Casual talk(1)
"I can't believe Jeremy will be happy he's going to be a dad," Margie murmured.
"I told you, you don't need to worry," Janice said.
"Even though I'm happy too, I still think it is going to be a disaster."
"It won't," Janice said firmly. "The baby is going to have lovely parents. I don't know why you think you would behave like your parents."
Margie shrugged. "It isn't my fault I think about their failed parentage all the time. They never made me feel loved. So, it is natural I think I'm going to end up that way since I have their blood running through my veins."
"You won't." Margie asserted, gripping her clenched hands. "We are here to assist you."
Margie nodded, sighing. "As I said, I am happy I am going to be a mother. But I'm a bit scared. I know with Jeremy by my side, it is going to be a little easier."
"Don't forget you have Jules and I." Janice squeezed her hand.
"Of course, I have you. Margie affirmed, then grimaced. "I don't know about your husband. He acts scary and I don't think he will like to be in the midst of any child. Not even yours."
"That's silly. Jules adores the baby in my tummy and I get jealous each day because he never pays attention to me."
"But, you are the one carrying the baby. You shouldn't be worried if he pays attention to you. Because indirectly he is."
Janice didn't say anything because even if she tried to explain, she wouldn't understand.
"I just hope Jeremy won't exhibit some of the nasty Forrest traits his mother or brother does," Margie said.
"Hey!" Janice exclaimed, glaring at her playfully. "They aren't that bad."
"Of course, Jules isn't bad. I know he is being his usual self but he loves his family." Margie said, staring at Janice.
She continued, "However, I can't say the same for the Queen. She never wanted us." She pointed towards Janice before her.
"I can't believe she arranged a marriage with some insane boring ladies for her children. I'm glad they didn't accept though."
Janice nodded in agreement. If Jules had gone with his mother's choice, there was no way she would have met him. There was no way she would be pregnant for him.
Perhaps, it would have been better if she hadn't met him. At least, she wouldn't be in love with him and wouldn't be in the prison he called a house!
But, she didn't regret the baby they were going to have together. It was the best thing that ever happened to her. She couldn't believe she had thought of terminating it in the beginning.
She wouldn't have forgiven herself if she had done.
Aside from Jules being his jerky self, she knew deep down, he cared for her. Even though he had often told her he was more concerned about the baby rather than its mother.
She knew he was afraid of commitment. She had met a lot of men like him back home and had prayed against encountering any.
Yet, she had the worst luck since every man that tended to approach her was interested in using her.
She was not gullible, rather the opposite. But, because she didn't have time to think about her relationship rather than her business, they had often used it against her.
Same thing her ex had done. He wanted to use her but she was glad she had caught him because he could.
It was quite painful, but she was happy. Instead of living a life full of deceit, she was better off in a prison world.
Janice jerked, her eyes trailed to Margie who was staring at her intently.
"You are spacing out again." Margie accused with a glare. "I wonder if you are thinking about Jules and the wonders he often does in the bedroom."
"Sorry." She murmured, sheepishly. "I wasn't thinking along that line."
"Then, what were you thinking about?"
"Nothing," Janice replied.
Margie glared at her as she did an imaginary zip across her mouth. She knew Janice wouldn't say anything even if she prodded her after doing that.
"So, can we go ahead with our discussion?"
"Of course," Janice affirmed. She grabbed a pillow and placed it on top of her lap. So, she could rest her hands on it.
"I hope you won't space out on me again. You know how annoying that is."
"I do," Janice said.
Margie continued what she had been saying about the first time her morning sickness started and the cravings she had been having.
This time, instead of spacing out, Janice listened. It wasn't because Margie had warned her not to space out, it was because she was tired of thinking too much.
Tired of thinking about the life she wishes she had but knew she would not get.

The afternoon came and the women were still in the room.
"Ouch." Janice groaned, rubbing her tummy.
"Did the baby kick?"
"Nope, I'm hungry," Janice said. She remembers she hadn't eaten anything and if Jules knew, he would be furious with her.
He would say she was trying to endanger the baby's life as if when the baby was in trouble, she wouldn't be.
She didn't want to get on his bad side since he always knew if she had eaten anything for the morning or not.
But since he hadn't come stalking towards the room, she believed he hadn't asked Grace yet.
Janice jumped as a knock sounded on the door.
"It's opened." She called out.
Jules stepped into the room, his eyes went to Margie and he nodded before glancing at Janice.
She groaned as she noticed the murderous look he was trying hard to conceal directed at her.
"You haven't eaten since." Jules extended his brow.
It was a statement rather than a question. She nodded and muttered a 'sorry been busy' before staring away.
She stared back at him as she heard him grunt. It was barely audible but she could have sworn he cussed at her in French.
"I don't know if you skip your meal on purpose to get my attention or to rile me," Jules said. "Whichever it is, stop trying to jeopardize your health." He finished, stalking out of the room.
"That is unusual," Janice mumbled as soon as he left.
Jules had never cared about her.
Even though he told he cared sometimes, but he had never been this mad she was trying to jeopardize her health as he had stated.
"I thought the ice prince didn't care about anyone but himself," Margie said.
Janice glanced at her, before shaking her head. "He cared about his unborn child. But, it's a surprise to see him care about my health."
"I wouldn't read much into it if I were you. He had been that way with a lot of women and I would want you to fall into his trap."
Janice sighed. She didn't know if she should follow what Janice was saying. But, she had known Jules the longest and had seen the way he acted.
Yet, she couldn't because she knew he wasn't the manipulator she thought he was.
