Chapter 28 Turns Out My Wife is So Clever

Claire's POV:

Colin's gaze was resolute, and he gave me a tender smile. Then he turned to look at Peter, his expression turning fiercely stern, as if his gaze were a blade sealing Peter's throat.

The hotel security was about to step forward but was repelled by Colin's chilling stare. Peter, evidently intimidated by Colin's commanding presence, trembled all over.

"Who... who are you?" he managed to get up from the ground, standing unsteadily. "What on earth kind of person are you? How dare you hit me in broad daylight? I..."

Colin didn't bother with idle talk. He simply strode forward, grabbed the man by the collar from behind, and dragged him to the hotel's back courtyard. Worried Colin might be at a disadvantage, I quickly followed him.

Before I had even reached the courtyard, I heard a series of ghostlike wails and pleas for mercy. Peter was beaten to a pulp, his face swollen and blue. He knelt on the ground, face in his hands, while Colin kicked him squarely in the chest.

Before Peter could straighten up, Colin slammed his head down, ruthlessly pinning half of his face beneath his foot.

Peter screamed even louder, "Sir! I was wrong, I was wrong! I won't do it again!"

"Stay away from her in the future," said Colin, his voice cold and stern. "If I ever see you harassing my wife again, I won't let you off so easily!"

Peter's eyes widened in shock, wriggling on the ground like a worm, his jaw nearly dislocated under Colin's foot. Colin looked down, his gaze shifting to the wet patch spreading around Peter's crotch. He snorted in disgust, lifting his foot and feeling nothing but revulsion.

"Get lost!"

Peter scrambled away, humiliated and in pain, nearly crashing into me. I jumped at his pitiful state, thinking a fierce battle had occurred, and quickly checked if Colin was injured.

But Colin, as if nothing had happened, nonchalantly dusted off his sleeves and walked out of the courtyard. Tears welled up in my eyes, but a relieved smile spread across my face as I burrowed into his embrace.

"Did I... cause you any trouble?" Colin asked quietly. "I hit your boss." I shook my head vigorously.

"I only know how to fight," said Colin, chuckling softly as he stroked my hair. "You'll have to get used to it."

Our eyes met, and we laughed heartily together, understanding each other perfectly.

He patted my head and said, "There is another option, quit the job. It doesn't pay well and it's tough. Now that you've clashed with your boss, he might make things even harder for you."

"No, he won't," I said with a sly smile.

Colin paused, only to see me pull out a small recording pen from my pocket, flipping the switch. The recent conversation played back clearly.

‘You're much better than that stinking woman, Sarah! Claire, as long as you're with me, I'll give you everything but the title. Claire, I'll introduce more clients to you, as long as you make me happy.’

After a few seconds of listening, Colin's gaze deepened as he looked at me.

Colin's perspective:

Half an hour earlier, Kevin had called me, informing me that Claire had been brought to the hotel by Peter. Kevin had happened to witness the scene.

"Alpha Colin, I was meeting with someone at the hotel for business, and I saw Claire again. It turns out she can speak French too, quite the surprise. The two French men were quite polite, except for the one sitting next to her, he looked downright sleazy, with his hand always resting on the back of her chair!”

"Send me the address." I demanded, and Kevin promptly sent me the location.

After dealing with Peter, I then realized that Claire had secretly recorded everything that had just happened. Even under such unfortunate circumstances, she had remained incredibly composed, not panicking at all, and even had the foresight to keep evidence of the harassment.

With this evidence, Peter wouldn't dare to make a move against her so easily. Once the evidence was laid out, Peter would not only be disgraced, but having offended Sarah as well, he'll likely find no foothold for himself in the entire industry.

"Ha, turns out my wife is so clever!" I couldn't help but praise her.

Claire displayed a triumphant smile, lifted her chin with a light chuckle and said, "Of course!"

"But who's Claire? Isn't your name Hailey?" Claire's face turned pale, and she nearly collapsed, her legs giving way under her. I wrapped my arms around her waist and couldn't help but laugh. I saw the look of sheer guilt in Claire's eyes.

"This..." She racked her brain to come up with an answer, "My name is Hailey, Claire is my nickname."

"How would that man know your nickname?" I didn't let Claire off lightly. Claire's lips were tightly pressed, her earlobes as red as cherries, and they felt slightly warm.

"I... I don't know where he heard it from." I listened as Claire continued to weave her story, "We were at the same university before, he might have heard my friends calling me that, so he started doing the same.”

“Anyway, the guy is just insane, a freak! Honey, you did a great job today!" She timidly smiled at me, "Tonight I'll make some roasted ribs for you, and pan-fried salmon as well, as a special treat!"

I smiled and didn't continue the interrogation. I held Claire in my arms and we left the hotel together.
