

Lightning seemed to strike right in his head when he saw Victor with Ruby right in front of his eyes. His body was shivering, he felt his blood flowing so hot.

Ruby took Victor's hand as if they were very close. Victor took Ruby into his luxury car as if he had forgotten about it. His heart was broken seeing how the woman he loved was making out with the man who had killed him.

His hands clenched and trembled, he did not know this was the end of the sacrifice he had made for Ruby. He gave up the heaven he got and exchanged it for hell just to protect Ruby and make sure he was in a safe place. But in fact Ruby is fine, Ruby doesn't care at all whether she disappears or dies.

One year, in just one year things changed. In just one year Ruby forgot about it so easily. She sold their house, the house she bought from her two years of hard work in just one year, Ruby left the house empty and left memories of the two of them.

"I want to warn you one thing, Lucien. One hate will breed another and it will never end. Make sure you don't regret your decision to take the path of darkness, because people change, including the heart of the wife you love. If you change your mind before you take that path, you can summon. However if a pact is made, it means your soul will be cursed forever."

He thought back to what the angel had said to him before disappearing and he realized that what the angel had said was true, people's hearts can change very quickly. He had sacrificed everything, even when he was dead, he still thought of Ruby. His love is so great, but what he gets is betrayal.

"Tch!"

Lucien held his aching head, he didn't know what had happened to him and all day long he continued to have a torturous headache.

"Ugh, damn it...!" Lucien screamed in pain. It was so painful that he felt that his head was about to leave his body.

"Aagh..."

Lucien started screaming as he felt a burning sensation in his body, as if there were burning coals growing inside his skin.

The pain came along with the great strength that was in his body. Inside this empty house, his screams grew louder and louder. He was sure there was something wrong inside him. He decided to leave the house and ran into the nearby woods where no one needed to hear his screams.

"Aaargh..."

Lucien felt the changes in his body that were getting out of control, no longer a human voice, his screams now sounded like a raging beast.

Slowly his body began to transform into the form of an enormous two meter wolf. He rages and destroys everything around him. Trees were uprooted and the ground eroded, it howled and growled.

Sraaakkk...

A fox monster with a much smaller size than him charged at him at a very high speed. The creatures attacked him from all directions, Lucien who was not used to controlling his new form was quickly subdued.

"Grrr..."

The fox growled and knocked him out in a matter of minutes. His defeat brought his human form back, leaving several bite and scratch marks on his arms and shoulders.

"Finally I found you, Lucien!" Said the Fox. He spoke in human language.

Lucien was surprised, he didn't know why the fox monster could recognize him. He tried to get up even with wounds all over his body.

"Who are you?"

"Me? So you completely forgot about me? The person you killed?"

The fox monster transformed into a human, showing its true form. A charming brown-haired and hazel-eyed young woman with a fox tattoo on her right arm.

Lucien's eyes widened, he knew who this woman was and he still clearly remembered that the fox woman who stood up died 10 years ago.

"Sephie?" He said. His heart was beating very fast realizing that this woman was Sephie, his ex-girlfriend when he was in high school. Sephie dies in an accident on their graduation day.

The woman smiled sinisterly at how she had finally found Lucien after her long search. Seeing this man made her anger rise again, she had a very big grudge.

She tried to attack Lucien again, but not with her fox form. She jumped on top of Lucien, grabbed his neck and kissed him.

Lucien was dumbfounded, realizing that Sephie, who was previously angry with him, had suddenly kissed him like this, making his body suddenly immobile, as if some strange magic had entered his body through this kiss.

Sephie let go of the kiss, she smiled cynically and it was clear that it wasn't a smile that showed that she was angry. Their eyes met for a moment, then she pushed Lucien away and got off of him.

"Aren't you already dead?" Ask Lucien. He remembers exactly how Sephie died in a motorbike accident 10 years ago. He saw her body right before his eyes.

"You killed me, didn't you? You took my life! It's all your fault, Lucien! And I want to take my revenge on you again!"

"How did you come back to life?"

"You want to know? But-" suddenly her words stopped when he realized one thing that she didn't realize a few minutes ago.

Her eyes widened, she looked so shock as if something had made her very disappointed.

"Sephie! I ask you, how did you come back to life when you died 10 years ago?" Lucien began to realize one thing after he saw how someone who had died suddenly came back to life just like himself and this made him suspect one thing.

"So, you're dead too, huh?"

"You disappointed?"

"Sure, because I hope you die by my hands!"

"Are you holding a grudge against me because of the accident?"

"You're still asking if I have a grudge against you? You're such an asshole...! Why am I the only one who died? Whereas you survived and continued your life happily! Damn it, I'm really pissed off!" Sephie growled, she was so angry she felt like she wanted to cry.

Lucien stared at her for a moment, he couldn't believe that he could meet again the girl he had loved in the past. Just like Sephie said, the accident probably happened because of her mistake. But the one who died in the accident was not him, but Sephie.

Sephie's death made him feel very guilty, especially to Sephie's parents who blamed him. However, due to the lack of evidence that the accident was the result of negligence, the police could not imprison him.

He did all kinds of ways to make amends. But that just made him look like a coward. The only moment he can truly get over is when he joins forces with Victor and becomes his confidante.

"I understand, just like you, I have a grudge against the person who killed me!"

"You were killed? Tsk, I knew it!"

"I still don't know what happened to me, but I suddenly revived at the place where my body was buried in the middle of the forest one year after my death."

"Let me guess! An angel picked you up in the afterlife and told you he would take you to heaven?"

"Yes!"

"And when you were going to go with him, you met Lucifer the demon king who offered you a contract that you must fulfill if you want to be revived, is that so?"

"You experienced it too?"

"Hahaha...to think that the person I was aiming for would actually die and do the same thing as me. Become a slave of Lucifer and rot in hell forever."

Sephie burst out laughing like it was something worth laughing about. But from the look on his face, Lucien could tell he was hiding something. His aura was dark and filled with anger and it was all aimed at him.

"Are you saying we'll rot in hell forever?"

"You don't remember? It's only natural that you still don't remember everything since it seems like it was your first transformation as a half-demon in the form of a wolf monster."

"Half-demon? What are you saying?"

"We are humans who have been resurrected back into the world for the same purpose, namely to take our revenge on a person or group that makes us unwilling to die. When we make a contract with Lucifer, it means we are ready that our souls are in his hands and if our revenge has been avenged, so he will pick us up and take us to hell. But the good news is, we will return to live in the world, but have demonic powers."
