Chapter 31: Burnesfield

**Nala's P.O.V
**
It was one tiring and quiet ride. Pete, Dr. Annie's friend didn't say much on the journey, and I slept mostly on the way. When I arrived at Burnesfield it was midnight. All homes were close, the place was quiet. I soon become worried if it was going to be difficult now in instructing Mr. Pete to Dr. Charles's home, but I was quite surprised when he stopped at the house without any instruction from me. It seemed Dr. Annie had taken care of that for me as well. I was very thankful for her within my life.

Mr. Pete helped me with my suitcase.

"You don't have to walk me to the door," I told Mr. Pete.

"It's okay," he said. "I assured Dr. Annie that I'll see to it that you're in the house safe when I get here."

I smiled at what he said and allowed him to walk me. He had made up his mind in helping me and there was nothing I could do to change his mind.

As we both got to the front door, I knocked on the door. No one answered, I tried the second time, and soon the third time I started to worry if Dr. Charles had passed out in is house. I knock harder for the fourth time. The door opened and there I was quite surprised to meet a young she-wolf now standing before me.

"Who are you?" I inquired her puzzled before she would question me as well.

She stared at me curiously and I too did the same.

"Izabella," I heard Dr. Charles coming downstairs coughing. "Who is at the door at this time of the night?"

"Dr. Charles," I called as I walked past the strange, she-wolf, bouncing her.

Mr. Pete followed me with the bag inside.

Dr. Charles was so surprised to see me that his eyes widen.

"I'm here to take care of you until you get better," I told Dr. Charles.

"I told Dr. Annie not to worry about my sickness I'll be better soon," Dr. Charles said to me.

"I'll be off now," Mr. Pete said leaving.

"Thank you and take care," I thanked him as I turn to face him.

As he went off my attention turned back to Dr. Charles while the strange, she-wolf closed the door.

"I won't leave here until your fever is gone," I told Dr. Charles.

Dr. Charles smiled, happy to see me.

"Who is she?" I heard the strange wolf behind me.

"This is Nala she is like my daughter," Dr. Charles answered her. I began to look at her as he did.

The introduction Dr. Charles made about me touched me deeply that he considered me as his daughter. Not knowing a father, I too considered him as one to me.

"Nala, this is Alpha Anton's new maid," Dr. Charles finally filled my curiosity about her.

"The alpha sends her to take care of me until I get better, if I know you were coming, I would have let you know that someone was taking care of me in not bothering you."

"Of course, you're not, Dr. Charles," I assured him. It was indeed a great pleasure coming here to take care of him I owed him very much.

"Izabella, you can go back to sleep I'll be fine with Nala."

She nodded and I watched her carefully as she went upstairs. I couldn't stop staring at her. She was very beautiful and seemed very young. I too was quite surprised that she was Alpha Anton's maid. He must be having his ways with her; I began to think.

"You must be tired on such a long journey," Dr. Charles said to me as he coughed.

"I am," I answered him.

"Let's get you to another room since Izabella is sleeping in your old room."

My face frowned as I follow Dr. Charles upstairs hating that she was in my room. Out of all the rooms in the house, why does she have to be in mine? It didn't matter anyway, I thought wanting to forget her, my ex-slut, I again thought badly.

Dr. Charles coughed the entire time going upstairs. Before going to my room, I helped him into his room to lie down. As I did Izabella rushed into his room with a bottle of coughing syrup and a small spoon. I watched her gravely as she poured it out and gave it to him.

"Thank you, my darling, you're such a helpful wolf," Dr. Charles said to her.

My eyes rolled and I stare at her gravely. I don't know but my wolf just couldn't stand her, and it was the first I was seeing her.

She closes the bottle and turns to me.

"But since I'm here and as a training doctor I'll take care of him from now on so you can return to your regular job to her strict alpha."

"The alpha is good alpha and okay," she answers me politely with a bright smile.

I was quite stunned at the way she describes Alpha Anton. I recollected working with him a living hell.

