♥Chapter 55♥

Lucas Morelli.

''Go'' orders our father with a serious expression. We looked at him, taking in the weight of his words. ''I will send their house address to you on the way. I love you, children.

''We love you too, dad'' we chorused, the feeling of parting becoming palpable.

We hugged each other tightly, a last show of affection before we moved on. We get into our car, and I start it, feeling the weight of responsibility on my shoulders. Luan has already called our private driver, who will wait for us at the airport for the jet.

''Ready, Lucas? '' Luan asks, the tone of her voice revealing a mixture of anxiety and determination. I look at him and smile slightly, trying to convey a little courage.

''If it's to die fighting, so be it,'' I say, with a resolute tone. Luan nods, agreeing with the decision made.

The drive to the airport is smooth, and the message with Enzo's home address arrives without any problems. As soon as we arrived, we got out of the car, grabbed our bags, and headed towards the jet.

''Good evening, my young gentlemen'' Vinícius greets us with a professional smile, his face calm despite the situation.

''Good evening, Vinícius'' we replied in unison, our voices echoing tiredness and determination.

''Where does our journey go? '' he asks, curious.

Luan and I looked at each other before responding.

''Russia! '' we say together, the intensity of our words making it clear how committed we are to the mission.

''Yes, sir,'' Vinícius confirms, and we board the jet. We sit in the seats, putting on our seat belts, and I intertwine my fingers with Luan's. We feel the jet move and then take off.

Even with the imminent risk of death, the determination to find Enzo gives us strength. The idea of failing is not an option.

07:00 ''Russia.

The jet lands smoothly, and we immediately grab our bags and get out. The coldness of the Russian air contrasts with the heat of our anxiety.

''You can come back, Vinicius. I think our stay here might take a while,'' Luan says, addressing the driver. Vinícius nods understandingly.

''Right, young sir. Have a good stay.

''Thank you'' we replied, and soon we started to leave the airport.

'' And now? '' I ask, my gaze lost in the vastness of the unknown. Luan shrugs, uncertainty evident on her face.

''I don't know,'' he replies, his voice heavy with discouragement.

Suddenly, we felt two threatening presences behind us and an icy cold on our backs.

''You two come with us. And if they try anything, they will die'' says an authoritative voice. We waved in silence, not having the courage to protest.

We were roughly shoved into a black van. Men's lack of delicacy is a sure sign that we are in trouble.

''We barely arrived, and we were already captured'' Luan whispers to me, her voice low and tense. I nod in agreement, my heart racing with tension.

The men remain silent, just like us, creating a heavy and charged atmosphere.

When we got out of the van, we came across a huge warehouse. We enter and are guided to a basement. One of the men opens the door and straps us into chairs, tying our wrists with tight ropes.

''The bosses will arrive soon and decide what to do with you,'' says the man before closing the door behind him, leaving us in a gloomy environment.

We let out a collective sigh, observing the place. The sight of blood and a torture table nearby are enough to intensify our apprehension.

''Yeah, our mission seems to have failed,'' Luan comments, a nervous laugh escaping her lips. ''To be honest, I'm not even scared of dying.

I smile lightly, finding some comfort in Luan's bravery.

''Neither do I,'' I say, looking at him with a mix of sadness and affection. ''I love you, brother.

''And I love you too,'' he replies, the hug between us offering a small sense of security.

We don't know how long we spent there, immersed in pain and expectation. The door opens, and the D'Angelo's enter, accompanied by Alex. Elijah's gaze is cold and unforgiving.

''What did I say about stepping here? '' he asks with an icy tone.

''We were going to die,'' we responded in unison, the reality of our situation clear in our voices.

''And why did you come? '' Dante questions, his expression stern.

''We wanted to talk to Enzo,'' I say, my voice full of despair and a touch of determination. The three men stare at us seriously, their expressions stern and unforgiving.

''Our son wants nothing to do with you anymore! '' growled Elijah, his voice thick with anger. ''You guys hurt him a lot!

''We know that, sir'' Luan replies, her voice shaky but firm. ''We were idiots for not telling Enzo that we left to find him, but we were afraid that he would stray even further. We love your son so much, and that's why we're here. We don't care about the risk of dying, sir.

''If I'm going to see him for the last time, so be it,'' I said, completing Luan's sentence, my heart tight with anguish.

''Our son hasn't eaten since yesterday, since we got here. He only sleeps and cries because of you! '' Elijah continues, irritation evident in his tone.

''We're sorry about this, sir,'' we say in unison, our voices filled with regret. ''We love your son more than anything, and that will never change. We were wrong to hide information from him, and we know it. But please allow us to speak to Enzo one last time. Please.

''Do you guys really think we are going to let you see our son? They're idiots'' says Dante, the coldness in his gaze unshakable.

''Please, if you have to die later, so be it'' we insisted. ''But allow us to speak to Enzo, please, sir Elijah. Please.

''Are you willing to give your lives to see him? '' Dante asks, his tone challenging.

''Yes'' we answered without hesitation, our determination clear. ''We love your son, we recognize that we made a serious mistake with him, and that is something we admit. We just want to see him and try to get his forgiveness. If we don't succeed, they could kill us; we don't care about that. Your son is the only reason we are still alive. Without it, we don't care about being dead.

The three continue to watch us, their expressions implacable.

''A chance'' says Dante, with a tone of concession. ''If Enzo doesn't forgive them, say goodbye to your lives.

''Thank you, sir'' we thanked in unison, relieved by the possibility of one last meeting.

Alex approaches and, with a precise movement, cuts the ropes that bind us.

''Come on,'' he says, and we scramble to our feet.

We follow Alex out of the basement, which exudes an unbearable smell, and past the henchmen who watch us with indifferent looks. We left the warehouse, feeling the biting cold of the Russian air on our faces.

''Get in the car'' they order, and we head towards the vehicle.

We get into the car, and Alex and Dante get in with the same coolness. Soon, Dante starts, and the car starts moving towards the D'Angelo's' house.

As the car moves forward, my mind is filled with a single hope: that Enzo can forgive us. The weight of bad decisions, the suffering we cause, and the chance we still have to make things right hang over us like a shadow. I hope that at least we can find a little redemption and ease the pain we have caused.
