Chapter 54 Olivia, You Need to Pay More

Andrew called Olivia and said, "Olivia, we've been through hell. The money you promised needs to be doubled now."

"You didn't do a good job, and you still want more money?" Olivia snapped.

Andrew chuckled, "Olivia, you can't even keep your fiancé in check, letting him defend someone else, and you want to blame us? Your personal issues aren't my problem. I need more money. If you don't want your dirty laundry aired, just pay up."

Olivia's knuckles turned white as she gripped the phone. Hiring Andrew had already cost her a fortune. James had given her a bank card, and she had spent quite a bit from it. If she spent more, it might catch James's attention.

"What if you spread it? If I go down, you all are going to jail!" Olivia threatened.

"Jail? I'm not scared of jail, Olivia. If my company doesn't bounce back, I've got nothing to lose. At worst, we'll all go down together." Andrew leaned against the hospital bed, his face twisted in anger.

Olivia had been foolish enough to reveal her identity when hiring Andrew, and now she wanted to turn the tables and threaten him.

After a long silence, Olivia finally caved. "Fine. How much do you want? I'll pay."

"Another five million dollars," Andrew demanded.

Back at the Smith Villa, Olivia hurled her phone to the ground with all her might. Still not satisfied, she went on a rampage, smashing everything in the room.

Exhausted, Olivia sat on the edge of the bed, grinding her teeth. "Emily, why are you so damn lucky?"

Those three men were all hired by Olivia. Andrew's company was broke, and Olivia had promised him a hefty sum to assault Emily. Desperate for money, Andrew kept his mouth shut even after getting beaten up.

But Olivia never expected James to show up just in time to save Emily, rekindling their involvement.

Olivia seethed with resentment.

After a while, Olivia got up reluctantly and started packing the gifts James had given her since returning to the country. James had been very generous, buying her bags and jewelry worth millions without a second thought.

To pay Andrew, Olivia couldn't use the money in the bank card anymore, but she could sell some of the jewelry to raise the five million dollars. But letting Emily off so easily was something she couldn't stomach.

Olivia sat in front of her computer for a long time before making another call. "Joseph, I need your help."

"Sure, Olivia," a playful male voice answered.

Olivia lowered her eyes, her face looking even more sinister under the blue light of the computer. "I want to destroy Emily's reputation so she can never recover!"

In her apartment, Emily struggled to get back to bed, curling up and unable to move. She took the next day off; her body was covered with marks left by James, and she was too sore and weak to go to work.

Turning off her phone, Emily felt her eyes were incredibly dry. She fell into a deep sleep and woke up around noon.

Groggily, Emily got up and checked her phone, realizing John had sent her a ton of messages and made a bunch of calls.

Even Evelyn, who had recently added her as a friend, had sent loads of messages and made several voice calls.

Emily was momentarily confused.

Before she could figure it out, Evelyn called her again.

Emily pressed the answer button and heard a worried voice on the other end, "You finally answered. Do you know what's going on? You didn't reply to messages or answer calls. I almost thought something happened to you."

"I just woke up. What happened?" Emily had no idea what Evelyn was talking about.

"Check the trending list, quick," Evelyn said.

Emily opened the web page on her phone and saw the top headline.

#SmithFamilyCEO'sEx-WifeAllegedlyHiresOverseasToAssaultOlivia! Post-DivorceHarassmentToForceMarriageThroughPregnancy!

'How did Olivia's made-up stories and my pregnancy news make it to the trending list?' Emily wondered as her heart sank, her fingers trembling as she clicked on the trending content.

She saw the so-called witness video and forged evidence that James had shown her before, now prominently displayed.

Emily had been portrayed by internet users as a scheming and malicious woman.

As Emily read, Evelyn's voice continued on the phone, "Emily, I heard about what happened last night from a friend. It scared me to death. Luckily, Mr. Smith was there to help you. But I didn't realize you are Mr. Smith's ex-wife? Never mind. That's not important. I know you're not that kind of person. Who exactly is this Olivia, and what grudge do you have with her? You need to sort this out. I have friends in social media marketing. If you have any evidence to fight back, give it to me, and I'll help you clear your name. People online just love to talk nonsense. Don't take their words to heart. Stay at home for the next few days, okay?"

Evelyn gave a lot of advice over the phone.

Just as Evelyn was about to say more, she saw that Emily had already hung up.

Evelyn looked worriedly at the dark screen and sighed, wondering if Emily could get through this. She had met Emily twice, and such a fragile woman didn't seem as malicious as the internet portrayed.

Emily hung up because John's call had come through.

Hearing her breathing, John visibly relaxed, "Emily, don't be sad. I'm on my way to your apartment."

John had been calling Emily all morning with no answer. Worried, he even went to her workplace to look for her but couldn't find her, so he drove to her home.

"Don't come." After hearing Evelyn's words and seeing the trending content, Emily finally understood what was happening. Her face turned even paler, and her body began to tremble.

"John, please, don't come. I want to be alone for a while." Emily's voice was hoarse and fragile.

John slammed on the brakes. He closed his eyes and lowered his head in defeat. "Okay."
