Chapter 65

**Winter**

Did Cole just say Charlotte? What a bitch. I think for second where to hide. Not a lot of places would cover my big belly. Then I remember something. If this is all because of Charlotte, she must be twisted like Gerrard. And Gerrard is obsessed with revenge.

So naturally she wants to go after me but also Cole's mother Jade. I mean it makes sense Jade set her up. But she couldn’t actually kill her. Roan is there with Jade, and he is a former Alpha, so I know he is strong. Still, I do not know what is up her sleeve. After all I did underestimate her before. I never in my wildest imagination thought she would do this.

I decide to head over to their little place. If nothing is wrong, then no big deal and maybe I can find a good hiding place for me and my overly large belly. I quietly and slowly make my way toward there small cottage.

When I get there, I hear Charlotte. She is screaming at Jade. "You deserve that. You are a backstabbing bitch. Do not worry he is alive not for long though. Gerrard wants to kill him. Apparently, he himself wants to make sure all alphas are disposed of. All I did was dose him with a large amount of silver.”

Goddesses help me, this is bad. I know Cole would want me to hide and to not get involved. I sure as hell do not owe Jade anything she hates me. I'm sure she will probably hate her grandsons if they come out like me at all. Despite all that she is a member of this pack. And I am her Luna.

It is my job to protect the members of this pack. Also, I think Charlotte is easy to beat. She hasn’t gone on my training program like the other females in this pack have for the last five months or so. Well neither has Jade.

She would come to the training as it was mandatory, but she refused to participate. She and a couple of old bitties like her would just sit and watch. Screw this I am not going to stand by and let this happen. Even if Jade is a monster in law, I cannot let her just die.

I make my way around so that I can quietly sneak up on Charlotte. I wait a second and pounce. I grab her from the back and start to punch her in the stomach while using my other arm to hold her around the neck.

This is much more challenging since I have this huge belly in my way, and she frees herself with a maneuver I never excepted. Has she been training? I think to myself. “Well, well, well if it isn’t the Luna herself. I guess you and Jade have made up.” Charlotte crackles out. Yeah, she is definitely unhinged.

“Charlotte let her and Roan go. They are not going to do anything to derail your plans. You must know this is pointless and you will not win.” At this point we are circling each other. Sizing each other up. I know she looks more toned. She must have been training when she was with Gerrard.

“Look here dear Luna.” she spouts in a mocking tone. “You may be right we may not win but I will have my revenge. Your dear mother-in-law is responsible for me becoming what I am. She tore me away from the only home I ever had. And it was her plan. I just went along with it. But I'm back now and I plan to stay. So, either leave now or hide, because if Gerrard finds you your fate will be worse than death. Or you can stay and die along with Jade.”

With that last sentence she leaps and transitions to her wolf. Which caught me off guard. But I move back and lose my balance and fall. This dam belly is making my movements clumsier than usual. I know I am not supposed to shift, and I am especially supposed to take it easy, but I need Athena.

I call on here and she is there in an instant my body transforms. I let her take control. Goddess almighty she does not hold back. She dives at Charlottes wolf and tears into her. It is vicious but Athena is out for blood. She rips into her flesh with her claws while the other wolf is whimpering. Then she Bites down on the brown wolfs throat and rips it out.

I have no idea how much time has passed? But I start to feel all the scratches and bites and cuts inflicted from Charlotte's wolf. Athenas white coat is now drenched in blood. Athena looks at Jade who is just standing their star stuck about watching this barbaric slaughter went down.

I mind link to Jade. “Are you okay?” she waits a few moments before mind linking back. “Thank you, Luna. I think you should shift back, and we can find a place for you to hide. I know you should not be shifting its bad for the babies remember. So please come here please rest let me help hide you and take care of you.”

Well, I think to myself that is a turn around. Now that I save your life you decide to be kind. I decide she is right I should probably lay low and hide so I decide to ask Athena to shift back but, alas I hear the battle cry coming from mind link. “They are attacking south side of territory.”

I mind link to Jade. “Hide Roan and yourself hopefully the silver will be off soon. You need to keep him and yourself safe.” As I am leaving, I turn back to say, “Jade do not tell Alpha Cole about this.” She nods and I turn to leave. As Athena is running to the south side of the territory, I get a mind link from Jade. “Please be careful Luna. You are important to this pack, and you have precious cargo. And thankyou again.”
