Day out(1)

"It's so nice to be away from our husband's today," Margie said, leafing through a book with her.
"I didn't know such a place existed, until now," Janice replied, still glancing at everywhere in awe.
"You've been here for months, I wonder why you didn't know this since. Anyway, I'm not surprised."
Janice shrugged. She walked to a session where a large sign with the word 'romance' was written in bold later.
A wide smile appeared on her face as she sighted the book she had in mind from a distance.
"This is going to be a great outing." She beamed, snatching the book off the shelf.
She walked back to where Margie sat and settled into the chair opposite hers.
"What are you reading?"
"The art of seduction." Janice grinned.
Margie rolled her eyes. She wrinkled her nose and shook her head. "We have different tastes in books."
"Of course, we do. You can't see me reading recipe books. I don't need it."
"I agree you don't. Also, reading a romantic book is ridiculous to me. I mean, why will I spend hours reading what I know isn't real?"
"You believe it isn't real, but I think otherwise."
Margie shrugged, "Anyway, I believe reading recipe books are better."
"It isn't," Janice argued, shaking her hair.
"It is," Margie argued back.
"It I..." Janice began, but a voice cut her off.
"Madame."
Janice let out a startled gasp. Her wide eyes flickered to Jules' and she noticed Jeremy was with him.
"What are you doing here?"
"I thought I said this is only for the girls?" Margie asked, rather annoyedly.
"Hush darling," Jeremy tutted. "We are here for a day out together as well. We didn't come here because of you."
He snatched a fry from the plate in front of Margie as he sat beside her.
"That's right." Jules asserted. Also, he sat beside Janice and wrapped his arm around her. "We didn't know both of you would be here."
"I'll say it was a coincidence," Jeremy said.
Jules nodded his head to agree with him.
"I'll say you knew we were here and you both came to annoy us." Margie scowled.
"I thought we would get the chance to snag the attention of the handsome noblemen here." She added, sighing.
"Thank goodness, I'm here. I'll be happy to pull out anyone that dares to approach you, teeth." Jeremy cracked his knuckles.
"Spoilsports." Margie groaned, glaring at him.
"What about you Madame?"
"What about me?" Janice asked.
"Did you want to also snag the handsome nobleman's attention here? Let me know how many people I'm going to tell Jeremy to knock out."
"Of course, not. Look at my condition, who would find me desirable?" Janice mumbled.
"You are desirable," Jules affirmed.
"Only to you." Janice retorted.
"If that jerk didn't find you desirable, he wouldn't be after you." Jules' scowled.
Her mind flashed back to the last time she saw Brightstone as he said that.
She had made sure never to run into him, even if Jules wasn't with her.
Jules had kept tabs on her and it would have been worse, not for her, but Brightstone because he had promised to kill the earl if he ever found each of them together.
It was infuriating because she wasn't able to walk anywhere freely.
However, she was glad she had successfully avoided Brightstone. It had been a while since she last saw him.
"What is in that pretty head of yours?" Jules asked, nudging her slightly.
"I know what you can do if I decide to pay attention to any nobleman now. I don't want to be the reason you got engaged in a duel or something."
"I'm glad you are a very smart woman. At least, you learn how to stay away from trouble when you see it from afar."
"Our day is ruined because of you too. We planned on doing a lot of things after visiting the library. Now we can't." Margie complained.
"What else were you planning on doing today?"
"It's none of your business," Margie said to Jeremy, then pointed at Jules who opened his mouth to say something. "Not even yours."
"It's my business since my wife is involved," Jules said, firmly.
"Well, you agreed to let her be for the day and not follow her around like she's going to bed another man."
"That's enough, Margie." Janice blushed, with an eye roll.
Margie didn't know when to keep shut. Perhaps it was her fault for saying some things to her when she knew she wouldn't be able to keep it in the end.
Jules' cheeks tinted with red. He glanced at Janice who stared back at him with an apologetic smile, before glancing at Margie.
He shrugged. He didn't mind what she had said and he wasn't denying it because it was the truth. He was keeping tabs on his wife.
It wasn't because he didn't trust her. It was because of protection. He didn't want anyone to take advantage of her.
He wouldn't forgive himself if any harm comes to her or the baby.
"Hey, Mister." Margie tapped Jeremy as she began again. "Don't think you are any better."
"I've seen you on several occasions peeking into my phones."
"You are my wife, woman. I can do what I want to you or anything that belongs to you."
"You can't do anything you want to me. Kindly give us a break!"
"Shhh, you are drawing the attention of the other people in the library!" Janice cautioned.
"Just let them have a day with us today since they can't do without us." She mumbled, eyeing Jules who didn't care about what the other woman was saying one bit.
"But, that would make them cage us here. We won't be able to go to that..."
"We have interesting information for you." Jules cut her off. He brought out the tickets in his pocket and laid them on the table.
He knew if Janice didn't flare up because of their presence, Margie would. So, he had come prepared.
"What is this?" Margie and Janice asked simultaneously.
"It's the newest hot spring in town. So, no one has visited it yet and we were given the chance to come with our wives." Jules explained.
"Oh, darling!" Margie exclaimed. She beamed and placed a quick kiss on Jeremy's lips. "You know what I like."
"Of course, I do. My job is to keep you happy all the time." He said, caressing her cheeks.
"So, what do you say ladies?"
"Of course, we are going with you!" Margie said.
"After all, we are your wives," Janice added.
"Very well." Jules nodded his head chuckling.
