Chapter 20

**Cole**



Winter, my Mate, is finally part of Red Dawn Pack. I feel overjoyed. I know Dante is happy. He has wanted to talk with Athena, Winter’s wolf since he saw her in the woods. Now that she is in the pack, our wolves can finally mind link, and she will be able to link with other pack members as well.

When we mark each other, we will be able to mind link in our human forms as well. Why did I have to think about marking her? Thinking of all that implies is making my dick hard. Why does the mere thought of her make me feel this way?

When I hugged her after the joining, I caught her smell. It wasn’t mixed with that of a rogue wolf any longer. It was all her own, cinnamon and rain. It is so powerful I need dart out of the room before everyone sees just how insane my mate is driving me.

I take a few moments to calm down while she is talking to Byron. Did he just say he knew her parents? I’ll have to make a mental note to get more details from him later. As she walks past, I take her hand.

“Winter let's get some breakfast.”

Smiling, she nods and follows me down to the kitchen. As we walk in, we see there are eggs, bacon, and orange juice waiting for us. We Sit down and start to dig in.

“So, umm... Winter I have got to get to work after breakfast. So, I was wondering....”

I am cut off by Gale as she walks in. “Good morning, you two love birds. Hey, Cole I was wondering if I could take Winter with me to go shopping today. I need some new clothes and such. Would you mind if I steal her away today?”

This is perfect. I need to work, and quite frankly Winter needs some things. She is no longer going to be living with only what she can carry. “Yes, I think that is a great idea. Let us finish eating, and I’ll have Winter come find you when she is ready to leave. Also, I’ll have Linus go with you as a protection detail.” I can feel Winter’s eyes glaring at me.

“Ok” chirps Gale as she walks away.

Why is she giving me the stink eye? Is it because of the security detail? It’s standard for an escort to go with Gale when she goes off the pack territory. Or maybe she doesn’t like the idea of shopping with Gale. Whatever it is I am sure she is going to tell me. I have learned that much from her. She won't hold back to spare my feelings.



**Winter**



“You think I need protection? Are you serious? Also, I don’t want to go shopping. I do not need a single thing. In a few weeks I may need some more toothpaste and soap, but I don’t need anything else.” I spat out, glaring at Cole after Gale left the room.

I would not ever fight with him in front of others. My parents taught me to never disrespect my father in front of anyone. He was the Alpha, and you never openly disagree with your Alpha. If I had a problem with him, I would address it when it was just the two of us.

“Look Winter I don’t want to push you or anything, but you need more than one pair of pants. Also, your only shorts and bra are now in the laundry, and you don’t even own shoes.” Cole says as he pinches the bridge of his nose. As for Linus, him being there is in no way a reflection of what I think about your capability to defend yourself. You’ve more than proven this morning that you’re a bad ass. It’s customary for members of my family to take an entourage when they go outside our territory. It discourages rival wolves from doing something stupid. Besides that, he can make sure to get you set up with a new phone on my plan. He’ll get it set up with all the contacts you’ll need, and ready to use the moment it hits your hand.”

“Cole, I don’t need a phone. I’ve never had one and I don’t need one now. Also, I have shoes. I just don’t wear them. I’m not a human, I’m a werewolf. My feet are supposed to feel the earth. My shoes are only for when I’m interacting with humans. Honestly, I don’t even know why everyone around here has them on. And a bra, seriously I don’t even see the point of that either. They are uncomfortable and I only use it when I exercise, so my boobs don’t bounce up and hit me in the face.” I retort back.

Cole sighs “you need the phone so you can get pack updates. That is not negotiable. I hate to pull rank like this but I’m going to. As your Alpha I am requiring you to buy whatever my sister says you need.”

I cannot believe Cole right now. He is pulling his Alpha card out, over what? Fucking clothes! So, now I have to be his sister's doll, this sucks. I am not overjoyed about having a phone, but I at least understand why I need one.

Then an idea hits me. I have a way to avoid his command. “Oh, Umm... All Powerful Alpha Cole, I’m so sorry to bring this to your attention but I can’t follow your order. I don’t have enough money for anything other than the phone as I know those are expensive.” I say with a smart-ass tone.

I hate using the Alpha card on Winter, but it is much faster and more efficient I think to myself. I don’t want to sit here arguing about how she shouldn’t act like a rouge anymore, since she is now a member of this Pack. Goddess help me, she will be Luna soon if I have my way. That is if she isn’t too mad at me for pulling rank just now.

“Winter, I’m sorry if I made you think you will have to buy all these things. I will be paying for everything.” I say.

She rolls her eyes and gets up. “Fine, oh mighty Alpha I will go get my human shoes, and then go find your sister.” With that she walks off. I pull out my phone and text Linus to fill him in on his job for the day.
