The Devil's Desire

Sebastian watched Lucien for a moment, he was sure that night's events had really shaken him mentally. Meeting face to face with the people who killed you, of course it's not an easy thing. Even though he was no longer a human now, he still felt that trauma very strongly.

"One of them managed to escape,"

"Is it true?"

"I still have a hard time believing that Victor hired demons to kill me."

"I bet he doesn't know that the assassins he hires aren't human. Just like when he hired Jonathan to be the jockey at his casino. Unfortunately, killing for demons won't do too much, but it will make your demonic side take over your soul and mind more quickly than it should."

"What?"

"I heard that when you transformed into your monster form, you changed completely into your perfect form. It was a bit too fast if it was your first transformation."

"I don't think it's my first change. I changed when I first met Sephie. But she said my form was still half wolf and half human."

"So, you could say this is your second transformation?"

"Yes-"

"Is that so? But it's still a bit too fast. I've heard that Jayden got his perfect form in his fifth transformation. As for me in his seventh. Even an alpha like Claude only got his perfect form in his fourth and all I know is the fastest so far."

"Is it true?"

"Very interesting. I think Claude and Jayden have thought this through. Although it was fatal, Claude managed to glean one important piece of information about you."

"Wait a minute! What do you mean? What information did he get?"

"This is just my guess, Claude did plan for you to be at the casino that night to see what might happen if you were to face the enemy. But Jayden refused because he didn't want to take the risk of a fight in a place still controlled by humans. But Jayden knew that he's the only person Claude can rely on in this matter. He's the only one who has the possibility of defeating you."

"You mean Claude purposely let Sephie and you make the decisions about bringing me there, even though Jayden tried to go against it?"

"Yes,"

"Tsk, damn it. He's really sneaky!"

"That's why he became the alpha."

"By shifting responsibility to his subordinates? I think this is a very crazy group."

"Lucien, I think you're forgetting one thing about who we really are. If you don't think what others don't think, then you won't be able to lead this group of hundreds of demons. Claude always thinks faster than the rest of us, about everything that can bring The Hunters to the top of the hierarchy. Even though he has to sacrifice many things including his subordinates, he doesn't care as long as his ambition is achieved. He's a cunning devil, he doesn't care about anything other than his desire to rule this world.

Lucien was stunned, for him who was still too new to this world, he felt that Claude's actions were very selfish. He inflamed the safety of his subordinates just to test the person he would make as his number one weapon.

"Could he have been any more ruthless?"

"An alpha must be the ruthless one in the pack. Jayden who served as the leader of the execution squad only kills and eliminates targets. He doesn't care and doesn't care about things outside of his duties. But do you know there is something much more terrible than killing someone?"

"What?"

"Destroying someone's life makes that person feel that death is far better than having to continue living in this cruel world and Claude is the destroyer of many people's lives since he led The Hunters."

Lucian felt as if he was at a loss for words to say. He didn't really know Claude and what he really was like. Years ago he had met Claude when they were both still living as humans. But at that time he did not know anything about Claude's figure and what kind of life he was leading, which made him decide to become a devil.

"Do you know how he die? Or the one who had killed him?"

"All I know is that Claude was killed in front of his family by gangsters who were his sworn enemies for years. I also don't know much about his past, but it seems like he wasn't a good person when he was still human. But why was he almost put in heaven? That sounds weird to me."

"Is he part of a gangster?"

"Yes, he was part of one of the most horrific gangster groups in Las Vegas. But some say that he decided to quit the group a few months before he was murdered right in front of his wife and children."

"Maybe he came out after repenting to God for his sins."

"Hahaha...I don't know, but his youngest son decided to become a priest. I think that influenced his decision to leave the gang. Being brutally murdered where your wife and children have to witness it, I think that's the most the scariest thing ever. So deciding to come back to life to avenge him, I think that makes sense."

"The only thing that doesn't make sense is his desire for world domination. Shouldn't that be out of line with his goal?"

"That's why I said that our desires before becoming for the sake of demons and what we want now will be very different. It's possible that Claude didn't want it in the past. But as time went on and his humanity faded away, he changed and decided to follow the desires of the devil within him that could never be satisfied.”
