Apology and Forgiveness
"8 PM," Jules mumbled, glancing at the wristwatch he donned, before dusting the red plastic chair.
Light flickered on his face as soon as he was about to sit down.
At first, he thought it was from the power supply until he glimpsed the paparazzi some meters away from him.
"What the hell?!"
Jules's eyes glinted.
He attempted to block the continuous flash of the light with his hand, but it was of no use.
They went on taking shots upon shots like he had called them to do so.
He groaned whilst shielding his face slightly. Though he was used to them showing up unannounced, he hadn't thought of it happening.
He knew what would be the headline tomorrow without even guessing.
Also, he believed the 'stalkers' as he liked calling them would have taken some shots of him when he was with John on the balcony.
He only hoped they hadn't seen him punching him.
Even though the idiot deserved it, Jules didn't want a scandalous headline with his face and name as the main heading. He didn't want to be questioned about the reason for his action.
He managed to escape the paparazzi with the help of Jonathan who had guessed he needed help as soon as he sighted them.
Jules got into the car that was outside awaiting him and ordered Jonathan to drive around.
He slipped his hand into his pocket as his phone vibrated.
He let out a disappointed sigh when he saw it was his mother and not Janice's number on the screen.
Since last night, after hoping futilely, he had given up. Even today, he had thought she would perhaps call to ask after him.
Yet, he didn't see any call from her.
"Mother," Jules mumbled.
"Did you take care of him?"
"I did." Jules asserted. He paused as he heard shuffling on the other end followed by a swear word from Janice.
His heart skipped a beat whilst pondering what was happening to her.
"Mo..."
"I'll phone you back."
The queen stated, hanging up.
Jules frowned, gazing at his phone.
He had heard Janice scream and he had heard the panic in his mother's voice before she hung up.
She might be in trouble, Jules reasoned.
Or was it the baby?!
"To the airport!" He barked, balling his hands into fists.
He didn't care if it was too late to catch a flight. He needed to see his wife.
He prioritises her health over everything. Even though he often acted like he didn't care about her.
He did and it would kill him to see anything happened to the baby in her womb too.
Jules prayed silently as Jonathan accelerated the car each time he swore.
He only hoped that she hadn't hurt herself.
★★★
Janice moaned whilst rolling on top of the velvety sheet that covered her body.
She attempted to open her eyes, but it looked as though it was superglued together.
Her head thumped and the inside of her mouth felt sticky.
What was happening to her?
Janice couldn't remember the last time she tasted alcohol. However, it feels like she had drunk all the collections of Jules' wine.
She could remember shrieking and falling. But the Queen had caught her before she smashed the floor.
Her hand hastily went to her bump. She sighed in relief as she felt the rigid bulge in her tummy.
Also, the baby kicked assuring her it was fine.
She climbed down from the bed and trudged out of the room into the bathroom as the urge to pee surged through her.
As she walked, she noticed as her head still felt a bit woozy. But, not in the way she would collapse again.
"My Lady." Grace bowed as she stepped into the room. "Thank goodness you are well."
"I thought something awful had happened to you when you fainted." She rambled.
"I'm fine Grace and thank you for looking out for me."
"Oh, I did nothing. The Queen did everything and even helped in carrying you to your room."
"That's very kind of her." Janice smiled.
"My lady," Grace said, halting Janice in her step. "Can I bring your lunch since you barely ate anything in the morning?"
As soon as she was about to reply, Jules burst into the room. He glanced at the young maid, "Gracie, are you?"
Startled, Janice stared at him. She wanted to jump into his arms and embraced him tightly. However, she remembered she was furious with him.
She licked her lips whilst eyeing him.
She couldn't deny how good he looked in the suit he donned despite how mad she was at him.
"Yes, your majesty." Grace curtsied.
"Prepare brunch for two," Jules stated.
"Very well your majesty." She curtsied again before leaving.
"Jules." Janice walked towards the window and drew the blinds.
Jules stared at his wife as she walked to the window side. He was glad she wasn't in any form of danger like he had thought.
He had met with the doctor who told him it was due to not eating enough. Though she didn't change much, he noticed she was slightly paler.
"Aren't you going to greet me properly? Didn't you miss me?" He asked, walking towards her.
Janice shrugged, walking back to the bed. She sat on it and gripped a pillow, placing it on her bump.
Jules sighed, "I'm sorry."
Janice's eyes snapped to him. Then back at the book, she was holding. She shrugged, letting her eyes travel around the room, then back to the book.
"You didn't ask about the outcome of what I went for?"
"I don't care."
"I know you are mad at me. But, please can you try to listen to me for once?"
Janice stared at him as she heard the irritation in his voice.
"Were you trying to starve yourself to death by not eating? Or you hate the baby so much that you wish to get rid of it?"
Janice snorted, then glared at him. "If I hated the baby, I would have done the termination. Heck, I won't be in this prison you call a freaking castle!"
She tossed her hands in the air and let out an exasperated sigh.
"I hate seeing you. I hate your face. You give me a reason to do that each freaking day!"
Jules listened with rapt attention. It hurts to hear her say she loathed seeing him.
He had believed she enjoyed his company. But right now, he couldn't help but think otherwise.
"I just hate everything and everyone!" Janice sobbed.
"Hey shh..." Jules muttered, gathering her in his arms. "You can hate me, I don't care. But, please don't hate and hurt the baby."
He caressed her back and kissed the top of her head.
"I'm sorry for saying that to you. It was insensitive of me."
"I forgive you." She mumbled.
Janice hiccup, nodding her head. Her hormones were heightened and she wondered if she did love him. She believed Jules didn't care for her the way she did and she couldn't force him to do so.
Still, she was glad he had apologized.
