The event(1)

Janice lifted a brow as she sensed Jules' eyes on her.
He had been watching her ever since she stepped into the room. She wondered why, because he barely does that.
It was her first time noticing his eyes on her and it unnerved her.
"Madame,"
Janice jumped, swirled and glared at her husband that had sneaked up on her.
"Quit terrifying me!" She bristled.
Jules chuckled, whilst clutching her tiny hand as she prepared to punch him.
"I enjoy seeing you startled." He said with a cheeky smile.
Janice frowned as she stared at his amused face. It was a rare sight to behold and it entranced her.
She found herself reiterating the smile with one of hers. And she couldn't help but feel her heart skipping a beat at how boyish and cute it made him look.
"You should smile often."
"You think my smile is cute?" Jules inquired and his grin widened.
Janice rolled her eyes, nudging his chest. "I didn't say you were cute. Your face looks pleasant and less scary when you smile."
"Also," She went on as she noticed him raising his brow. "It makes you look approachable. Instead of the frown that often makes you look dangerous."
"I thought you like dangerous men?"
"I like normal men." Janice retorted, rolling her eyes.
She wondered why he was twisting her words on purpose. Again, his playfulness and change in demeanour since today baffled her.
But, she was glad she got to see a different side of him. Rather, than the formidable and unapproachable air that often formed around him.
"Well, if it isn't my bestie."
Janice breathed out as Jules tugged her to him suddenly. She felt him stiffened, and he gripped her hand tightly. But, it did not hurt her.
Her eyes travelled from the scowling face of Jules to the smirking face of Brightstone, who had Princess Gabrielle with him.
"Your majesty!" Gabrielle left Brightstone's side and bowed in front of Jules.
She straightened, pulled the glove from her left hand hastily and stretched it out to him so he could kiss it.
Janice scoffed, shaking her head. Then she glanced at Brightstone who was approaching her.
"Brightstone." She smiled, nodding towards him.
"My prettiest queen."
"Brightstone." Janice turned to Jules as he repeated Paxton's title. He released his hand that the princess was clutching and stepped to herself.
He hugged Janice to himself once more, making her wonder what he was doing.
"Fancy seeing you here, dearest friend. I didn't know you would attend such an event."
Janice sighed. She was the one who had dragged him to the town square to watch the parade.
Jules had declined and told her he had other important things he was doing.
However, as soon as he heard that Brightstone would be there as well, he changed his mind.
"Queen Janice." Princess Gabrielle bowed.
She had begun calling her by her first name followed by her title.
Even though she was now civil to her and respected everything and ruled she often laid out. She had never gotten over Jules.
Janice doubted if she would because it seemed more like an obsession now.
She had often seen the young girl lurking around the door to their room most times and she had asked her what she needed.
Yet, she hadn't been able to come up with a reasonable answer which often infuriated Janice.
Even today, she had done the same thing and purposely passed by her to meet Jules.
"I didn't know Jerks were allowed on this program as well?"
Janice snapped out of her thought as she heard Jules retort.
She glimpsed the two men as they sized each other up and stalked towards themselves whilst puffing out their chest.
She shook her head and realized she was imagining things.
She sighed and walked towards Jules. She gripped his hand and steered him away from Brightstone who looked like his main aim here was to rile him.
"I hate that sl*t." Janice heard the princess say, but she didn't turn back.
Brightstone hushed the girl that was in front of him as she made a demeaning comment about Janice.
He was sure she had heard it too and had pretended not to.
"Why? Do you like her too?"
Brightstone stared at the princess. The note of disdain in her voice couldn't go unnoticed.
She also matched it by doing a disgusted expression on her face.
"She's a married lady and she is pregnant."
"She is pregnant?" Brightstone inquired, frowning.
"Of course. Why else would you think made her look like a whale?"
"I wonder why everyone thinks she looks good and ignores us that are not married." Princess Gabrielle rolled her eyes.
Brightstone shook his head. He couldn't stop thinking about what the princess had said.
Janice was pregnant?!
The woman he wanted by all means!
He didn't know.
Perhaps because he had been busy staring at her flawless face instead of her body.
However, he noticed her bump was perfectly concealed. He believed she had a nice figure even though she was with a child.
He often imagined seeing a lithe figure underneath the huge flowy gown she often donned.
Now he knows better. He wondered how huge the baby bump was.
Despite the revelation of her being pregnant, he still wanted her.
He didn't know if he was stupid for pinning on her after learning what she was hiding from him.
But, he couldn't help it. His feelings for her had insanely grown stronger the moment he realized she was someone else.
Right now, it was at its peak and Brightstone knew he wouldn't feel fine until he had her.
He didn't mind breaking his friendship with Jules because of that.
"No." He mumbled, shaking his head.
Despite him wanting her, he could not let it break his friendship with Jules.
He groaned whilst shaking his head. He couldn't stop thinking about her. Perhaps, she had bewitched him.
Maybe she had done so because that was the only way to explain what she was doing to him.