I nodded at her and she placed down the medicines on the bedroom table and left. I made sure Dr. Charles laid well in his bed and left his room when he went off to sleep. I pulled my suitcase into my room and took out a nightwear with a clean pair of underwear to take a bath before going to bed. I exited the room and go into the bathroom taking a quick shower. I was soon through and was returning to my room. I was quite surprised to see Izabella coming from downstairs. I paused and watched her. She has a sexy body I'm sure Alpha Anton must be very tempted to touch occasionally.

"How long have you been here taking care of Dr. Charles?" I inquired her.

"Just two days now," she answered me as she reached up the stairs.

"Well, as I said I'll be taking thing here from now on, you can even go home to your mate now," I told her.

"I'm mate-less and I'll stay here until tomorrow I return to my regular duty at the alpha's home," she answered me.

I nodded and walked straight to my room and close the door behind her.

"What a bitch," I said angrily.

I soon felt bad at how I've described her and too the way I behave around her. She must think of me as an unpleasant person, I thought. I was acting a bit jealous. It was quite foolish of me. After all, I had a man waiting on me at Roxburghe a very handsome one in fact. I lay still in my bed staring at the wall as the small talk between me and Izabella flashed within my head. I'm mate-less, I recollected her said. I soon could not help thinking that Anton was in fact tapping her of course. The alpha is a man, and he must be tempted by her beauty sometimes.

"I wonder how long she has been working with him?" I said softly.

I got angry at myself and my curiosity about alpha Anton and his maid. It didn't matter after all. I didn't want him back. I was here for Dr. Charles. His health should be the only thing I should be thinking about now. I soon went off to sleep.

It was morning. I got up washed my face, brush my teeth, and put on a pink blouse and a jeans pant with a slipper. Before I went downstairs to the kitchen. I checked on Dr. Charles; he was fast asleep.

I headed downstairs.

"Good morning," Izabella greeted me as I enter the kitchen.

I greeted her back. I was quite surprised that she was already up and too had completed breakfast.

"I made toast, eggs and bacon for you with a cup of coffee and some chicken soup for Dr. Charles," she told me.

"Thanks."

She nodded with a smile.

"I'll be leaving now for my job, nice meeting you, Dr. Nala."



"Are you going to eat before you leave?" I inquired her seeing she was indeed a nice wolf.

"I've already done so."

"Okay."

I see her off as she left closing the door. I then poured out my breakfast along with Dr. Charles and went upstairs to have breakfast with him. Dr. Charles was awakened when I again entered his room.

The soup was a bit too hot for him and so I helped him to the bathroom to brush his teeth and helped him back to his room.

I started to eat my breakfast. It was wonderfully prepared, soon Dr. Charles. I helped him with his soup until it was completed.

"Izabella had went back to her regular work," I told him.

"Oh, it’s so sad I couldn't tell her goodbye," Dr. Charles said. "She's been so helpful to me."

"Can you get me some orange juice," Dr. Charles inquired me.

I nodded and went straight downstairs. I searched his refrigerator and saw that it was almost empty nor there was any orange juice, I went back upstairs telling him there was none.

"I'm going to get some," I told him remembering the nearest supermarket.

He nodded. I exit his room and go to my room in search of my purse, soon I was out of the house and on my way. It felt so weird being within the land, now that I was able to see where I was going clearly. I soon was within the market area. It was very crowded and noisy how I had remembered it to be. I went into a supermarket and started to make my purchases: juices, snacks, and other items. I was through within some minutes, and I held my bag leaving the store completing my grocery shopping. My body suddenly jumped seeing alpha Anton surrounded by several men. He was giving them instructions and he seemed quite busy. He was well attired always. He was in a dark blue shirt and blue pants. His hair was made in ponytail. His eyes went in my direction and immediately as I was about to run, he just walked off with his man like he didn't see me. I paused and stared at him appalled wondering if he did see me and didn't care, or he didn’t see me. I watched him until I no longer saw him, disappearing into the crowd. I couldn’t believe what had just happened. Alpha Anton had never ignored me.
