Chapter 37 I Have a Plan

Claire's POV

I approached slowly from the sidelines while recording. Standing beside me, Colin had a stick resting on his shoulder, exuding an imposing presence.

I had captured compelling evidence of the bullying, and these high schoolers, being over sixteen, were legally accountable for their actions.

By submitting this evidence to the authorities and pressing charges, these students would be permanently marked by their misconduct.

My cool gaze swept over them.

"You're not just bullying Eddie, are you?" I spoke deliberately. "I've called the police. They'll investigate and uncover everything."

I had everything under control.

The police took them away and followed standard interrogation procedures; the bullies confessed, their guilt was affirmed, and a satisfying outcome swiftly followed.

I had finally avenged Eddie properly.

Colin's POV

"Alpha Colin, your wife is quite impressive," Dennis said, giving a thumbs-up after hearing about the incident through his friends at the police station.

"Claire is calmer than you are in a pinch, and she knows the law well. That was a smart move!"

I offered a slight smile.
Since our marriage, Claire had continuously surprised me, though I can't claim any credit this time—after all, it was I who took down those high schoolers.

Knowing Claire's character, she'd surely reward me somehow, at least by cooking a splendid meal.

Yet, Claire showed no such intentions. And lately, I've felt a distinct coolness from her toward me.

She stopped bringing up the idea of me going back to my room to sleep.

I had hinted several times; with Claire's intelligence, she definitely understood what I was getting at, yet she feigned confusion right in front of me, dismissing the issue with various excuses!

And so, to this day, I'm still sleeping on the couch...

I let out a deep sigh, furrowing my brows and falling into deep thought, so much so that I failed to notice the cigarette between my fingers nearly burning my hand.

"Hey, Alpha Colin!" Kevin, quick as ever, snatched the cigarette from me.

I blinked, suddenly snapping out of my reverie.

"What's going on? This is the first time I've seen you with such a vacant expression," Kevin said with surprise in his eyes, waving a hand in front of my face.

"Oh, and there's news from the Rock pack again. Your Uncle Wesley brought it up with your grandfather; they're planning to choose a Luna for you! They say that since the Moon Goddess hasn't blessed you with a mate for so long, they're really worried you'll end up childless, and someone else might snatch away the Alpha position."

My eyes darkened, and I crushed the cigarette butt in the ashtray with force.

"Your family, they're all pretty troublesome," Dennis expressed his concern. "If one day you go back, what about Claire..."

"Claire won't come with me," I said quietly. "We're from two different worlds; it's not possible for us to be together."

Dennis and Kevin were both taken aback, then in unison, they asked, "We thought you liked Claire. Even a fool could see that. Don't deceive yourself with these excuses. Claire has already taken root in your heart. When it comes to the day you have to separate, to rip Claire out of your heart entirely... I don’t know how you'd handle that pain."

I grew increasingly agitated. Having a Luna wasn't necessarily a good thing for me, and Claire, being human, wouldn't be able to defend herself well in the werewolf world.
This matter needed further planning.

I looked at Dennis and Kevin, "Do you guys know a good gynecologist?"

Both of them gaped at me, as if they each had an egg stuck in their throat.

"What... what?" Kevin wanted to laugh but dared not to, eyeing me up and down before raising an eyebrow in disbelief, "Alpha Colin, that's impressive! Claire's pregnant already? I'm really curious what a child between a human and a werewolf would look like!"

I scowled and rolled my eyes.

Dennis frowned, "Can’t you let Alpha Colin finish speaking?"

I cleared my throat softly, speaking in a steady tone, "I was just asking for a doctor to discuss what’s good for a human woman’s health. During the full moon, the she-wolves get weary due to their heat and the pack doctors give them some pills to help."

At this, Kevin couldn't hold back anymore and burst into laughter, spewing brandy in all directions. Dennis looked at him as if he were an idiot, shaking his head.

My face had grown increasingly dark these days, and the human woman's looks sometimes question me, flickering with a fleeting despondency, her whole being riddled with anxiety. I simply couldn’t fathom which of my words went astray or what misunderstanding I may have caused her.

I've heard it's common for human women to experience emotional highs and lows around their menstrual cycle. Could Claire's standoffish behavior be due to her period? That thought seemed to make things clearer.

I've witnessed Claire in pain during her period, curled up in bed, her face pale and covered in cold sweat. Though I do not understand this pain, I wish to provide some comfort.

"If you do not know any doctors knowledgeable in these matters, I will ask someone else," I said indifferently to the two before me.

Kevin slapped his hand on his shoulder, chuckling and puffing his chest out, "Why ask someone else, Alpha Colin? I'm the expert!"

He leaned in closer, lowering his voice as if sharing a secret, "I have a remedy for you... Just get Claire to use it, and I guarantee it'll fill her with more energy than a tiger!"
