Chapter 38: Taken Out
Dax POV
I was tossing and turning while trying to get back to sleep until I heard a distressed sound. It was Danica. She was screaming from her room. Something was very wrong.
She sounded as if she was being attacked. I immediately sprang from my bed and ran down the hallway. Never had I imagined that someone would break into the mansion.
It was one of my worst fears that Danica would be attacked. My heart sunk at the thought of someone hurting her. I wouldn’t let anyone hurt the woman that I still cared for.
No wanting to waste any more time, I barged into her room. Danica was surprised to see me. Her eyes were opened wide, and the guy looked caught off guard. I was sure he hadn’t expected me to interrupt whatever he had been planning to do to Danica.
This man was such a b*stard. How dare he try to make advances towards Danica? It was absolutely repulsive. He shouldn’t have done this.
But he had made a huge mistake. This man was going to pay for breaking in like this. It was too late for him to get away without any consequences.
I tackled him to the ground and started punching him hard in the face. The man didn’t even have time to react to my sudden attack. He looked absolutely terrified as my fist kept connecting with his face.
I was so filled with rage that I couldn’t stop hitting him. This man had to pay for scaring Danica. He had taken away her feeling of safety. I didn’t like her feeling scared in my house.
He needed to know that he done a great wrong. I wasn’t going to make him forget this night. Hopefully this would deter him from returning back to the mansion. I would gladly put him into his place again.
When blood ran down his nose, I kept pinning him down but didn’t punch him anymore.
Where was my security team? I thought that they were on their way. They should have heard the commotion and come running. I didn’t want to pin down this man forever. He needed to get thrown out of house and get out of my face. I couldn’t stand looking at him anymore.
These things never used to happen. It seemed as if bad things kept happening while Danica had been here. It used to be safe in my mansion.
I really wanted to know if she had asked him to come into her room. Part of me felt disgusted that Danica would want to do this in my own house. It was so wrong.
I would talk with her after this scumbag got taken away from us. We needed to talk privately about this. I didn’t want to shame her by talking in front of the security detail.
Danica POV
Jason was taken away by security a few seconds after Dax had pinned him down. I had never known that he could be so tough. Jason looked as if he had been beaten up by a gang. Dax had never lost his control like this.
It almost made me a little fearful of how strong he was. I wasn’t sure what to say to him and thought over what had happened.
Jason deserved what had happened to him. He broke into the mansion and tried to go after me. I was still shaken and upset by the experience. I don’t know what I would’ve done if Dax hadn’t come to my rescue.
How was he always around when I needed him? It was good that he was. Jason could’ve done something really bad to me. That was too close of a call. When would all of the madness end? I didn’t know how much more I could take.
I got out of the bed and went to look out the window. Jason was being escorted off the mansion by a security detail. I hoped he was getting arrested for breaking and entering. A man like that shouldn’t be on the loose.
Maybe I needed a restraining order from him. The sooner the better. I couldn’t deal with Jason coming back here and finish what he was going to do.
A shiver went down my spine at the thought. I had to try to calm down before I broke down in tears. I wanted to be strong even after almost getting assaulted. Dax wouldn’t see me cry again if I could help it. He had seen me cry too much already.
Dax walked over to me and said, “I can’t believe you’d invite that man here.”
No. Did Dax really think I had invited that creep over? How could he think that of me? I would never do that. My
mouth fell open in shock before I got my composure back. I couldn’t let Dax see that his words affected me that badly.
“You don’t seriously believe I invited him over?”
“Yes, I think you did. I get that you want to get back at me, but this isn’t the way to go about it.”
I poked him hard in the chest and said, “I didn’t invite him over. You’re comple…”
He cut me off and said, “You’re just trying to hide that you did this. I don’t want to hear it.”
“If you just let me explain…”
“No, just stop talking. I can’t listen to you talking about this other man.”
I wasn’t sure what else to do. Maybe I could just briefly distract him. It wouldn’t hurt to try something to get out of this potential argument.
I got on tiptoe and kissed Dax on his lips. At first, he was caught off guard but then began responding with his own lips. I started moving us towards the bed while continuing to kiss him passionately.
