Chapter 67

**Cole**

I stand looking at the carnage before me. Bodies splayed across the field. I know we need to clean up this mess. But I need to know that my very pregnant mate is okay. I mind link to Winter but get no response. I try again but nothing.

I inform some of the pack warriors to start clearing the bodies and burn them. Then I call for an immediate council meeting. We need to take stock in who is dead and give them a proper send off. As well as finding out where Winter is and tell them of what I have discovered.

I still have a feeling Alpha Ryan was involved in this. I am unsure how, but we need to hash out what has gone down. I head back to the pack house and up to our war room. I am soon greeted by the rest of the council, but Winter is not there. “Has anyone seen the Luna?” I ask.

No one answers me. The dread that is in the pit of my stomach is growing by the second. “Well, who was the last person to see her, talk to her?” Silence fills the room. I take a moment to mind link to the pack. “Who has seen the Luna?”

I get back a few responses mostly of hearing that they saw her wolf Athena fighting in the south field. I think is she dead? She wouldn’t have died I know that. I would have felt it. I would know so that cannot be it. Then I receive a message from my mother.

“Luna asked me not to tell you but.... She killed Charlotte and saved your father and myself. She then left to the south side of the territory to help with the attack. I do not know what happened after that, but she was not hiding.”

She what??? I mean I figured the reports I got from people were just mistakes. You know like they mistook another wolf for Athena but now my own mother confirms it. Why on earth would she be fighting let alone in her wolf form. She knows the risks she is extremely pregnant she knows how important her safety is.

That is, it something has gone very wrong. The council and I start up again. “So, Luna is missing?” James asks. I can only nod. I have no idea where she is. I feel overwhelmed and sad, but mostly I just feel anger. We should have been more on the offence from the begging with the threat of Gerrard in his goons.

“I think it was Alpha Ryan” Byron speaks up. “It makes sense. He knew Winter was here and has knowledge of what she is capable of. Also, he knew Gerrard. He knew he would eventually attack us. I do not know if it was a coordinated attack or what exactly but I'm sure he is the one who has our Luna. I think we need to ask the Moon Goddess for her help in protecting our precious Luna and her pups.”

“I agree with you Byron. I noticed in the fighting some of those wolfs out there did not smell of rogue. Some smelt as if they were in a pack. I also do not know if they were working together. But honestly it does not matter. The only thing that matters is getting Luna back safe and sound with those pups. She could deliver any day now.” I say.

**Winter**

The midwife comes in and starts to help me wash. After we are done washing off all the blood that was caked on my body, she begins to do her exam. “I am so sorry you are here. I do not know what has happened to our Alpha.”

What is she saying? She is talking against her alpha. I find this a bit strange. But maybe if she keeps going, I can find some information for Cole and about what state Alpha Ryan is in. Also, I can maybe find my location and tell him so he can come get me out of this hell hole.

The midwife goes on, “Yeah he is acting a lot like his father was before he died. I think it is wrong what he is doing but he is Alpha, so we must listen.” She starts to feel my stomach. “Oh, wow your having twins that is amazing.” she pauses for a moment the leans closely and whispers. “Do not tell Alpha you are having two. Do you understand?”

I stare at her blankly and nod slowly. She then checks the rest of me out. When she is done, she stands up to leave before she exits, she says, “Again I am sorry. Alpha Ryan will be down here soon. He will bring food and clothes for you. You should rest.”

Is that it I think to myself. I am to just rest in this horrible place. Oh, and am I supposed to just rest naked in this dirt. She didn’t even give me an update on my pups' health. Great so on top of being trapped in here like a caged dog I have the uncertainty of my babies state.

I lean up against the cell wall and try to mind link to Cole, but nothing happens. There is no connection. Just silence. The silence is cut by the sound of someone approaching. “My dear Winter I am so sorry to keep you waiting. As much as I love to look at your naked body, and man I really do. I bought you something to change into.”

I grab the clothes from Ryan. As I pull the clothes through the silver bars my arm gets clipped, and it singes my flesh. I focus on healing it and it instantly fades. “Wow so my father was not lying you truly do have powers. I wonder what else you can do.”

I just glare at him. This asshole is a savage just as his father was. Killing in pursuit of power. “What can I help you with Alpha Ryan?” I try to sound sweet I do not want to set him off. “Well, my dear Winter we have a lot to discuss.”
