Jules was the first to snap out of the daze he was in. He stomped towards the woman and glared, "Lucy, I think you are mistaken."
"Perhaps I need to say it again. This is your child whom you abandoned years ago. He is here now. You can take him. I don't want him anymore."
Lucy shoved the little boy forwards and despite her confusion, Janice instinctively caught him before he could tumble to the tiled floor.
"I have no child with you." Jules gritted his teeth.
He yanked her hand and tugged her towards the waiting room, which was inside the church.
He noticed people were gathering. A few people took photos of him. He didn't want them to know more than they knew. The last thing he needed was his son's celebration to be ruined by a fling he had years ago.
A f**king one night stand he didn't recall until today. Before now, she often stalked him and he had deleted as well as blocked her contact soon after.
So, he lost all contact with her until today.
"This can't be happening," Janice mumbled. She swirled and glared at one of the annoying paparazzi who was following her as she followed Jules.
As soon as Jules stepped indoors, he shoved Lucy against the chair, and his grey eyes blazed.
"What do you mean by him being my child? Yes, we freaking had a fling, but I don't recall you telling me you were pregnant!" He slammed his hand on his desk and she flinched.
Likewise Janice.
"Well, I might have missed that out. Besides, how could I? You blocked me and filed a restraining order!"
"I am here now, I don't think it matters if I told you or not." Lucy shrugged, unfazed by what was going on.
Instead, she seemed happy that she was creating a scandal in the royal family.
She had seen how happy they were whilst it burdened her to be with a child she didn't want. She believed bringing him to the castle and abandoning him would be the best thing. But then, she had noticed the event and made an appearance instead.
"Don't blame me." Lucy continued. "You didn't give me the chance to say so."
"That is not my child!" Jules barked and clenched his teeth. "So, take the bastard to whoever fathered him!"
"Enough!" Lucy sprang to her feet and glared at Jules, "Even though I didn't like to be burdened with someone like him, stop calling him a bastard! He is your son and you can carry out a DNA test to confirm that he is!"
Janice didn't think that was necessary. She believed Lucy. The child indeed looked like Jules. She believed even the paparazzi had connected the dot and taken the pictures to make a juicy headline.
But what she didn't know was why the woman had hidden it from him and why Jules as well had hidden it from her.
Although he said he wasn't aware she had carried any child after the fling, Janice could not help but be furious with him.
Despite the fury raging inside of her, she stared at the other woman. "What do you want from us now?"
"I have no business with you. Whom I have a business with is in front of me." Lucy said rudely.
"You don't talk to my wife in that manner!" Jules stepped forwards and wanted to grab the other woman, but Janice halted him.
"What she says doesn't affect me," Janice mumbled. "If she doesn't answer the question I am about to ask, her sorry ass would not only be thrown out of here, an order if she ever trespassed would be placed on her and I am not joking, I will see that it is carried out."
Lucy straightened and chested out, she glared at Janice and folded her arms in front of her.
"What do you want from us? Is it money? Child support or what?"
A coy smile appeared on Lucy's face and she tilted her head as if wondering what Janice had listed. "I might be a little broke. I think I need some money." She said, then added. "I don't want him. That is why he is here. I don't care about any child and I had him because he refused to be ended."
Lucy wrinkled her nose and twisted her lips.
Janice clenched her hands and let out a breath. She knew that was the reason the woman created a scandal. It was about money.
Just like how John her ex had done. He didn't love her, but he had blackmailed her for the money.
But now, it wasn't entirely blackmailing. The child was Jules, and Janice wanted the woman out of her sight. She didn't mind giving her what she wanted.
"Very well," Janice said after seeing the figures the woman wrote. "I would transfer it to your account, I promise you that."
"You seem like a cool queen," Lucy noted. "I'll hold you to your promise and leave. If after today, I don't see the money, don't expect me to obey whatever stupid rules you laid down. I am going to bring enough paparazzi here to create a scene."
Janice gritted her teeth and the urge to yank the woman by her shoulder-length hair filled her. But she held herself back and stared at the child instead.
As soon as the woman left, Jules spoke up.
"What do we do with him?"
"He's yours. Figure it out yourself." Janice hissed and left.
Jules shook his head and exhaled. It did not surprise him about her anger. He believed it was well deserved.
But then, he was aware it wasn't his fault too, since he did not know about the child as well.
If he had known, he definitely would have taken him in since he was an infant, and not now.
He didn't think he could erase what had happened and the scandal that came with him. Even though he would make them take the headlines down, it would still be the talk of Cherview for some time until after a recent scandal comes up.
"What do I do with you now?" Jules mumbled, staring at the little boy, who was by the bookshelf and didn't mind that his mother had left him behind.
