Chapter 51 She Was Almost Assaulted

After a good night's sleep, Emily was feeling a lot better.

She saw John off in the evening, then dashed out again around 9:30 PM, making it to Moonlit Tavern just before 10 PM.

Tonight, Emily had a shift in the private rooms.

Honestly, the private rooms were a step up from being outside; at least they weren't as loud. The guests usually had a hostess on their arm and didn't pay much attention to waitresses like her. Sometimes, if they were in a good mood, they'd even throw a tip her way.

Emily had just reached the manager's office to get her room assignment for the night when she noticed someone was already inside.

She recognized the person; it was one of the hostesses, not a waitress like her. Her name was Lily Martin.

"Can't someone else go? I really don't want to deal with that fat guy again. He's gross," Lily complained, clearly not happy, as she argued with Christopher Taylor.

"Lily, you work here, so you gotta follow the rules. Plus, Andrew Anderson specifically asked for you and tipped well," Christopher replied.

Lily was still putting up a fight when Emily walked in, and Christopher immediately turned to her, "And you, I don't know how Mr. Anderson knows you, but he specifically requested you too. Don't drag your feet; you two need to get moving. If you upset Mr. Anderson, you can kiss your job at Moonlit Tavern goodbye."

The pay for servers and hostesses at Moonlit Tavern was some of the best in Mist Isle City, and the management was top-notch. If a guest harassed a server, it was handled right away. As for the hostesses, they were there to keep guests company, and minor issues were tolerated. If anyone tried to force them, Moonlit Tavern would step in directly.

Even though Lily was reluctant, she grabbed the drinks and led Emily to the room.

"Be smart in there. Andrew can be a real jerk. If anything goes down, get out fast. I can't help you if things get serious, got it?" Lily warned sternly at the door of the private room.

Lily's tone wasn't great, but Emily felt a bit of warmth in her heart.

They knocked on the door and then walked in.

Three men were sitting inside. Two of them seemed normal, but one was really fat, probably the Andrew Lily had mentioned.

Emily kept her head down and stood by the door.

Lily was wearing the specially designed uniform of Moonlit Tavern, which showed off her attractive figure. She should have been more eye-catching than Emily, but Emily felt the men's eyes were subtly on her.

Lily walked towards Andrew, but a guy next to Andrew spoke up, annoyed, "I paid for this. Why are you going to him? Come over here and drink with me!"

'So it wasn't Andrew? He didn't ask for a hostess?' Lily was surprised but obediently walked towards the guy.

The men had been drinking quite a bit.

As Emily was half-squatting to pour Andrew a drink, he suddenly grabbed her wrist, causing the drink to spill all over the table.

Startled, Emily let out a scream.

"What's with the screaming?" Andrew slurred, reeking of alcohol, and picked up a half-full glass. "Drink this, and I'll pay you!"

"Sir, I can't drink. I'm sorry," Emily stammered, trying to pull away, but Andrew's grip was like a vice.

"Can't drink? Then how about a kiss?" With a rough yank, Andrew pulled Emily, making her stumble and fall onto the couch.

Emily tried to back away, forcing a smile. "Mr. Anderson, I'm just a waitress. How about I ask Mr. Taylor to get you a hostess?"

Lily jumped in, forcing a smile and sitting down to mediate. "Exactly, Mr. Anderson. What's the fun in a waitress? How about I get you another hostess?"

Andrew slapped Lily hard. "Get lost!"

Lily crashed onto the coffee table, her head bleeding.

Andrew was out of control, daring to hitting in Moonlit Tavern.

Seeing she couldn't save Emily, Lily made a quick decision and bolted out the door.

Andrew and the other two men ignored her, mocking Emily, "Someone paid me to rape you. Otherwise, I wouldn't even look at an ugly woman like you!"

"No, please! Don't!" Emily pleaded.

The three men stopped pretending and started to strip Emily.

"Look at that, her loose clothes hid a nice body. Today is a good day," Andrew said, grinning lecherously at the other two.

There was no way Emily could fend off three men. They toyed with her, about to strip her completely.

Emily struggled desperately but couldn't escape. Just as she was about to lose hope, the door to Moonlit Tavern was kicked open from the outside.

The three men, drunk, didn't pay attention, but Emily, in her panic, heard the noise and cried out for help, "Help me, please! Help me!"

In the next second, Andrew and the other two men were kicked to the ground. Just as they were about to curse, they looked up and fell silent.

James stood in front of Emily, his face full of rage, his clenched fists cracking.

James had been socializing at Moonlit Tavern and had gone to the restroom when he saw Lily running out in a panic, her face marked and clothes disheveled. He stopped her out of curiosity.

Moonlit Tavern was his friend's business, and the rule was that no one could touch the girls working there.

James stopped Lily, who recognized him and cried out, "Mr. Smith! Mr. Smith! In that room! Mr. Anderson and the others are trying to hurt my friend Emily. Please save her!"

Lily and Emily had only known each other for a few days as colleagues, but she couldn't stand by and do nothing. In this place, rules had to be strictly followed, or it would be the girls who suffered.

"Say that again, who?" Hearing Emily's name, James grabbed Lily's neck and shouted.

Lily didn't expect such a strong reaction and, with a flushed face, repeated, "It's Emily."
