"But trust me, can you see he is suffering the same way as you?"
"Just drop it, Margie."
"Fine." Margie shrugged. "I hope you accept him before it is too late. You should try considering him because of the prince anyway."
Janice glared and puffed out a breath. "We are not talking about him anymore."
Margie giggled as Janice tossed her a throw pillow. She drew an imaginary zip across her lips and tossed the key away before staring at her.
"How about we do something fun?"
Janice creased her brows whilst staring at the twinkles in Margie's eyes.
"I am afraid of the kind of fun you are thinking about. I mean whenever your eyes twinkle, you are always up to no good. So, I think I will pass."
Margie pouted, "You are no fun."
"It's better than being no fun than to be tagged a whore. I don't want to be involved in any more scandal than this."
Margie tossed her head back and let out a burst of laughter. She gripped her side whilst trying to suppress it.
"I don't know what you are talking about. And you being tagged a whore would make such an interesting drama."
"I doubt it would and you sure do know what I am on about. Do you remember May's bachelorette party?"
Janice was certain Margie knew without being told what had occurred. Besides, it was only two years ago and hard for anyone to forget. Especially her, it had been one of the most embarrassing moments of her life.
"That skimpy bikini event?"
Janice grimaced with a nod, "That one."
"But you look sexy in it. I mean everyone was ogling you throughout, even the groom."
Janice rolled her eyes. She may have been sexy in the skimpy swimsuit, but it almost cost her dignity and even friendship.
Aside from the men trying to feel up her body, May had created a scene as her soon to be groom showed up unexpectedly with a girl on his arm, who was later revealed to be his little sister whom May had never met.
Not only that, the groom had chased her all night and even made crude jokes about wanting to have a taste of her.
Unfortunately, May had heard all and kicked her out of the party.
However, she made headlines with a nasty capture underneath her scantily clad body.
"It was embarrassing, Margie. Can't you remember the furious look on May's face? She almost bit my head off!"
Margie giggled, "Of course, I remembered. So, are you up for something like that again?"
"No. And you shouldn't be up for something like that as well. You are married into the royal family. Also, unless you desire to sleep in the stable, you can try something like that. I am sure the witch won't spare you."
"Who is a witch?"
Janice and Margie let out a loud shriek, whilst clasping each other's hands.
"Damn it, Jeremy, you almost gave me a heart attack!"
"Easy wifey." Jeremy chuckled and dodged the pillow Margie sent sailing to his head.
She scowled. "Be freaking glad that is not my 6" heels."
"Then who would be your husband if you impaled me?" Jeremy tilted his brows whilst walking towards her.
He narrowed his eyes, "Are you thinking of seeing someone behind my back? I will f**king kill..."
"I am not seeing anyone." Margie rolled her eyes. "Stop the threat."
"It's not a threat. Just letting you know I own you. Everything in you is mine."
Janice sighed, "Typical Forrest man."
She wondered when she would stop hearing such words. Countless times, Jules had made it known to her that he had every right to her body and everything she possessed.
Thinking about it now, it even sounded ridiculous as she had never seen him be the caveman type.
But, all the signs had been there. Perhaps, she was too blinded by her feelings for him that she didn't notice.
Nevertheless, she wishes her son wouldn't have the same mindset as them and treat women as trash since he was a Forrest as well.
"Hey! Nothing is wrong with being a Forrest."
"I didn't say anything was," Janice responded.
"But you have that weird look on your face which says, 'run whenever you sees one.'" Jeremy said, imitating Margie's voice.
Janice chuckled as Margie swatted his hair.
"I don't even talk that way." She glared, "And Janice is right, you act like a caveman. Especially your brother, Jules. He's the worst."
"He isn't," Jeremy said. "Neither am I. It's just that when we love, we love too hard and don't want any other man near our woman. It makes us feel we are not doing enough if such happens. Besides, our women are meant to be ours, so sharing isn't our thing."
A cheeky grin appeared on his face and he pinched Margie's cheeks. Before caressing her slight baby bump.
"What if it was the man that acted that way? Seeing other women whereas his wife had been loyal to him? What would you say about that?"
Jeremy assessed Janice and he shook his head. "I know what you are doing and where you are trying to arrive. However, that is why I am here."
Janice folded her arms in front of her. "I am glad he explained all the shitty things he had done to you. And maybe he didn't tell you this, we are getting a divorce and he had threatened not to give it to me."
"You won't get a divorce," Jeremy affirmed.
"I told her the same as well." Margie chimed in.
"I am and no one, not even Jules' ten thousand watchdogs, can make me stay if I don't want to."
"Jules didn't do it," Jeremy said.
"Here we go again. How many more defenders should I be expecting? I guess I am all by myself."
Janice glowered at Margie than at Jeremy.
"Believe me, he didn't. You are punishing him for what he knows nothing of. If he wanted to cheat on you, he would do it cleanly. I am sure you won't even know about this. But what is happening now is total blackmail."
"I refuse to believe that." Janice snapped. "I don't care if y'all are defending him. He isn't remorseful about what he did and he is threatening to sue me if I did anything rash? I might as well use him for harassment."
"How remorseful do you want him to be? He is freaking suffering and have you seen him recently? I mean did you see how raggedy he looks? I am sure you would not have said such a thing if you had."
Janice bit her lips. The guilt she was sure she shouldn't feel surged through her.
The last time she had seen Jules was after the threat he had given to her about not leaving.
Ever since then, she hasn't. Maybe because she barely left the room. She had restricted her movement to only the kitchen and that was if Gracie was not around.
"I am not saying this to make you feel guilty." Jeremy paused and looked into her eyes before he continued, "But you need to get back together with him. Stop making him suffer for what he didn't do and don't take his son away from him."
"Taking the little boy that knows nothing away from his father can be termed as blackmail as well."
"It isn't," Janice argued. "Besides, I am not interested in seeing him."
Jeremy sighed and he rose from the bed, "Both of you are too stubborn for your good. I wonder how you ended up with each other."
Janice shrugged, then stood from where she sat. She walked towards the room as the baby monitor went off and picked up her son.
After feeding him, she set him back in the cot and stepped into the room to see only Margie.
"I'll be back."
Janice nodded as Margie excused herself. She sat on the bed and thought of all that Jeremy had said.
Was she punishing Jules for unjust reasons and was he by chance innocent?
"I doubt that." She mumbled to herself.
But then, why does the guilt within her keep on intensifying each time she thinks of the situation?
That she couldn't provide an answer to. She wished everything would be over soon and both of them would go their separate ways.
Although the idea of divorcing her husband was the last thing on her mind, she believed it was for the best.
