♥ Chapter 8♥
Enzo D'Angelo.
''Get the fuck off me!'' I shout, trying to break free from the twins who are holding me.
''Calm down, darling,'' Luan murmurs, trying to reassure me.
''That way you'll kill him,'' Lucas adds, their voices sounding like an echo in my head.
' That's my intention! '' I growl, struggling to get free.
''Calm down, baby. '' Luan repeats, whispering softly in my ear.
An unexpected shiver runs through my body, and my mind is confused. What do you mean, my skin crawls because of this boy? It doesn't make sense!
''Get off me, you bastards!'' I keep shouting, but they both laugh, as if they find my struggle funny.
Just then, the office door opens, and my family, along with his, come out. Christopher, with a stern expression, looks at all of us, especially Fred, who is almost unconscious on the floor.
''What's going on here? '' he asks, his voice full of authority.
''That boy almost killed Fred!'' the fake blonde exclaims, fake tears streaming down her face as she points at me.
'' And I would if those idiots didn't stop me! '' I reply, still trying to get loose.
''Enzo!'' My mother looks at me shocked, her voice full of concern and disbelief.
''It wasn't his fault, Mrs. D'Angelo,'' Lucas began, his tone calm.
''Fred insulted you, and your son only defended you,'' Luan adds, just as calmly.
Don't these two know how to talk like normal people?
''Insulted? '' My father, Elijah, asks, with a serious look fixed on Fred, who is still lying on the floor, moaning in pain.
The atmosphere becomes tense, as if the air is about to explode with the weight of the words that have been said and those that remain unsaid. The room is filled with an oppressive silence, interrupted only by Fred's heavy breathing and the nervous whispers of the others.
My mind is racing, processing everything that has happened. Anger still throbs in my veins, but a part of me is beginning to realize the gravity of the situation. The presence of my parents only heightens my awareness of the trouble I've gotten myself into.
'' Yes, he's been badmouthing your wife just because she's married to two men. '' says Luan, with a serious expression.
His father nods and approaches the boy's body, calmly checking his pulse.
''His pulse is very weak. If we don't take him to the hospital now, he's going to die right here,'' he observes, his eyes turning to my parents. ''What's your decision? He insulted your wife, so it's your choice: save him or not.
I'm stunned by the coldness of the situation, as are my brother and mother.
''Him die. As well as insulting my wife, he pushed my son into the pool,'' says Papa Elijah, without hesitation, casting a firm glance at the other two, who are cowering on the sofa.
'' Well done. Gustavo!” The twins' father's voice resounds through the room, making me shudder. Soon, Gustavo appears.
He is a tall man with an imposing presence.
“Yes, capo?” he replies in Italian, tilting his head slightly.
''Take Fred away from here and put him out of his misery,'' orders Christopher, without looking away. Then he points to the other two: ''And the two of them too.
'' Please, Mr. Christopher, have mercy on us! '' pleads the fake blonde, tears streaming down her face.
'' Mercy? You came to my house, pushed my friends' son into the pool, and even allowed Fred to insult their wife. There will be no mercy,” Christopher replies with cutting coldness.
The two of them cast desperate glances at the twins, who are still holding me, feeling the panic rising.
''Luan, Lucas, please, we're friends! '' pleads the man, his voice laden with desperation.
''Friends?'' the twins ask in unison. ''You made a serious mistake, and now you're going to pay for it. We don't care what happens to you two.
They continue to plead, but Gustavo is already approaching Fred, who is dying on the floor. With ease, he lifts him onto his shoulders, takes his gun out of the holster at his waist, and points it at the two of them.
''Move quickly before I shoot,'' Gustavo orders. The two of them start to leave, crying.
Christopher looks at me with a slight smile on his lips.
''Forgive me for that, Enzo. It won't happen again.
This family is worse than mine, I think, feeling my stomach turn.
''Hmm.'' Is that all I can manage to say? I'm still in shock.
Christopher continues to watch me and then smiles again.
''I see you three are getting along well. '' he comments, noticing that I'm still in the twins' arms.
''Let me go now! '' I demand, feeling my face burn with anger. They laugh, but let me go—not before each kissing my cheek, which makes me even more surprised.
''We have to sort something out at college, Dad. We'll be back soon,'' they say together, leaving the room and leaving me static in my seat.
What the fuck was that? I try to process what has just happened, but everything seems like a blur.
I look around and see everyone in the room watching me with surprised expressions, except Christopher and his wife, who seem unperturbed.
''I'm going to kill your children,'' I say angrily as I clean up the spot where the twins kissed me.
Christopher just laughs.
''You can try. '' he replies, leaving the room with his wife, as if nothing had happened.
I turn my gaze to my family, who are still looking at me seriously.
''Is it just me, or are these twins interested in you, Enzo?'' asks Alex, with a teasing tone of voice.
'' What? Interested in me? You're crazy, Alex. I'm sure they're just picking on me,'' I reply, trying to dismiss the absurd idea.
''Little brother, I don't think they're just picking on you. '' says Klaus, looking at me with a wry smile.
''I don't give a damn about the two of them. If they come near me again, I'll beat them up. '' I grumble, turning my back on them and heading for my room.
How can they even suggest that the twins are interested in me? Ah, fuck you all.
I close the bedroom door tightly, trying to clear away the tumult of thoughts that is tormenting me. Why does everything have to be like this? I need to find a way of dealing with it—not letting these people disturb my peace. But for now, all I can think about is how much I hate this situation.
