Chapter 43: Where Am I?
I hoped that what had happened earlier had been a nightmare. I slowly opened my eyes; when I saw that I wasn’t in my bed at the mansion, I knew that it had to be real.
I felt rope tied around my wrists and ankles and could feel the coolness of the metal from the chair. There was even a piece of cloth covering my mouth. I felt the urge to scream but knew it was pointless. Nobody would be able to hear my cries for help.
This was the worst possible situation I could’ve been in. I never imagined that this scenario would happen to me. How had I gotten caught up in this?
Maybe I shouldn’t have been so careless earlier. I wished I wouldn’t have been walking in that shady area. I knew better than that, but it was too late to blame myself for what had already gone down.
I tried to get a sense of where I was by looking around the room. I didn’t want to lose all of my hope for getting out of here.
It was too dark to see anything to give away where those men had taken me. The one lightbulb constantly flickered as if it was fighting to stay on. There weren’t any windows within the room to look out either.
Of course, my abductors would take me somewhere where I couldn’t tell where it was. These people were really thinking every aspect of this through. They wanted to get away with this and make sure no one could find me.
Getting out of the restraints would do nothing without knowing where I was. If I could escape from them that is. For all I knew, I could have been far from the city and had no way of returning to the mansion.
I wondered if Dax had noticed that I hadn’t returned. I prayed that he would figure out that something was wrong. He normally came through for me, but this was different than previous times.
What if I was in another country? Dax would definitely not find me.
It was so terrifying to be trapped in a room. I couldn’t tell how long I had been in here.
I had a feeling that the CEO who had poisoned me had made someone else kidnap me. It made perfect sense, so that Dax would have to give up his position. He'd have no other options to be able to save me. A CEO wouldn't want money.
When I attempted to get free from the restraints, it was of no use. I wriggled around in them for a good while, but none of them were loosening. They were too tightly bound on me, and I wouldn’t keep trying or I’d hurt myself.
I had to be considerate of the baby I was carrying. I didn’t want to put the baby more at risk than we already were.
Who knew if these creeps would try to harm me? More fear crept into me at the thought of them attacking me.
Suddenly, I realized something interesting. I hadn’t seen anyone keeping watch of me, not even from a distance. I would’ve thought that someone would be observing my every move. I bet they had a camera set up somewhere in the room to watch from a different area.
I wasn’t sure what they were planning but had to prepare to face my captors. I didn’t want them to know that I was already very scared. They wouldn’t get the reaction they were hoping for when I saw them.
After an undeterminable amount of time passed, there was a strange man that walked into the room. He had a pinstriped hat and suit with expensive looking dress shoes on. His hair was slicked back and full of mousse.
Who was he and why did he come alone? The man was keeping an eye on me as he got closer to me. It really made my heart sink and creeped me out.
As he was about a foot away, he gave me a sinister smile. Every part of me wanted to run away. I didn’t know what he was planning on doing to me. I had to prepare myself for the worst.
He menacingly said, “I told that b*tch to pay me or else. I’m sure your sister is going to see that I meant business now that I have you. She needs to give me my money in twenty-four hours, or you’re going to pay with your life.”
