Chapter 64 Is it Really that Easy to Enter the Smith Family's House?

That young woman was Olivia. She decked out in designer clothes, makeup on point, and a mischievous glint in her eyes.

"Mom, I heard Emily and James were here, so I rushed over to see you all together," Grace said, smiling, but her eyes were locked on Emily.

'What's Olivia doing here? Why would Grace bring her? Doesn't she know Sophia can't stand Olivia?' Emily thought.

Sure enough, Sophia's warm expression turned puzzled when she saw Olivia, and then her smile vanished.

Olivia's presence made Emily uneasy.

James was also taken aback, shooting Grace a dark look. He liked Olivia and wanted Sophia to accept her, but now wasn't the time.

"Mom, Olivia, what are you doing here?" James asked, looking uncomfortable as he approached them.

Olivia, looking all pitiful, hid behind Grace.

Grace gave her a disappointed look and snorted, "Olivia's practically my goddaughter now. What's wrong with bringing her to see Sophia? There were misunderstandings back then."

Then Grace shot a meaningful glance at Emily and said, "If Emily can come, why can't Olivia?"

Emily felt embarrassed under her gaze and was about to say something when Sophia, with a stern face, cut in harshly, "Emily is James's wife. Who is Olivia? It's not that easy to be part of the Smith family."

Sophia was standing up for Emily.

Grace didn't expect Sophia to be so blunt and felt a bit awkward. But knowing Sophia for years, she quickly regained her composure and smiled, "I heard Emily and James came to see you, so I thought I'd bring Olivia too. Olivia had her reasons back then. It was between her and James, and now that she's back, I brought her to see you. After all, she almost became part of our family."

Olivia stepped forward weakly and said, "I just came to see you and Michael. It was my fault back then. I shouldn't have taken James away so willfully. Please forgive me for not coming back all these years."

"Why are you here to see me? The past is the past. Since we didn't become a family, what do you have to do with me now? You don't need to apologize to me," Sophia said coldly. "Emily can take care of Michael. It's not your place to intervene."

Grace turned and glared at James, while Olivia looked at him with teary eyes.

James felt irritated, thinking, 'Why is Olivia with Mom? Didn't Mom dislike Olivia? Why are they together now?'

James had brought Emily to comfort Sophia, but Grace brought Olivia to stir things up.

Even though James still had feelings for Olivia, he couldn't help but think she was being unreasonable.

But the past was indeed Sophia's fault towards Olivia, and he couldn't ignore it. James bit his lip, glanced at Emily, and forced a smile, "Grandma, since Olivia's here, let's have dinner together. As for all the messes back then, we both had our faults."

His words were vague.

Olivia, feeling supported by James, flashed a subtle cold smile at Emily.

Sophia didn't care what James said or Grace's flattering look. She put down her coffee cup, turned to Emily, and asked, "Emily, it's up to you. If you don't want to have dinner with her, I'll ask her to leave."

Hearing this, Grace gripped her handbag tightly, her teeth almost breaking as she wondered why Sophia was treating her worse than Emily.

Everyone's eyes were now on Emily.

Emily steadied herself, walked over to help Sophia up, and said, "It's okay, I can handle it. Let her stay."

Emily didn't think she could ever outshine Olivia in James's heart. After what James had threatened her with in the car, she just wanted to stay away from him. It was better if Olivia stayed, so James wouldn't say anything about making her his mistress.

James glanced at Emily without showing any emotion, feeling relieved but also inexplicably uncomfortable.

"Since Emily said so, let's have dinner together," Sophia said. Grace immediately agreed, and then invited everyone to the dining room.

If Grace and Olivia weren't currently in a mutually beneficial relationship, and she didn't want Emily to have private contact with James, Grace wouldn't have brought Olivia to get involved in these matters.

Olivia couldn't win James's heart and still needed Grace's help.

Everyone sat down at the table with different thoughts.

"Emily, I heard you recently got a job and are very busy. Don't you have time to take care of Michael?" Grace suddenly asked, seemingly unintentionally.

Emily's heart tightened as she knew Grace was deliberately making things difficult for her in front of Sophia. But she didn't want to show any displeasure in front of Michael, so she forced a smile and replied, "Mom, even though I'm busy with work, I've never neglected Michael."

"Really? Isn't the Smith Family's money enough for you? Do you still need to work to earn money?" Grace put down her utensils, her tone aggressive and provocative.

"Mom, no matter how much money the Smith Family has, it's not my money," Emily responded calmly.

Grace wanted to say more, but Sophia interrupted with a heavy cough. "Enough, it is a good thing that Emily is willing to work, but causing a commotion at the dining table is unseemly. Just enjoy your meal!"

With Sophia's words, Grace couldn't say anything more. She gave Emily a cold look and remained silent.

Michael, having finished eating, looked around at everyone and innocently asked Olivia, "Ms. Olivia, why do you always come to our house? Don't you have your own home?"

Olivia's face turned red. She didn't expect Michael to ask such a question. She gripped her fork tightly, forced a smile, and tried to ease the awkwardness. "Michael, I just came to see you and your dad."

"But I don't like you coming to our house," Michael continued, dissatisfied. "I only want Mommy to take care of me. I don't like you always coming to our house. And we came to see Great-grandma. Why are you here? Is Great-grandma your relative too?"

'Olivia wants to bully my Mommy, nice try, huh?' Michael turned around, blinked at Grace, and jumped into her arms. "Grandma, why are you with an outsider?"
