Chapter 12 Let's Talk in Bed

Claire’s POV:

Back home, I prepared some fruit and brought it over, before sitting down next to Colin. The man was engrossed in his phone.

I peered over curiously, expecting a game, but instead, he was browsing a foreign website filled with images of well-dressed individuals who all looked to be successful.

I was momentarily taken aback, and just then, Colin suddenly turned his head. Close as I was, I nearly bumped noses with him, and we stared at each other in stunned silence. A flush spread across my face, and my heart thumped wildly.

"What's the matter?" Colin murmured.

"No...Nothing," I stammered awkwardly, sitting down beside him, hands nervously clasped together, as I attempted to make light conversation with a laugh, "You're reading the news?"

"Yes, financial news."

"You understand that?"

Colin turned to me again, his eagle-like eyes holding a mocking mirth. "What do you think someone who's been in fights and in jail should understand?"

"I didn't mean that!" My face turned a deeper shade of red. "I'm just surprised, I didn't expect you to know so much."

The atmosphere fell silent, heavy with unspoken awkwardness. I felt nervous, but when I noticed Colin's composed demeanor, I realized how unnecessary my nervousness was. We were legally married yet everything felt so uncomfortable, even basic conversation seemed to die.

I slapped my forehead, silently chastising myself, for my own ineptitude. He noticed this small gesture. A faint smile crossed Colin's lips; he put down his phone and began to eat the fruit with a fork, casually asking, "Is there something you want to tell me?"

I responded with a "Hmm," followed by a shake of my head, "No, nothing."

"Oh," Colin looked at me, "is there enough money at home?"

"Why ask all of a sudden?" I blurted out.

"Just making conversation," Colin’s voice was even.

"Isn't that what other couples talk about? The trivial matters of home." I bit my lip, remaining silent.

"Perhaps... we could talk somewhere else?" Colin looked towards the bedroom, his low voice imbued with a touch of suggestiveness, his warm breath slowly closing in on me. As I raised my eyes to meet his deep ones, it seemed as if sparks were flying within them.

I moved to the side but was immediately captured by Colin's strong arm, around my waist, and I found myself crashing into his embrace. I felt my entire body stiffen. Colin's gaze grew increasingly intense. His hand wrapped around my waist tightened, yet he made no further move.

Colin's perspective:

I watched her; she had her eyes tightly shut, trying hard to relax, but her trembling frame betrayed her nervousness, as she thought of being with a man for the first time. Suddenly, a wave of pity washed over me.

Werewolf movements can be a lot rougher than those of a normal human male, and I didn’t want to have sex under these circumstances. Sex should happen naturally, to be truly beautiful, and romantic. Besides, she’s not the Moon Goddess' mate for me; she's a human girl.

But my heart seemed to disagree; I caught the sweet scent from her body, like delicious candy, her beautiful eyes, and her sexy figure. She was a considerable temptation for me.

"You must be tired today," I heard my own husky voice, "You should go to be and rest."

I quickly walked into the bathroom, turned on the faucet, and allowed the cold water to soften the arousal in my lower body.

After the shower, I saw that she had already entered the room, talking to herself while holding a jewelry box, a playful look in the corners of her eyes and brows. A smile played on my lips, and a warm feeling crossed my mind; I suddenly found this human woman very charming.

I glanced at my phone and saw a message from Kevin. ‘The matter with the Watson family has been settled.’

‘Not bad, I'll reward you later.’ I hadn’t expected Kevin to finish the task so quickly. Feeling pleased, I sent a reply.

Kevin responded immediately. ‘Seems like you had a fun night. This is the first time I've ever received such a long message from you.’
