Pain
Everything was going well until the afternoon came when Janice began to feel pain in her lower belly.
Panicked, she waddled to the calendar she had placed at the side of her when she moved into the room with Jules.
She creased her brows whilst glancing at it. She rubbed her tummy as the pain intensified.
She groaned whilst doubling over. It was worse than the last time she had thought she was bleeding to death.
At least she knew it was normal then because the doctor had been called for almost immediately.
However, she didn't know what the matter was currently because she would not be due until three months.
Right now, I felt like the baby was trying to tear itself out of her baby.
"Jules!" She groaned whilst panting. She clenched the nightstand as her vision blurred.
She attempted to blink the haziness from her eyes but it was of no use.
Her heart and head began to pound and the pain didn't stop. Rather, it became worse.
Janice managed to trudge to the door and she breathed out as it swung open on its own.
"Madame..." Jules trailed off as he saw the panic and pain flashing in her eyes.
"What is the matter?!" He asked, almost yelling.
He sidled to her side and gripped her as he saw her crouched.
"I-I don't know." She grunted, clutching his hand.
"Are you having the baby yet?" Jules' creased his brows whilst clutching her hand.
"Of course, not! It wouldn't be due until three months. So, there is no way in hell I'm having a premature baby!" Janice gasped.
"I feel like my inside is on fire, do something!" She yelled, scrunching his shirt.
"Calm down," Jules mumbled. "Breath in and let it out slowly." He instructed.
Janice did as he instructed. The pain lessened a bit, only to resurface again.
This time her shriek was louder.
Jules winced. He was sure the whole castle had heard it and he knew they would be wondering by now what was going on.
His hand shook whilst he brought his phone out of his pocket. He made two calls, but Janice didn't know who he was speaking to, neither did she care.
She was focused on the pain she was in. "What is going on with me? Will my baby be okay?!" She sobbed.
"You will be fine and so will the baby," Jules said firmly.
He didn't know if he was assuring her or himself.
The last time he believed she had been in the situation was when he had been to London to meet her ex.
He had entered the next available flight as soon as he heard her distressed voice.
Right now as he was present experiencing the same thing she might have been through, he didn't know how to feel.
Heck, he felt as if he was the one in pain rather than her.
He had seen a lot of pregnant women. Many had even worked under him and he hadn't seen any in the situation she was in.
Maybe they often experienced it at home. But, it was unlikely because they appeared so strong and never missed a day of work.
Janice was strong as well. But, he often saw her as a fragile human due to her condition and he knew if anything happened to her or the baby he would not forgive himself even if the fault wasn't his.
Margie and Jeremy burst into the room with the doctor at their heels.
"What happened?" Margie asked as she saw her friend's face contorted in a grimace.
"I-I d-don't know until the doctor says what is wrong." Janice cried, clutching Jules's hand.
He noticed how hard she was gripping his hand, it was painful and almost felt as if she was going to crack the bones on his fingers.
For a small woman, she sure does have strength.
But, he didn't complain nor did he withdraw his hand.
He was aware she was trying to draw strength from him.
"I guess I will be fine," Janice mumbled to herself. She caressed her bump and felt the baby kick.
She breathed out, whilst staring heavenward. She was glad the baby was fine and wasn't in danger like she had thought.
But, she needed to know what was going on. Even though the doctor had told her she had nothing to worry about the last time, she believed something was going on with her.
"You will be," Margie stated, dabbing at her forehead with a white hanky.
Janice winced as she felt a prick on her shoulder. Her head reeled as a wave of dizziness washed over her.
"Of course, I will be." She slurred. Her hand went limp in Margie's hand and she slipped into unconsciousness.
